Stay alert on the dripping
First and foremost, it was easy to install, not too high on the faucet and handle pulls out for a complete rinse off of bigger pots and pans. Faucet has more leeway to the right and left without limited restrictions. What I’ve read is that it tends to drip on the handle pull out hose and on the inside connected hoses so I’ll be keeping a close eye on it and also that it starts to rust on the tight down grains where you tighten it up from under the sink because water sips through in between the rotating faucet opening. My solution was to apply enough grease to the grains like 2 inches as you tighten it so the water won’t rust them and you’ll be able to rotate the faucet like it is supposed to. See how much service it’ll give me till I contact the manufacture of its warranty.
[Rewarded Review] . Low cost American Standard Mesa faucet
Easy to move left to right and effortless water control lever. The soap dispenser was not installed. This faucet has a pull out spray head which from the looks of the pull cord and the sound it makes when pulling it around the sink, in my opinion, it will fray and tear with frequent wear. This faucet is not built to last. Ordered November 5, 2019, online, delivered free to home at $119.00 plus tax. Hoping for 8 - 9 years before replacement necessary.
[Rewarded Review] Don't let silly nostalgia make you buy this thing
Yes, don't let silly nostalgia make you buy garbage! American Standard faucets were once build to last a lifetime and then some. Today, not so much. American Standard used to be a great American high quality brand. But today it should be called "cheapest Chinese standard" We bought this faucet at Lowe's 2 years ago to replace a 30 year old Moen faucet. One thing that the old Moen faucet did was that the sprayer button shut itself down after use, this American Standard didn't It was so annoying.
[Rewarded Review] Rust locks it to sink. Unable to reuse.
Installed faucet in 2015. In 2019 I was replacing my kitchen sink and countertop and wanted to continue using the Mesa Kitchen Faucet. The mounting kit was rusted tight to the threaded stem. I used a number of agents to break down the rust and get the mounting kit to break loose but the threads are too badly corroded to reuse. A shame that this functioning faucet used materials that would only allow a single installation. Bronze would be nice. Most people would be forced to cut this faucet off and install a new one.
Didn't even get 5 years service from this faucet
After trying Moen and Pfister faucets in our kitchen the past 18 years, I decided why not try an American Standard. Boy was I wrong. The faucet didn't even get to the 5 year mark when it started leaking under the handle. It was easy getting the handle off in order to get to the mixing cartridge, but in order to access the cartridge down inside the stem you needed to remove this flimsy little half dome cover piece. Well, first of all, the half dome trim cover piece is completely smooth in order to fit seamlessly under the handle. Only thing is, there's nothing to grab onto with a pair of Channel lock pliers and worse yet, the material is very thin gauge alloy material that essentially disintegrated into 20 little pieces like peeling an orange. Rather than to try and mail order a replacement part I chucked the entire faucet and went with a Delta faucet. Here's a clue American Standard, if you're going to use dis-similar materials in your products, use some common sense and apply some anti-seize compound or at the very least, use the same stainless steel as the rest of the faucet body.
Looked nice... not good
Went down and picked this up thinking it looks good, box feels heavy and it's a good brand. Basically after getting it installed I thought the hoses seemed like they were very cheap, the head felt super cheap and leaked with it in the off position (brand new, it shouldn't do that for a year or two), had a small leak at connection point for cold and not for hot but couldn't figure out where it was coming from, re did the line to see and then it started spraying out of the top of the crimped connection, I was done at this point after reading the reviews, cause when I took it all out and found the cold hose line that ran to the head just fell out. Seems really cheap, I'm glad I'm returning it before it broke a line and caused damage to my property. Dont buy, spend the extra money and get something that will last.
Should've read the reviews and opened the box!
I just purchased this faucet yesterday, because my other faucet broke and I really couldn't afford to spend a lot of money on a new one, since I needed to replace it right away. Amercian Standard, okay, well-knowed name good bathroom products, clearance price $99.00 - a no-brainer! Wrong! I hate it already! It's the most flimsy and cheap looking faucet ever! The sprout swings back and forth so easily, I'm afraid one "strong" swing and it'll break, this should be considered a design flaw. I paid my plumber $120.00 to install it, I will purchase another "well designed" faucet, that I'm not afraid to touch or use in fear of it breaking! Sometimes you can find a quality product on the "clearance shelf", this, however, wasn't the case! Very disappointed
American Standard Mesa Faucet
Bought the American Standard Mesa faucet last night to replace the current pull out faucet I have now in my kitchen. Right out the box I had to do plumbing work to make the supply connections work with the new American Standard faucet since I own a doublewide and the plumbing was straight PEX pipe to the current faucet with no shutoffs which is the way the new American Standard faucet designed to connect to. Luckily I was able to find everything I needed at my shop and didn't have to make a early morning trip to Lowe's or hardware store to obtain what was needed. Installation very easy to install. Though a little confusing on what's the center point of the faucet of itself so it took a little adjust to make it look proper afterwards. I don't care too much for the fact that the faucet doesn't stay when moved from one side to the other very well and after using it I can tell that it's nice in some way that movement is easy when you are using the pull out part. Still it doesn't sit right with me that it has no resistance to stay when not using the pull out. Probably end up getting some kind of rubber piece to give it some resistance to stay. Other than that I'm pleased with the faucet. Much better pressure than the old faucet I had and the soap dispenser is a nice touch. Overall it's ok to me. I deal with American Standard heating and air conditioning products which are outstanding but this faucet has seemed to miss the mark. Great styling but lacking in workmanship and total design of assembly. If Lowe's had their faucets to where one could examine them my decision process would've made me pass on this one.
TWO YEAR OLD SINK FLOODED KITCHEN AND BASEMENT
I bought this sink 2 years ago at Lowe's and paid to have it installed by a plumber. Yesterday afternoon, my daughter turned on the hot water and the water hose made a very loud sound then broke off, flooding both the kitchen and the basement. I got the make and model info of the tag on the hose and called American Standard this morning. I told them that I didn't keep the receipt but I had the model number and manufacture date as well as pictures of the broken hot water hose and the water damage. American Standard refused to stand behind their defective product.
Not all stainless steel.
I want the next buyer to be aware. This faucet is described as stainless steel, no where does it say anything about any plastic. The only part stainless steel is the main body and handle. The deck plate is some kind of cast material. The pull out sprayer is a cheap plastic made to look like steel. The soap dispenser is all plastic and very cheaply made. I am truly sorry I didn't take it back for a refund and get something else of better quality. I have ordered a different manufacture soap dispenser from Amazon to replace the original. American Standard and others should not be allowed to advertise something as stainless steel when it's not. Also, check most of the other brands the sprayer is also plastic. Consumers should be told that some parts are plastic and not be tricked into thinking everything is metal. Bottom line nice looking, works well, good as most, throw the soap dispenser away get a better one. You will have as good as most of the faucets out there for this money. Terrible that you can't get quality anymore and prices go up.
Looks nice, but very cheaply made
I purchased this faucet because it was reasonably priced and has a nice clean look. After installation, it is the cheapest-feeling faucet I have ever used.
Horrible product!
We purchased this faucet in June 2016, it looked nice and modern and it was a decent price to replace an outdated faucet. Guess what? Lesson learned, spend some extra bucks and get a better one. Ours is leaking from the hose and from inside the faucet. The plumber said we need a new one, we went to Lowes, and they give a 3-month warranty, but that after that time frame we have to deal with American Standard. Let's see how it goes.....in the mean time, there is a bucket under the sink. Do not purchase this faucet.... Miserable experience.....:-(
Cheap sub-par design
I purchased this product as a replacement to a traditional single lever faucet for the kitchen in our beach house (key 4 months annual usage) the unit failed in the 2nd season of use. The failure was where the retractable hose and the handle meet. The entire assembly in the handle is plastic and will never withstand years of service. This part of the faucet is being pulled constantly and for and additional $15 in parts and labor they could have made a far superior product but choose not to; I'm guessing from retailer pressure. (I can't imagine anyone company would put their Brand on such junk) I have a pull out unit in my primary residence that has been in service for almost 15 years without a single issue, the difference in material is obvious. The warranty probably covers this but I don't even want a replacement, my labor is more valuable.
Great faucet for a great price
I was replacing a 10 year old Moen faucet in my kitchen because over time the faucet had started to leak around the seal on the sink, and also the faucet head had developed a crack and water was spraying out at the top. Unfortunately my kitchen at one time was a mud room, so when I first moved in, I had the pipes freeze during winter. That finally took its toll and I needed to replace the entire faucet.
I should have read the reviews first...
Guess this faucet was cheaper for a reason. The overall appearance was nice, but it's really sub par in design. Not enough flow, the included (not replaceable) supply lines are small and flimsy and will kink on you easily when installing. The left to right motion is so loose that the faucet tries to return to center, instead of staying where it was placed. I'll be returning this unit and getting a better made brand. So if you're in a bind and need something fast, this will work. If you want something nice, that's well built and works as expected, this is not for you.
Not Up to Par for American Standard
It's unfortunate that American Standard produced a product that seems to have given up quality for a price point. I have just finished installing the faucet, and while it works fine, it feels cheap and light weight. I am concerned with its durability. As previous reviewers have mentioned, there are supply lines ready to connect to 3/8" shut-off which is a great idea. However, they are only about 20" and they are short of my shut-off valves, and I had to purchase additional fittings to make the final connections. You need to know this if you buy this faucet, because it could add about $10-$18 to the price for the fittings or additional supply lines. Installation was very easy and should be able to be done by most DIY customers. The only items that you may need for installation are a Phillips Head Screwdriver, Plumbers Putty, and Teflon Tape. If I had to do this project over again, I would have purchased a different faucet. I replaced a MOEN pull-out faucet, and that faucet was easily twice as heavy and felt like a quality product-however it failed internally and was only about 8 years old.
Good Value
This faucet was easy to install. It remains to be seen how durable it is, so I won't comment on quality. The pull out sprayer is lightweight, but the body seems to be sturdy brass. The supply lines fit my installation, where the shutoffs were about 15" below the sink bottom, and not too far off center.
Very poor quality
We purchased this faucet four days ago and had it installed by a plumber. Today we had the same plumber return, remove the faucet, and replace it with a different brand. The faucet is very cheaply constructed, lightweight, and unable to stay in the position you place it. You know how you twist a faucet to the left or to the right, depending on where you want the water to flow....this faucet does not stay put where you turn it. It will move left or right even as the water flows. For twenty more dollars, you can buy a better quality faucet. I won't purchase another American Standard faucet after this experience, because I had to pay the plumber twice.
Returned it quick
I did not like this faucet. I never had it hooked up to the water because the lines were too short. 20 inches was about two inches too short for me. Measure before you go to the store to buy it so you can buy extensions or whatever. That also makes the overall price go up. The steel braided lines were nice but still too short.
Installation is the best, makes it easy to remove
Not that I have installed a bunch of faucets, but this one was the easiest I have ever done. Very smart design. That is where the good ends. The quality is very low. Installed it Friday evening, by Saturday morning, it already sounded like it was 20 years old. Called American Standard and they even said to return it to the store. When you would move the faucet "spout" side to side, it would vibrate and make awful noises. Plus, when using the sprayer, it would only extend out about a foot, if that. Yes, you could remove the weight, but then it would not pull itself back into the mount. Looks nice, easy installation, that's it with the Pros. Lowes was good about the return.
