Can’t get it to connect to my WiFi. Should have looked at the reviews before buying online. Bought this for client 6 months ago. She couldn’t get it to work. I got it back from her (all packaging gone so now I own it!!). Tried several times to set-up. Canceled my Wifi so on 2G (Telus) but repeatedly no go. Going to take it to California to see if it works there (Wifi is easier to make work for Smart devices that can only do 2G). Otherwise, going to Eco Center with this junk.

Great Leak Detector

I use Moen Flo at two homes. The water detectors are great when used near dishwashers, ice makers, water heaters, central air conditioning and more. If it detects a leak it will call me and give me the option to turn off the water main. If it can’t reach me it will turn off the water. This has proven itself to me several times.

Cool...if they work

Purchased this set at the recommendation of our contractor after our dishwasher malfunctioned after being started in the morning and continued to spew steaming hot water all day, flooding pine wood floors and the basement below. They are cool, and the ones I got connected seem to work (I licked the external sensors and got the appropriate alerts) but I had trouble with 2 of 3, and one still isn't working.

Essential investment!

Love this product. I had to replace the sensor under my kitchen sink because a mouse chewed through the cord. Once I plugged access with steel wool, no more mouse issues. I have sensors in my kitchen, laundry room and water heater room. On one occasion, my water heater developed a leak and the sensor alerted us of the leak. Saved us from added expenses related to water damage. Definitely worth the investment!

Good idea but wifi connection faulty

The idea is good, being warned of a leak in your home through a phone app when you are away. But the reality was that pairing was difficult in spite of being within feet of the wifi hub and the device endlessly dropped off line for no reason. often it was off line for hours making it essentially useless. And also, the sticky pad that secures the device to a wall or door frame didn't stick for long without having to re-attach the unit

Flo by Moen - worth the investment

Great product, I use the Flo water leak detector together with the Flo smart water shutoff that connects inline with your main incoming water line. This allows me to remotely shut off the water to the house if a leak is detected. I pay for the additional Moen remote monitoring and they will shut off the water if I for some reason don’t respond to an alarm event. The app developed by Moen is probably the best product app I’ve experienced. The devices do work and have found leaks that otherwise would have gone undetected for a period. With the Flo Smart Water Shutoff also installed and monitored by Moen, my insurance company gave me a significant discount on my insurance premium. This is definitely one of this home automation investments that are worth it in my experience. Worth the investment and piece of mind when away from home.

Great idea but cant connect to WAP3 network

Got these after i had a minor leak in the attic due to the AC unit. The app looked great and asked for a ton of information regarding the home and location.

Bad Batteries Out of the Box, Non-Intuitive.

Bought (2) 3 packs because I needed 5. You can't see the battery status until they're set up. The tabs were in place but one was dead and the rest were at 20%. They made it two months before I started getting daily Low Battery alerts. Now I'm out $27 for new batteries. Instructions claim they can be attached with only the adhesive pads. They're heavy so I had to mount them to studs because they kept falling off. Overall not happy, wouldn't recommend. Not going to bother with the water shut off.

Good products, this is the second set I had purchased for around my house. My one complaint was that for both sets I had devices with dead batteries. They insert the battery with the little plastic tabs to pull out once they arrive. However in both sets I have ordered, the tab has moved on 2 out of the 3 in the set and the battery then turns on the device and it is dead by the time I’ve received them. It is especially frustrating since it is not a normal AA or AAA type battery, so the first time, I had to order more just to get them to work.

My Very First Smart...Well, Home Appliance (Sorta)

...and I've no idea if it works. App's downloaded, installed & nominally on-line. Home network's up, but "pairing" simply doesn't happen. I push the Reset button, the device blinks blue for a few minutes, then goes dark. Maybe I'll replace the "new" battery that came with it. Then I'll try pairing it again. Or maybe re-pairing. Or returning for a full refund. And stay dumb on purpose.

Trials and Tribulations

I have installed 7 of these leak detectors recently and it was really a hassle to do. MAIN PROBLEM: BATTERIES ARE NOT GOOD! Of the two that I purchased from Lowes, one had a bad battery. Of the 6 I purchases elsewhere, 3 of them had bad batteries and one had NO battery. Bite the bullet and buy some fresh,new batteries. There seems to be a problem that the plastic piece to keep the battery from actually being connected in the package slips out during handling and either discharges or was never good to begin with. The product is very good if the battery is good. If the battery is dead or has a low charge then it will be a frustrating experience to try to get it to work.

These little Smart Water Leak Detectors are very nice. For those who are worried about some ugly device showing in your bathroom, no worries. They have a nice, simple design and don't appear intrusive. The set-up through the app was easy, although one device was quite finicky and I had to put in a new battery. The options for location/placement are endless. You can use the cord in places where it's hidden and skip the cord if it's too hard to lay behind something like a refrigerator. I tested one device by setting the cord on a spoonful of water and BOOM, I got a message through the app defining the exact device (I installed 6) what the problem was ( you can have a low humidity issue, temperature issue, low battery issue or moisture issue. I live in the desert where the humidity is low most of the time. You can set each device separately and that is important. Who knew a laundry room has humidity extremes? Well you will find out that hot weather makes dry/low humidity occur but once you do a load of laundry during monsoon season, you will get a high humidity alert. You just have to play with your settings in the app. The dishwasher device had a similar finicky reveal but I find that to be comforting. After all, I want these devices to alert me when they are sensing something. My only ding but not worth knocking a star off is that the sticky tape on the back is useless. Just lay them on the floor because if you hang them without screwing them in, (screws are provided it you need to) they will fall! I will update if they prevent a flood!

I have a MOEN Flo smart water valve in my home so adding the MOEN Flo Smart Water Leak Detector seems like the thing to do. Let me start by saying that the first detector I received was non functional. Resolving that issue took over a month. I called the Flo support people who promised they would send me a replacement, but it never came. I then contacted MOEN customer service, which had a voicemail message that there would be a 3 hour wait before I could speak to an agent via their call back system. That ended up being 4 hours, the call back came after I'd waited the 3 hours but could not wait any longer. I called the next day and spoke to an agent who referred me to the Flo product support again. They again promised to send a replacement unit that I would get by the end of the week. Well it did arrive but took 2 weeks. Now the good part, the replacement device works perfectly. I already had the APP loaded on my phone and was familiar with it's use. Connecting the detector to WIFI was simple, as was setting it up on the APP. I tested the detector with some water in a cup and it notified me almost instantly. It has an audible alarm but I'm not sure I'd hear it if I were a few rooms away, it is not all that loud. If I have my phone with me than I would hear that notification. There is also an email message. Mounting of the unit is also simple. The installation booklet has ample instructions and images to help with all the steps. The device is battery powered with a CR123A 3V battery, which is rated to last up to 2 years. The detector comes with a wired remote sensor that plugs into the base of the unit when it is wall mounted. I do like this unit and all of its features but I have to say I'm concerned with the customer support. There is definitely room for improvement in that area.

The Flo by Moen Smart Water Detector is a compact device you can place in a high risk area of your home to send a push notification to your phone as well as sound an alarm when water is detected. You must download an app to your phone or smart device and connect the detector to your home wifi. I was able to complete the set up in about 5 minutes and then tested the device by placing it in the bathroom sink and opening the faucet. Within 1-2 seconds an alarm sounded from the device and 1-2 seconds later I received a notification to my iPhone. Per the included documentation, the app is also available from the Google Play Store.

The item arrived in the mail well packed and undamaged during shipping. There is a defect inside the device however. The battery was put inside incorrectly and the tab that helps hold the battery in place is bent. As is the positive battery terminal. The sensor still works; the battery is just not as stable as it should be (see pics.)

The app is easy to navigate and the device started providing information as soon as it connected to the network. And…it does more than just detect leaks; it also provides real time and historical temperature and humidity levels. And…if you install a Moen automatic water shut-off valve (extra $400+/-), it will send a signal to close the valve if a leak is detected. And…you can install the small remote sensor (included) if you need to monitor a small, out-of-the-way location. The sensor cable is about 48” long and could be used in conjunction with a wall mounting bracket (provided). Two mounting screws are included but you only need one, or you can use the self-adhesive tab to mount it. There is an optional (not included) leak sensing cable that will detect a leak any place along the cable. Up to three leak sensing cables can be connected.

What a total disappointment this product turned out to be. I have used battery operated leak detectors before that alert you by chirping sounds but was looking for something that could also alert me if not at home. First I tried without success to get the item to hook into my internet after downloading your application. That didn’t work with my router or even an extender. Then I tried without success connecting from the same room as the router.
