We love this beautiful rug. I ordered it in the off white color. It has made our living area very cozy and has lightened up the room. . It is a very thick and plush rug. I would not hesitate to order it again.

Beautiful and luxurious

This rug is everything! I love this Ivory color of which I was so worried it would be too white, but it's not at all. It's the perfect ivory color. I love the way it feels. And even though it's not a true 9x12 rug, the 8'6 x 12 works very well.

I purchased this Safavieh Handmade Paris Shag Danara 2.5-inch Thick Rug in silver. I purchased the near 9x12 as well as two long runners for the entryway. They were luxurious in appearance, hefty, gorgeous rugs. If you love shag, and in doubt of this product, you should buy this product. We had to buy rug pads to put underneath each rug to keep the rug in place because it slips on our wood flooring. Also, the rug strands, the shag, would get stuck in our vacuum cleaner so I had to cut them off of the vacuum roller. They rugs were so beautiful, it was worth the trouble.

I love my sable brown rug! It looks very sophisticated and goes perfect with my farmhouse theme. Only downfall is I have two dogs.. they like to pee on it once in a while. With that being said, it's impossible to clean. There is no way to get in between the threads because of how they lay. I tried a carpet shampooer and other things. I might have to end up buying another one because I love it so much.

Thick and lush area rug.

This rug is thick and gorgeous! It has a beige undertone which can help bring together many different color schemes. This is not a loose shaggy rug, it's very tight and lush. This is our first Safavieh area rug and we now exclusively shop this brand because of the high quality.

Beautiful material looks exquisite, I was hoping for something more lightweight this is a piece of carpet, with hand sewing threads. I was looking for something that I could pick up and shake out easily. Also had to purchase half inch foam pad to go underneath. Putting this just on the hardwood floors, it's slippery and not soft to walk on. That part was disappointing. I just wish the website would have stated that and the weight. These way probably 8 10 lb. They are gorgeous and look really well with my comforter.

We love this rug! It's thick and comfortable to walk on. In fact, it's so comfortable, our dogs prefer it to their dog beds! Even our daughter will curl up on the rug instead of the couch sometimes. A word of warning... some vacuums can get bogged down by the thick piling (especially a robot vacuum) but still worth it. I definitely recommend this rug if you want something to walk on that has a bit of softness and coziness to it.

What an awesome set of rugs these are!

I am so glad I chose these particular rugs. They are so very soft & feel wonderful beneath our feet when we get up out of bed. They are a tad thin but that doesn't take away from the quality at all. In fact I think they are going 2 b easier 2 keep clean that way. The smell U smell goes away in a couple days, and it's not a bad smell, just a fabric type smell. When you 1st roll it out it will be turned up at the tightest end, wound. But goes straight after a day or so. The color is exactly as it looks in the pictures. Although at 1st when I rolled it out, it looked like there were 2 different colors. But, I was wrong. It's shag carpet. And although growing up we had shag carpet, I was a kid so never noticed it, I guess. But it depends on how the shag is laying 2 what color it looks like. It doesn't take away from the rug at all and in fact adds texture, depth, & character 2 it. I was worried with so many different types of rugs 2 choose from (even from the same brand) that I was a little overwhelmed. So, finally decided 2 just take the plunge and so happy that I did. I have been so fortunate with Overstock so far. And will continue 2, as I have so much left 2 purchase 4 our new home. Thanks Overstock.

From love to hate

Stunning at first, with excessive shedding, which I hoped would end. Beware it does not stop shedding. It says moderate traffic...not the case. Completely bald between my coffee table and my couch. Looks horrible.. Still pretty under the coffee table though. You can see in the photo with my hand, my four fingers by the coffee table has fur but where my thumb is its bald, and its not matted, as its only the weave left!! Need to buy a new rug .

Beautiful, Classy, and Durable

Safavieh rugs are great in general, but the Paris Shag is the best one in my opinion. I purchased the Sable color in 8'x10', and we get compliments on it any time someone new comes into the house. The fibers are close together (versus sparse threading on cheaper rugs), and the feel is super soft. I can't keep the dogs off this rug, they love it! We are actually buying another one for our family room (which is why I even came across this older purchase and ended up writing this review). These rugs are beautiful (almost silk-like) and are very well made.

Luxuriously plush!

I'd been looking for a bedroom runner for quite a while. I ordered this rug hoping it would be the one. I am so glad I ordered it! Absolutely gorgeous! It is the perfect rug. I couldn't believe how truly luxuriously plush it is and the color accents my room perfectly! I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a high quality rug at a affordable price. It also arrived just two days after I ordered it! I ordered two more for my soon to arrive grand baby's nursery! So so very pleased with this purchase!

Beautiful, high quality fluffy rug!

The color and quality of this rug are gorgeous! We got this in the aqua color (my photos don't do the color justice) for my daughter's room when we replaced carpet with wood floors. She wanted something thick and cushy because she missed having carpet. This rug satisfied the pickiest customer! We didn't even need to use a pad because it's so thick and heavy. You do have to be mindful when vacuuming because of the long pile, but we just turn off the brushes and it gets fluffed up nicely. Well worth the money!!

Ok, we have had this rug (Ivory, 8x10) for the past 6 months and it has held up very well in our highly used living room. We have an elementary school-aged daughter that loves arts and crafts and drinks liquids in the living room despite reminders not to, and a 100-lb Old English Sheepdog - so I think we put any household object to the test. Because of the aforementioned biological and furry children, I don't invest too heavily in expensive housewares and know full and well they will get a lot of use. I AGONIZED over this purchase so I hope this review is helpful to others in the same boat. Yes, this rug is as wonderful as the reviews say! It's plush -- extra duper plush with a thick felt pad below it! Everyone in the house enjoys sitting on it and guests comment frequently about the beautiful appearance and softness. It has withstood many an art project gone awry, dog vomit, spilled drinks (including strawberry lemonade) and frequent muddy paws! Our dogs feet are the size of giant trashcan lids and we use a huge contraption called a XL Paw Plunger (also ***) to remove mud off his comically large feet, but still, mud/dirt do come in and vacuum off this rug very well. I was hesitant about getting a light color but I oh-so-niaively want to enjoy a light-neutrals decorated home, so I bit the bullet and got Ivory. Seeing others photos helped me immensely so I'm adding mine as well. In my ideal world, I'd prefer a bright white but I'm a realist and ivory works with my life without being too tan/beige. We have white "wood-look" tiled floors with variations of white, gray and graiege in them and a white IKEA couch for reference, so I was a little persnickety about the shade of ivory I wanted. At first the contrast between the ivory rug and the white sofa bothered me a little but I've come to appreciate the subtle contrast and the super-power dirt-hiding abilities of ivory. If you want this rug to match a white white home, consider getting the true white version, but I think the ivory is more practical for most homes. It is "warm" without reading yellow. I'm attaching pictures to help. I'm considering purchasing more of these rugs because we love it so much. Gorgeous shag rug!

This is my second Safavieh Milan shag rug, and I love it as much as the first! The color looks great with my tropical theme room ... as others have said it is a darker aqua, not as light as shown online ... but it is still aqua and still very pretty. There is some color variation in the rug which I like. The rug is VERY thick and cushy, super soft on the feet. My dog and cat both immediately started laying on it! I bought the 6 x 9 size and it fits perfectly in my small living room. I highly recommend this rug for looks and feel. NOTE: The only reason I needed a second rug was because I vacuumed the first one and, not having a vacuum with a no beater brush setting, it pulled the coil out of the shag, making it frizzy rather than "shaggy". Others have commented on this and I will add my experience and warning: do NOT vacuum this rug unless you have a no beater brush setting, or a special shag rake attachment for your vacuum hose. They are available on line and serve to rake the shag and lightly suction it, preserving the coils of the rug. It is a little more work intensive, but makes a huge difference in the life and look of your carpet. Enjoy!

Gorgeous plush rug! I purchased this about 18 months ago. I chose the Ivory (cream white) 8'6" x 12' for my bedroom, and placed it partially under the bed and partially sticking out. So pretty against my dark brown hardwood floors! It's so comfy that sometimes when the sun is streaming in on it I sit on it/lay on it and just chill out! I do not have kids or dogs so I can't say how the rug would hold up, but it is very fluffy and I'm super careful about keeping it clean. I have to vacuum it on my hands/knees and use the stair/furniture attachment, it's too fluffy to push the vacuum back and forth. Totally worth the extra effort. You can see my cat's footprints in the picture I've attached which gives you some idea of the fluffiness of the rug after it's been vacuumed.

I would strongly recommend this item. I bought it over a year ago and it has held up so well. I have 2 small children and it has stayed plush and soft and still looks brand new. It is easy to vacuum and always looks fresh and fluffy. I am particularly happy about the fact that it doesn't shed onto you clothes. It is durable with a nice thick backing and it is also such a perfect color. The rug has shades of grey and neutrals in it. I don't want to say it's specifically Browns or specifically grey in the rug it's all just such a neutral color and would definitely go with any interior. Highly recommend this rug!

My dogs are aging and have sore joints. For some reason they love to lie on these silky rugs. And they never pee on them - perhaps because they see them as special. The only negative point: you can wash these on the delicate cycle in a FRONT LOADING washer only with tumble action. No agitation ever! Unless you are willing to wash this wsy, you will regret it. Hundreds of those little silky threads will be all over the inside of your washer. Also, hang over a rod to dry. No dryer! They survive this gentle treatment well. They might also feel good to human feet as a bath rug.

This is my third Safavieh rug, and I just love the quality. They're heavy and dense, and wear very well - even with pets and four kids. This one is replacing an eyelash shag that I bought from Target, which was absolute rubbish. The color is perfect - a very neutral, warm gray that looks slightly tan - a color that works well with my dark leather love seats and dark beige sofa, as well as medium hardwood floors. I needed something that wouldn't clash with the other browns in the room, and it looks great. The rug actually has a couple of colors woven together, giving it a sort of stippled effect. That means it hides the dirt well! I love the Safavieh shag rugs - they're a perfect compliment to hardwood floors in a living room. They're so cozy that two of my kids immediately laid on it after we unrolled it. It's not too high a pile that my Dyson can't handle it. You will not be disappointed with a Safavieh rug.

I ordered this rug last week for our "Hurricane Harvey" remodeled study. After a year of construction, we are finally in the furnishing and decorating phase of our recovery. The rug arrived promptly and well packaged. The color goes well with our Agreeable Gray walls and I love the way it feels under my feet. It's very thick and soft. We have only had it a couple of days so I have not vacuumed it yet. Hopefully it will vacuum well. My initial impression with the rug as well as the delivery from Overstock was positive so I just ordered a second one in a larger size for my "Hurricane Harvey" remodeled bedroom. I am still shopping for rugs for my kitchen and family room and even though I really like the color and style of this rug I will order a different style for variety.

I really like this rug. But, I knew what I was getting. This is not like sheepskin. The fibers get their silkiness from what is best described as a silky plastic. I know the words "silk" & "plastic" don't seem to go together, BUT here they do. If you like to sink your toes into something soft, yet very durable. This rug is for you. I bought the smallest size first (2' x 3') for the foot of my bed. It wasn't what I thought, but I loved how it felt between my toes and under my feet. I was also surprised at how easily it cleans up. I mistreat my rugs. I don't think something I walk on should be delicate. So, when I needed a neutral, soft, but durable rug for the hallway connecting three bedrooms to the main bath, I knew this would work well. It holds up under slightly damp feet and easily shakes clean, despite the deep pile. It also vacuums way more easily than typical, deep-pile shag carpet. If you want that faux sheep skin/animal hyde feel, this is NOT it! But, if you want softness, durability, and dynamic ivory tones (from the way light reflects off the rug fibers), buy this one. In fact, I'm more likely to buy this in the interesting animal hyde shapes and tones offered over similar faux hyde rugs.
