Easy to set up and take down; fair price
So far, the cabanas have been very useful. I purchased 2. It is easy to fill 4 corner pockets with sand; easily opens like a beach umbrella; the pattern I purchased is beautiful (with starfish %26 shells - turquoise, royal blue %26 white). The carrying case is a plus. The cabana withstood a very breezy beach day, so that is why I highly recommend.
Amazing!! So easy!!
This umbrella/cabana provided so much shade, and was so easy to set up!! It’s not incredibly lightweight to haul if you have a long walk to the beach, but that pales in comparison to the experience it provides while on the beach! I burn easy but I enjoy the breeze and views at the beach, so this was a life saver when I wasn’t in the water! We went to the beach with another couple and they also thought it was so nice that they bought their own after the trip! Worth the money in my opinion!!
Staying up when all other umbrellas failing
We are currently at the beach for the inaugural trip with this umbrella and it's fantastic. We have some high winds and other umbrellas are falling over or turning inside out. This thing is barely budging. Seriously, it's not even flapping in the wind. It was super simple to put up and seems very well made. Would buy again, hands down. In fact, several friends currently on Amazon looking to have another one shipped to the beach house. It's not huge but 3 adults can comfortably fit in the shade without using the additional wall flap. Would have more shade if we put that up. Don't debate, just buy it.Only cons, and they are minor, are that the Velcro strap is easy to lose because it's not attached and also I wish the handle to screw the pole into the sand was attached/folded down (again because I'm afraid we might lose it).
So easy to use!
I didn’t get the color I ordered b it didn’t even realize until I came to write this review. Kind of bummed about that but oh well.Lightweight and easy to carry it, a beach bag, and hold a toddlers hand crossing the road.Once at the beach I was able to set it up alone and it was pretty easy, even with it being the first time doing it. First you screw the center post into the ground, then you put the umbrella in and it snaps into place, then you open the umbrella and bring the “legs down”, the end of the legs have a drawstring bag you fill with sand, my sons beach shovel made this quick work. The wall can go on any side and can be moved as the sun’s position changes throughout the day. My only advice would be to screw the post in deeper than you would think the first time so you don’t have to keep adjusting it once you’ve opened the umbrella to make sure the legs aren’t off the ground.I’m 5’5” and can stand in the tent but my 6’2” husband can’t. It’s plenty of room for 2.5 people and meets our needs well.
Perfect for the beach
My husband and kids are all very fair skinned so having a good umbrella or tent is crucial for our annual beach vacation. This item was perfect. Soooo much better than a regular umbrella, and those umbrellas that stale into the sand. You get more room, more shade and air flow. Some other beach tents are hot and only for one adult with a beach chair. This fit two adults and two kids, with room to spare. Great sun protection, no burns for this family! It was easy to assemble, like an umbrella but you also fill up the four sand bags on the corners. Easy take down too! A few days were pretty windy and this thing stood strong, no issues. I actually had several people compliment it and ask me where I got it. So happy with this purchase.
Stable in wind
This is worth 5 stars overall for stability in wind once assembled but it’s just a *bit* tricky to assemble.First of all, it really does require 2 people or else it’s going to be at least significantly more difficult with one. It’s basically an umbrella, which is good for set up. Other “cabanas” can be kind of tents, with multiple parts and or complicated set ups. But this is basically like deploying an umbrella. A few tricky points and tips below. You’ll want to bury it in the sand farther than the directions say (the blue line on the bottom pole). Especially if it’s at all windy. The bottom pole has a screw to screw into the sand instead of digging a hole. It comes with a small rod that you put through the two button holes that later lock the top part in place. The small rod is used as a handle to screw the bottom into the sand. Again go past the blue line. The pictured finished “cabana” shown was assembled on a day quite windy (10-20 mph winds) and stood steady for the whole day without further attention. Note, the little table doesn’t come with this that was purchased separately. As I said it’s easy enough but for two crucial steps. One, when you open up the umbrella top portion the red lever (pictured) that holds it in place is a bit difficult to release (the latch) and open up the umbrella part. It’s not spring loaded like usual hand held umbrellas in other words. But with one person holding the end level, and the other releasing the red latch it’s easy enough to open I suppose. Just takes a bit of force.Secondly, and this is the trickiest part, the silver pop out buttons that lock the upper to the lower rod as shown, are not obvious how to line up when guiding the (somewhat top heavy) umbrella into the lower rod. What would help really is if they were made with some kind of guide marking, so you could line the two parts up and keep them lined up as you slide the top part into the bottom. Line a red or white line on both parts so you could keep them lined up to make the silver pop out buttons easily snap into place as they got to the holes. Otherwise, as you can imagine, it’s like a guessing game trying to find at what level and position the buttons are to get them to snap out of the holes. Takes a bit of focus and strength to keep the top lined up to the bottom as you guide it down to where the holes are. You’ll also want to be sure both buttons snap in place sometimes one of them isn’t quite lined up. Again with two people this process is easier. I intend to paint some guide lines on the poles to simplify this step in the future.Other than those two issues it works great. And stays in place even in high winds. One final piece of advice: dig a small hole for each of the 4 sandbags and put them in the hole after you fill the bags with sand. They seem to be even more stable when you do that (instead of just laying them on the sand). It can accommodate a person about 5’8” tall when assembled, without crouching down, even if you bury the center rod past the blue line. If you stop at the blue line (on non windy days) might even go to 5’10” although never tried stopping at the blue line.
Lot of issues! Update!
***Update***After contacting the company Outdoor Master about the poor condition of the cabana, Aileen (customer support) apologized for the product I received, and offer to send me a replacement. Finally, I used the cabana this past weekend and I’m very please with the replacement, the cabana is well constructed, I loved that was easy to assemble and you can take it down in a breeze, and store it on his own storage bag. It withstood soft winds (if is too windy you can drill the pole a little more in the sand). I wish it will come with fixing nails for the sandbags. Overall is a great portable product, provides protection, and is ideal for sheltering on the beach.I receive today the item on time, we decide to check it out before use it on the beach next weekend, I’m so glad we did it.They’re a lot of issues I can’t pass, this is a expensive item.1. Carrier bag: has a big hole on one of the ends and one of the black strap is broken.2. Cabana, in more than one place have dirty spots. There are numerous spots that the seams are not correct and the fabric has holes. If we use it at all I will update the review with the new information.
