Defective panel braces

We bought 2 of these. The first one was perfect. The 2nd one was defective in the box, with split wood on the two end braces of the long slatted side panel. Unusable. We had to buy/build 2 new lengths of wood to create new braces and afix them. $25 extra and 3 hours later, we could start to build the veg trug.

Great option for the backyard

This has turned out to be quite handy. The price is a bit of an investment, but the kit is quite sturdy and should endure several seasons. Drains well. The heights keeps the groundhogs out.

VegTrug Raised Garden Planter

Very happy with my purchase . Easy to put together, very sturdy. Love the stain, very natural.

The wood in this product is very thin, which worked out because the pieces did not fit together easily & had to be bent to attach all the sides. It's also not quite as deep as expected, except in the very middle of the planter.

I love my VegTrug! I don’t have a very good space for a garden in my yard (and too many deer to have one!) so this Vegtrug is perfect for on our deck. I got the cold frames also and started many different cold weather plantings; radishes, lettuces, boc Choy, onions, etc, in March. Had many days of snow and cold winds and the cold frames kept in toasty inside. Wonderful in just walk out and cut some arugula and red lettuce for our dinner salad. I’m getting ready to plant my summer plants now….A great learning experiment!

Exceptionally well engineered product, well packaged with screws grouped by size/function to make assembly less error prone. Directions are clear in terms of assembly process and sequence with a video provided that’s useful to follow along. Shipping was fast and trug arrived earlier than site indicated!! Easy to fill, and so far plants seem happy!! Great product to use on a deck or patio to protect plants from deer!! And stand up gardening is a wonder; planning on adding the cold frame to extend the season. So far Vegtrug is 5 stars!!

I'm excited to put this together in the spring. Will be great for my salad garden. Wanted a garden planter that I didn't have to kneel down to work on. This is the perfect size. The price was great compared to other stores. Purchase, communication and curbside pickup was great.

Very pleased with the planter. I also purchased the cold frame. The cold frame is adequate; however, no where near the quality of the planter. I beefed up the cold frame a bit and secured it to the planter and it works and looks great. The window frames need to be engineered a little stronger.

Raised Planter Bed

We ordered the raised planter bed online and were happy to find it at our local store. There was a bit of confusion for the store to locate the planter and confirm curbside pick up - but once it was sorted, all was good. This is our first planter - it was not too difficult to assemble and seems sturdy and solid so far. I hope it lasts many seasons. We are happy to have the herbs and plants raised off the ground so critters don't eat our harvest.

We surprised my husband with this Vegtrug planter for his Birthday in March ..He absolutely LOVES it. It was so simple to put together and is very sturdy. Great concept, poor materials

I love the garden. It is a great height and a good size with lots of depth down the center for deeper rooted vegetables. The slatted design provides good drainage and the height makes harvesting easy. The only reason i can't give it more stars is the actual materials. Clearly, no pilot holes were drilled when they were making the parts as some of the smaller pieces were cracked already where the screw holes were, such as the smaller braces. I had to use zip straps to hold them together. And some of the holes did not line up perfectly. But I got it together, made a few small repairs, and now it is giving me wonderful vegetables. Too bad about the construction materials.

CLOSE to perfect

Assembly is easy...the wood smells great. We've planted & are enjoying the biggest small crop of veg & flowers you could imagine - carrots, beets, radishes, lettuce, zucchini, borage, jalapenos, cuke, scarlet runner beans, bok choi - everything has come up beautifully, with zero critter damage. The single downside? MUSHROOMS (not the edible kind) - as you water the trug they sprout from between the slats, non- stop. Soggy, black, they stick to the planter & we use a bbq brush to scrape them off. Maybe it is the soil we chose? No matter - the planter works great & looks beautiful on our deck.

Solid Garden, Holds Plenty, Great Value - Love it!

We were looking for a good-sized, raised garden to grow our own vegetables in a small backyard subject to heavy shade cover and only poor soil where the sun is reliable. This Veg Trug was the perfect solution. Large enough to hold a great variety (mini-cucumbers, beans, peppers, chard, zucchini) and all at an ideal height to tend (easy on the back). Really well-packaged and easily brought home. Clear instructions; one person assembly, but the amount of screw/bolt work by hand demanded due care and attention to produce a very solid build. All pieces were machined to exact measurements - no issues. Take the time with assembly and be rewarded. Stain looks great - enough to want to redo the deck as a match! The value for price - completely worth it. Would buy a second without hesitation if we had the room (still considering the smaller model). All in all, completely satisfied and now munching out through COVID lockdown.

Best raised planter for growing veggies

I had to look everywhere to finally find this planter. It was totally worth the effort! My veggies are growing with so much ease. No hassle with insects. It was easy to assemble. I'm planning to buy the smaller one as well for next summer.

Veggie gardening magic for an urban backyard

I love my Trug raised planter. It was very easy to assemble, and looks appealing. I probably over planted veggies in my first season, but I grew: 2 types of lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, brussels sprouts, potatoes, beets, onions, celery and tomatoes. The fact that it was raised probably reduced the critter chomping too.

A useful addition to the garden

We bought two of these planters to extend our vegetable garden. They are easy to plant and maintain, and the plants we tried this year (beets, lettuce, celery, and some flowers) are doing well. We purchased the frame and plastic cover after we had planted them so we haven't yet tried them, but I think that they will be useful next spring for seed starting outdoors.

poor craftmanship

Design is good. But workmanship lacking, A 6th grader in a woodworking class could do better. none of the prefab panels fit properly, screws they used to put panels together were not even screwed in the wood. For what it is , not worth the price , buy wood from hardware store and build yourself.
