[Rewarded Review] Looks good, but quality is disappointing
The post is solid, but the box mount to the post feels weak and cheap. Pretty sure it’ll get knocked off by snow from the first plow truck that drives by. Looks nice, but that’s about all I can say.
As I expected, there was an amount of cleanup to do on the mold lines. Easy enough if you have a good utility knife and a good metal scraper. The mold left a post with a bit of a lean in one direction, so, I just had that side not face the street so that the whole box wouldn't look off-kilter. All of these things I expected because....the difference between a hundred-something dollar post and an eight hundred dollar post....well, there is bound to be a little fixing to do. Additionally, I replaced the 2x4 inside the bracket with a treated 2x4. I also used white spray foam with a long tube inside the bracket support, which is hollow, to provide more stability. Worked great. All as I expected to have to do with this post and it worked out great. The red sign in the photo is a fire number sign, required where I live.
Product is good. Solid plastic. Look not quite as high end as I would have liked. Purchased 12 post and mailboxes because I have a development I'm building out.
Made of plastic that has a subtle texture to it that tends to trap tiny specks of mould and dirt in it. Anything white needs to be cleaned to keep it looking good anyway. We’ve had it for two years now with no warping or breaking. Needs a strong interior base to keep it upright. It’s hollow on the inside. We slipped it over a 4x4 cemented into the ground.
Disappointed. Love the look but it won’t last
This thing is wobbly as all get out. No idea how to support it better but shouldn’t come this way out of the box. There are also imperfections all over (and this is the second unit I had to get, the first was warped and had similar imperfections). Add a $100+ price tag and I would find a better alternative. Very disappointed.
Missing important piece!
I was really excited about the mailbox post. Opened up the box and in it was the pretty post but not the part that the mailbox needs to sit on. I bought this in May and was just able to get to this project, so disappointing. I'm not sure if Walmart can make this right, since I bought it almost 2 months ago. Frustrating!
Extremely unhappy with this purchase. I did not open the package when it was delivered because we were in the process of moving and this was for our new home. I ordered to mailbox and this post. My husband and I went to put the mailbox up yesterday And the piece that holds the mailbox up was missing from the box. I contacted Wayfair yesterday and they said because it was past 30 days nothing that they could do. So now I have a plastic post mailbox and nothing to hold the mailbox up. I am extremely disappointed That this company has let me down. I’ve purchased items from them in the past with no issues. Actually last night after I dealt with them, I went and purchased more items.
Lived up to my expectations.
The post is beautiful and easy to put together. However the biggest negative was that the arm under the platform is weak and cheaply built. The mailbox swings side to side and wobbles every time you open and close it. Makes it feel cheap. We had to add extra boltsscrews into it to make it sturdier. Still wobbles but not as bad. Also you’ll need to by a 4x4 of course but also a wood base that goes under the mailbox. Heads up- it’s needed but not included so save yourself a second trip to the hardware store and get it when you buy the post.
Post is ok. Plastic not PVC. The arm that supports the mailbox is also plastic and not study enough to support our mailbox so it is sagging under the weight. I tried purchasing a lighter mailbox but that did not remedy the problem. I would suggest looking for a PVC or wood product and would not recommend
Hard to assemble, mailbox does not lay flat. It angles away from the back post. Not what I expected. Its plastic. The post is attractive and if the material were not molded plastic it would look better. A plus is that it is very lite. Instructions were not included in the box.
Lovely to look at, not a sturdy arm
I want to love this, it's pretty, but design of the arm attaching to post is less than desirable. We did everything we could to reinforce the arm, before putting on the mailbox, and it still wobbled. We were too far along in the process of putting it in to be able to return anything. So it's up, how long before the arm falls off, who knows. .. Just not very stable even after reinforcing it... So wanted to love it.

While the post is very sturdy, especially if you set your 4x4 in cement, the mailbox arm is very flimsy. (You don't know how flimsy (side to side) it is until you get it completely mounted). It comes with a 2x4 inside the horizontal mailbox arm to mount the mailbox to, however plastic is all that is screwed into the post, no wooden braces there. This would have been better if it was hard plastic / vinyl like fencing rather than than the softer plastic. Wondering if the snow from the plows will break it off, or if it will bend and just spring back. Will see on Monday....
Worth the effort!
Looks great, but... finding a mailbox to attach will require some investigation. The one we chose could only be attached with a board underneath. It is still a bit wobbly. We did attempt to put a very long screw through the back of the mailbox into the post. But there is a gap between the mail box and the post. We planned to slip it over the original post but that put the mail box too close to the street so we set a new post. July in Texas is not the time to be working on a new mailbox, but it turned out very nice.
Attachment points could be better
We purchased this post a little over a month ago. Here is what we discovered.
Pretty Mailbox
So I love this post. That’s all it is. It’s a post and you have to buy the mailbox separately. I think it’s super pretty but a bit pricey for what it is. I guess I was under the impression it came with everything. My own fault for assuming. Otherwise looks great. Not sure how it holds up as I’ve only had it for a few months.
I was afraid of this mailbox post looking cheap because of the polyethylene material (we also purchased the mailbox which is metal); however it is very well made and looks incredible. Now I’ve been noticing the mailboxes around the neighborhood and we by far, have the nicest one! Install was relatively easy and I was able to place it over our old wooden post (just had to cut off the “arm” off of the old) and it slid right on. Also, I was able to buy matching lamp posts, which I was not able to do anywhere else. We have rec’d numerous compliments.

Very nice mail box post. I slipped it over my old box and was done in minutes. I happened to have a 1" x 10" lumber which I cut down to size to attach to the mail box I purchased (which you will need). Only thing I would complain about is the mail box wobbles a bit side to side. I attached a couple screws strategically to the inside wooden post which helped. Also make sure to place the bottom in an inch of dirt to keep it from wobbling too.

This product was so easy to use. It did come in two parts the post and arm. I placed it over my existing wooden post and added the arm. I added two addition screws to the arm to make it a little more stable. The instructions weren't user friendly. I was able to understand how to assembly the product without the instructions. It took me less than an hour to assemble the post and mailbox. I love the outcome. I have had many comments on the new mailbox and mailbox post. I have had my mailbox around a month. We had a large hail storm this past week, the size of golf balls, with no damage to the mailbox post.

Looks great, easy to assemble. I placed it over an existing 4x4 post which made the replacement process much quicker. I used it with the Ambrose mailbox in black and the universal mounting board. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because when fully installed, the arm that holds the mailbox was still wobbly. I added additional screws which I covered with some extra screw head covers that came with the post (I painted them black). I also added a large washer and bolt through the lower backside of the post to attach it to the ground post. According to the directions, it would just slide over top of your post and I didn’t want it to be able to come off, particularly during a hurricane. I painted the head of the bolt and washer black and you’d never notice it.
