Product not as advertised
Description says that it is linkable. The picture shows the linking system in the back. The one I received had no linking system. In the spot where it is supposed to be there are 2 solid protrusions of the same molded plastic the barrel is made of. No way, for water to come out and the black threaded piece in the picture which you attach a hose to is not there. Unusable except as a single barrel or the beginning of a linked system, which I already have.
Seems like a good barrel
But with a whole barrel, why put the label on the grill/grate where you want it to fill with water?
Not as pictured
Just received the rain barrel. Not as pictured. Solid brown, not 2 tone as shown.
Save your money
This is the second one from this brand, and both have leaked. It's not leaking from the threads, but from where they melted the threaded socket into the barrel. The paint job on mine was really bad. It had black spray on the barrel and the rings didn't get painted all the way. Looks great in the photo but mine looked nothing like that. It's a very thin plastic and seamed together up the sides. Save the money and get a food-grade barrel for 20-30 dollars then paint it.
Rain Barrell
It's a great start to collecting rain. The design could be better. There should be a connection to an overflow, since the Barrell feels up quickly. The hole at the top should also be larger to be able to reach down in the Barrell for either connecting to an overflow or attaching a connection. In addition the screen mesh on the top is too rigid, causing the water to splash out and down the sides. We made a larger hole and attached a different screen. Like I said, it a good start to what you need, but the design could be better.
Rain barrel review
Rain barrel was just as advertised. Needed to put barrel on concrete blocks to be able to get sprinkling can under spout. Design would have been better if there was a gutter transition built in to the top so that house gutter just doesn’t rest on screened top, water does splatter all over. A little expensive for what you actually get.., a plastic barrel, but it works.
Rustic Rain Barrel
This rain barrel is all one piece, does not have a removal top, very solid and sturdy. It matched the gutter down spout color perfectly, but itself is one color. The picture makes it look like its 2 colors. All the accouterments were as promised and easy to install.

Easy to install. Works well. I downgraded from 5 to 4 because I had to replace the brass faucet that came with the barrel as the original broke with normal use. I used a steel 50 gallon hot water heater stand from HD as a stand to hold the barrel. Panted the stand black with spray paint/primer.
[Rewarded Review] Rain barrels
I ordered 2 of these. I gave it 4 stars even though 1 was leaking a little after it filled with rain water the first time. The customer service was very kind and said l could return it. I had asked if there were some type of sealant that would help because l didn’t want to drain my precious rain water. They gave me a gift card to purchase some sealant. I will put the sealant on at the end of the season when l empty my barrels. One thing l would suggest is better spigots for them. I have arthritis in both hands and would rather have the lever type handle that you just pull and push to open and close the spigot—WAY easier on my hands! The water flows out much faster with that kind too.
I wouldn’t buy this one
Leaks. Came with glue smeared over the front. Top doesn’t drain unto the barrel properly. The top is evenly concave with the lowest part in the center, but the drain is build into the side of the top causing water to collect in the center of the top. It’s perfect for mosquito breeding
Not designed for real rain events.
Beware that the overflow pours out from 4 holes drilled in the top (recessed like a handle) of the barrel. Not recommended for foundation areas. We drilled the faux drainage pipes in the back and rigged overflow hoses. In addition, be aware that the plastic screen on top lacks the flow-through drainage needed for heavier rains. We replaced it.
We use this lovely barrel as a backup for times when the power goes off and the water pump does not operate to the house...toilets still need flushing! It also is located near my garden and provides easy access to connect a drip hose for a few days if we are out of town. We did put a few bricks under it to lift it just enough to allow a small bucket to be placed under the faucet, but if a garden hose is all that is desired, it is perfect just as is on the ground. A very attractive barrel for my garden!
Good quility rain barral
I bough a different rain barrel from Hayneedle about one year ago and wanted to get another one that's little smaller. This rain barrel holds 50 gallons of water and it's a perfect size for what I wanted. After reading some of the reviews I wasn't sure if I wanted to go with Good Ideas Resin Rain Vault rain barrel, but the description and pic on the website was exactly what I was looking for. The rain barrel is all set up and full of water after a good rain fall. I just love it, it's great quality, durable, there is no leaks anywhere. The spout was very easy to install, (don't over tighten it when screwing it in) works great and there is a nice pressure when using the water. Another thing I like is that the small openings for overflow of water are on the front side, away from the house. I would defiantly recommend this rain barrel. Thanks Hayneedle for selling good quality and good selections.
Pinhole Leak
My RainWizard 50 came without the retangular cutout and screen on the top of the barrel, otherwise it was identical to the picture. It had only a 1 1/2 inch hole for the hose that connects to my downspout. As a result unfiltered water quickly plugged up the poor quality hose bib that came with the barrel. The small openings made it very difficult to remove the plastic shavings that came in the barrel originally. It was nearly impossible to not cross thread the hose bib when attaching to the barrel. The final deal breaker occured when we finally got some rain. The barrel filled quickly and had a pinhole leak near the bottom of the barrel on the seam where the 2 halves are joined. Buyer beware.
