Replacement 07000 shower cartidge

It would be nice to have a verbal description of how to remove the cartridge in at least one language - English - the fact that you have to remove TWO plastic inserts to be able to insert a 22 mm socket is not obvious. The IKEA-style graphic instructions are very unclear.

Removing old sleeve

The new ones very easy to get in. The bigger problem is getting the old one out. Backing out the cap nut does not pull out the old sleeve far enough so you can pull down the retaining clip

Cartridge

Perfect replacement for my 30 year old Grohe shower faucet. The hard part was getting the old cartridge out.....these assemblies really need to be greased every couple-few yeasr; if so, they will last forever.

Maintenance

Product is robust and lasts a long time but if a little preventive maintenance ( cleaning when the in/out action becomes less easy) it could last forever.

New gasket design does not work satisfactorily

This the second time I have attempted to replace the cartridge in a Grohe bathroom sink faucet originally installed in 1992. Both have ended in failure. There appears to have been a change to the design of the two saddle-shaped gaskets that form the seal between the cartridge and the well in the valve body. The original cartridge used molded rubber pieces of the correct shape to fit into the holes in the plastic outer sheath of the cartridge. The new versions use and o-ring which is formed into the saddle by a small plastic insert. When inserted into the valve body, these new seals pop out from the cartridge no matter how careful you are to keep the cartridge aligned. The first time, the plastic inserts were broken rendering the whole cartridge useless. On this attempt, the parts simply fell out and become stuck in the outlet pipe from where I retrieved them, reassembled them and then tried again, but with the same result. I have now installed the new cartridge with the original preformed gasket. This is working for now but I do not expect it to last. A very unsatisfactory result and a waste of money and effort.

Product Good, Needs Instlallation directions for my type faucet.

The product itself is fine. Mine was used in a Ladylux Kitchen Faucet. The instructions from Grohe are poor, they did not cover our type of faucet at all. I had separately ordered a new handle assembly, and that had a schematic appropriate to my faucet from that. Fortunately, there were some comments from other users about their experiences extracting the old cartridge, which took a bit of muscle. They also advised cleaning the internals before installing, and buying silicone grease. Those comments were very helpful. Overall, the removal and installation went well, and the faucet works as it should.
