I bought this shoe bench to streamline my entry area and provide a seat to put on shoes. This bench looks very good, is of great quality, and is sturdy enough to sit on without fear. I decided to try the mid-century modern style compared to bulkier benches online. I love this look and found the chestnut color of the wood blends with my lighter flooring. The only wish I have is that it would have been 1-2" taller. But that would not deter me from recommending this product. Delivered in 3 days and packed well.

This was one of the worst purchases I ever made first of all I had to put the whole thing together and second of all it has a smell a factory chemical smell that is so strong that I can't even keep it in my house. I've had it out in the garage for a month. I brought it back in only for it to smell the whole house up again something off the fabric so I won't even be able to use it.

I wanted to love this and I don't hate it but after assembling the entire piece the very last leg I tried to screw on (the one in the middle) would not go in. I tried various legs to make sure it wasn't just the wrong leg and it seemed the inside piece was stripped or the wrong size so the 5th and middle leg is not on it. This concerns me as far as structural integrity goes. I considered requesting a new piece but I really don't feel like assembling all over again. Looks nice, not sure how long it will last without that support.

Looks great, is sturdy and was easy to put together even if it took a little longer than estimated (that's probably more to do with me than anything else). I've bought other things from safavieh and I've had good luck.

Product Received Had Many Quality Issues

This product looks "nice" but the product I received had many quality issues. I wouldn't recommend purchasing if you don't want to spend more time required than needed to assemble this product due to having to make accommodation to make the assembly work. During assemble I came across the following issues: - there were a few pre drilled holes that were missing; pre drilled the holes myself - some pre drilled holes were not fully drilled; semi circle hole vs circular hole (this caused the wood to block the holes and had to be drilled out) - the dowel holes were to small and had to force the dowels into their holes with a hammer - lock washer screws were very lose in some sections and would not piece together sections tightly to connect them

Nursery Bench

It's a nice little bench. Sturdy enough for my 200+ pound husband to sit on, and hopefully past through a few kids. We're using the shelves for books, and a good number of paperbacks are too tall, but the board books for great!

Great little storage bench

This is a nice, sturdy piece of furniture made of real wood. We use it in our dining room and it's great for storing our oversized cookbooks. It arrived with a small tear in the fabric of the cushion, and I'm still waiting for the situation to be resolved with customer service (hence the 4 stars instead of 5) but the product itself, defect/damage aside, is of good quality.

Great for entryway

This works great for our entry. It is good quality with a clean contemporary look. We did buy square baskets (Birdrock Home Storage Shelf Baskets, Sea Grass) to put in shelves but they were too tall. I’m not sure if the baskets weren’t standard or the shelf space.

Buy it, you wont be disappointed

Beautiful bench. REAL WOOD, not FAKE. Love the color. Very strong. Easy assembly, took about an hour. Lots of screws, but directions were very clear. A little smaller than we thought, but the measurements are accurate. I read a lot of reviews about the smell, but it's not that bad, although I've only had it a day.

good quality entry bench w storage shelf at reasonable cost

easy to assemble, i was careful and took my time; unpack to finished product w cardboard into recycling bin took just under 2 hours; i am a decent carpenter/builder so don't be surprised of it takes this long.

Solid bench

Arrived packaged well. Easy to assemble, took about 30 minutes with 1 person. Would be quicker if I used a drill instead of a screwdriver. The wood is good solid material and the linen of the cushion seems durable. A slight odor but disappeared after a few days.

Smells terrible

The shoe bench looks as it does in the reviews, perfect size and good quality for the price. I'm rating this 3 stars because the wood absolutely reeked of chemicals. It was so bad that we had to cover it with a blanket in the middle of the night because it smelled several rooms away in our bedroom. This morning, the whole house stank. Who knows what's creating that smell, but I can't imagine it's healthy to breathe.

Cute bench, horrible chemical smell

This bench is pretty cute once put together. The time it took was a little longer than expected to get all the pieces and hardware together, but it is a nice looking bench. The smell is overtaking my house though and I even left the seating platform outside to air for a good bit before putting it all together. I’ve added a plug-in air freshener to the room, sprayed it with multiple natural and unscented air reducing sprays (vinegar mix, Clorox disinfecting spray), and sprinkled baking soda on it. I finally had to turn on fans and open windows. I may put it outside or in the basement for a while. The degassing, as it’s called online, is atrocious and has definitely made me think twice before purchasing furniture like this again. The amount of packaging has as well. I don’t find these two things to justify the cost and look of the item, but I don’t want to go through the hassle of taking it apart and putting it back in the packaging to return it. I have purchased other Safavieh items before and been more pleased. I will never buy another with fabric though, if I do buy another product from them at all.
