Very cheaply made product. After assembling it , it just looked bad. Crooked, misaligned , and difficult to put to together. The drawers don’t slide well. Everything about this product was a disappointment. It honestly makes me not want to order from Wayfair after the quality of this product
Poor material and very disappointed
You should need lot of patience and material is very bad. It took 3 hrs to assemble. Few pieces are broken . End up gluing to attach the piece . Broken pieces of Desk. Very disappointing.
Cheap and not worth the money
The product looks great in pictures however the reality is far from what you see online. The materials are absolute junk. I have never seen so many cracked and chipped pieces. The colors are faded and the particle board wood began to flake away immediately. I actually contacted home depot for a return but because it was partially assembled they were no help. I trashed the desk without even using it. JUNK. Do not waste your money on this.
Not worth it
I have the Monarch Hill Poppy Collection, the night stand, the dresser, and I figured since my daughter was starting school it’d be a good idea to get her the matching desk… this took me forever to put together, and not because of the instructions but because of the quality of the wood. Screw holes would be too big to screw into, other holes wouldn’t line up therefore puncturing nearby and creating a crack, nothing would line up and required a lot of pushing into. Hence: I had the same issues with the other items aswell. Not to mention the wooden pieces that needed water to be activated. It was just a mess. Wondering how long this desk will hold up, but for those who haven’t bought it yet, don’t. Only giving it a 2 stars because of how nice it looks.
very pretty and reasonably priced.
I bought 2-- both my girls (pre-teen) and teenager liked the desk. I was worried that it would be too baby like and too small--as both my girls are older and tall and long legged. But it was actually just right, cute and pretty but not too baby-like (depends on your taste though)-- It was not too small, it is average size, same size as a medium/compact adult desk. The price is relatively low, so i did not expect solid wood construction or heirloom quality--it's similar to IKEA furniture and it should last them for a few years. My husband complained that the building of the desks can be challenging and took longer than he expected (partially because there are particle board type pieces that are delicate during the build). But overall i'm happy and so are the girls and the desks look beautiful in the room.
Do not buy this desk!
This is the cheapest desk I have ever seen. The material is very bad quality. There is ugly space left all around the 3 drawers. Also, the drawers are smaller than what they appear in the picture. There is unnecessary space left behind the drawers. You loose a storage space. You can see in the picture I provided. The picture shows the space when the drawer is closed all the way. Avoid spending your money on this desk. Also, the desk gets dirty just by touching it. We had it for a week but it already looks very much used. I would add more pictures if the system would allow me to.
Very cute
I did read many of the reviews before purchasing the desk.
Poor desk
So hard to assemble and its a waste of time. Drawers are hard to open and close and dont align at all. It takes many hours to put together. The drawers are crooked. Definitely a waste of money and time. It may look pretty on the outside but it doesnt look good when u put it. Doesnt matter how accurate u put it theres still flaws in this product. If you are reading this and see all the other comments that says irs great, ignore it. Its a cheap product. Dont get it. I did the same thing and saw all the positive comments and ignored the bad ones.
Looks cute but had issues with quality
We liked the look of this desk and it looks cute in our 8 yr old's room, however, we were disappointed with several things about this desk. Based on the price we knew we were not going to get a fine piece of furniture, but we have purchased similar items from places like IKEA and this particular desk had a few issues with quality. First, my husband had to re-drill holes for the drawer slides because they didn't line up correctly to pull the drawers out. He also reinforced the drawer bottoms with small pieces of wood because the drawer bottoms are kind of flimsy. Second, it came with a flimsy piece of cardboard (not even particle board!) for the backing; my husband added a sturdier piece of particle board for the backing. We have purchased inexpensive pieces like this for our kids in the past (because you don't have to worry about them and normal wear and tear), but this particular item was a little disappointing.
Cute but Not good
After reading all the great reviews, I was so excited to get this desk for my daughter. It took me alone 4 1/2 hours of built time. During assembly, my hands, arms and face started getting itchy. It felt like I was getting miniature wood splinters on my skin or an allergy. I don't know if it was the wood dust that covered the desk pieces or the wood chip itself. The desk is heavy, the drawers are stiff and don't glide smoothly, and the laminate on the drawers seemed to be peeling from the edges. Giving the above reasons, I doubt the desk will last for years to come, specially around busy kids. Although I wiped the desk after assembly, I didn't feel confortable leaving the itchy desk in my daughter's room, so I decided to disassemble and return to store. During disassembly I had a helper and both of us started itching all over, so I know it's not allergies. Disassembly and repacking everything in it original packaging took about 2 hours. I would not recommend this product. I would recommend you spend your money and buy something made of solid wood. I plan to spend less than the $150+ tax I spent on this and refurbished a solid wood desk. This desk is cute, love the ombre colors and shape, just not the quality.
Cute Spacious Desk
Little Seeds Monarch Hill Poppy Desk arrived in a large, well-packaged, heavy box. The actual desk box was packaged inside of an outer box providing good protection against shipping damage. Once I opened the desk box, I sorted all thirty-nine boards and eighty-four parts. At first, I felt a bit overwhelmed by the job ahead of me and was thinking this may be a desk to pay a bit extra to include assembly. As I began to start, I realized it was a very similar build to many desks, beds and shelving units I have ordered and built previously just with more boards and parts. I was happy to see that the parts all required a regular screwdriver versus the L key. I would have prefered to have a different style locking system for the screws instead of the cam locks and cam bolts. I think it may just be me but I sure struggle to get those cam locks locked correctly. Keep in mind that this does come with wood glue so be ready to build away from your carpet or rug. I started to gain confidence in building the desk and made two mistakes. First, I put a board on upside down and didn’t realize until another piece would not lay flat against it. It was only a few easy steps back to fix. Then, once I had the main frame of the desk built, I realized I had put a piece facing the wrong way. I could have taken most of the desk frame apart and fixed it but I didn’t. You probably can tell in the photo. However, since the photo, I just easily painted the brown board that was showing white and it’s like a mistake was never even made. The drawers are time consuming to put together but well worth it. They came with quality tracks. The drawers open and shut smoothly. The company kindly adds two styles of handles to choose from for the drawers. My daughter loved the diamond styled ones over the more plain modern style I preferred. Once all was together and standing, right away I was loving the white and grey. My daughter’s room has purple walls with white trim with a large grey, dollhouse style bookshelf in it. This desk in the white with the grey gradient drawers really ties the colors of the room together. The overall quality of the finished desk is good. I was worried that the plastic feet that go on one side of the desk would not look right with the wood ones on the other side but honestly once the desk is standing you can’t even tell there is a difference. The top of the desk is a good size for large items. Easily, a laptop, lamp and leftover writing space is possible. For my daughter, books, crafts, a lamp and her record player all fit. The drawers keep all the extras, like paper, pens and so on tidy and put away neatly. This is a desk size that she will have to grow into a bit. I’m thinking it’s tall enough for ages eight to eighteen. Either way she will grow into it. Overall, the desk is such a cute addition to her room and she is ecstatic to have it.
Sturdy and Functional Desk
I ordered this desk because it would fit in the space I had in my room
