I think I liked these runners a lot more when I paid $80 each for them. The price increase over the past 2 years or so is unbelievable. These rugs are virtually not able to be cleaned when you spill on them. I wouldn't continue buying them except I have 2 others in my house so to keep the uniformity I continue replacing with these. Eventually I'll just have to replace them all. I love the sisal look which is why I keep coming back to them.
I loved the look of this rug but was majorly disappointed after a few weeks when I realized that it was impossible to clean spills off it. Since it was being used in a dining room it did not fair well. Also when we took it up to replace it all the rubber backing had adhered to our wood flooring. What a mess.
This area rug has a great sculptured look and feel. It adds a level of design to any room. The color is creamy-not white white at all. We are always happy with the quality of Safavieh rugs from overstock. We have three of them-one in our living room, dining room, and office. All are durable and look great. We do however scotchguard our rugs.
Curling issue
I really like this rug. In fact this is my second of the same one however this one came with the border edge rolled and no matter what I do it will not flatten. I am well aware that rugs need time to lay flat but this is a different curl. It’s as if there is a tube like edge and now it’s getting worn and pilly from people tripping on it. I’ve done everything.
I purchased this rug during a special promotion and saved it for our new home that we were having built. We just recently moved into our home and our movers unwrapped the rug, which was still in its original packaging, and placed it in our living room with all of our furniture on it. When we arrived at our home we noticed 2 very large stains/discolored areas on the rug where it had been folded. I immediately called Overstocks to let them know and they are refusing to either replace the rug, or take it back and give me a refund. I feel like I have been robbed and I am now stuck with a damaged rug in a brand new home. I have called Overstocks several times and have spoken to a manager and nothing has been done. The manager told me that it was Safavieh that was refusing to take the rug back and offer a replacement, but when I called Safavieh, they said it was Overstocks. I will now have to contact the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint against both companies. Do not purchase anything from either of these companies!
After purchasing rugs from quite a few other manufacturers sold on Overstock, I am totally sold on Safavieh rugs. I have purchased this particular rug in several sizes, and all have held up beautifully. The border is wearing very well, has not started to fray or come detached from the rug, as I have seen happen with other rugs of this style. The fibers on the rug are holding up very well, and the cleaning is simple. They do beautifully with either a traditional vacuum cleaner with beater bar, or with a robotic vacuum. They don’t shed a great deal of fiber/grass, and so my robotic vacuum can vacuum this large rug and move to another room and keep going as the dirt bin is not overfilled with carpet fiber. Nice! The only negative I would note is that for those allergic to latex, or with friends that will come into your home with latex allergies, this rug has a latex backing. I have noticed that most rug manufacturers are moving away from using latex in their backing, but this rug is still made with it. Just an FYI.
I love this rug. I purchased this one in size 10 x 14. We recently replaced our carpet with wood flooring and are using sisal and cotton area rugs throughout the house. We have dogs and horses and I wanted affordable rugs that could be replaced if they became ruined. These are not rugs that you can expect to shampoo. On the other hand, I have had dark sisal in the past and had no problems with stains showing. They vacuum like a dream. The price on this room size rug was excellent. I have used sisal rugs in the past and are very familiar with them. I love the flat weave. These are not soft rugs so perhaps not ideal for babies crawling around. But they are great for families with dogs and kids who live hard in their house. The color is a dark gray, nearly but not quite black. I think my rug looks a tad darker than the photo. I have a smaller black sisal rug in an adjacent study and while these rugs don’t match exactly they have a similar weave and complement each other nicely. As often with natural fibers, there is some slight variation in the color from lighter to darker shades of gray in the rug. Also, if you haven’t used sisal before, you should know that the larger room size ones can wrinkle just a little from daily use. This is ok for me because I feel the style is in keeping with our natural casual style, but if you want a completely unwrinkled room size rug, sisal may not be for you. To straighten out the wrinkles just give the corners a tug. To me the wrinkles are hardly noticeable and I only need to straighten them out when I vacuum or even less often. Very easy to vacuum. True to size. The reason I only gave it 4 stars is because after unfolding it, there was a very obvious crease down the middle caused by the rug being folded in half for shipping, but after two weeks of use the crease is much less obvious and is going away. The rug has a bit of a chemical smell which I hope fades quickly, but to be honest so do my brand new wood floors. I am using this rug with a felt rug pad which makes a huge difference in how the rug feels under your feet. It’s possible the cushy pad is contributing to the rug wrinkling a bit with heavy daily use, but besides the extra comfort I’m counting on the rug pad providing and extra layer of protection to my gorgeous new wood floors. The rug has a latex backing, but in the past I’ve had the latex backing on sisal rugs degrade and leave a powdery residue on my floor so this time I spent a little extra and bought the felt rug pads. The felt pad is not non slip but my rug is anchored by plenty of furniture. You could use this rug without a separate rug pad. This rug arrived securely packaged with no mishaps. Despite the large size my teen son and I had it unwrapped and in place within just a few minutes. It is not terribly heavy. I am considering buying another for use in my dining room.
Combined 2 as a stairway runner
I bought 2 of these and combined them to make a runner for our basement stairs. There are lots of videos on YouTube and instructions on Pinterest to show you how to do this. Nice, dark modern color (both runners were exactly the same color thankfully). Thick enough that they had a bit of cushion, but thin enough to cut with a carpet shears (it was NOT easy making that first cut in a brand new runner, though!)
