Desk needs a new chassis

This desk is very difficult to move around. It is hard to move on a wood floor but almost impossible to move on carpet. I am now in the process of trying different swivel wheels from Home depot and Harbor Freight. The drawers are also very tight and difficult to open. Personally I would have rather the color be a true white instead of an off white. I keep it in my bedroom which has white trim and armoires.

I would NEVER purchase this desk if it would be disclosed that I’m purchased 35 pieces of precut material and more than dozen types of fasteners. There should be an appropriate disclosure. More, as soon as you unpack it, it is almost guaranteed that you won’t be able to repack it to send it back.

This cabinet was exactly what I needed to organize all my things! It fit in the space perfectly, as the dimensions said it would. Assembly was not as easy as I expected but I am no pro either. I did get it done though! It arrived in good time also and in good condition.

Not Perfect But More Than Good Enough

I DO recommend buying this cabinet, but if you don't mind a longer review, please see below. Always scary buying something when there are no reviews, but this filing cabinet fit my needs too perfectly to not get it. For functionality, it gets 5/5. I didn't even realize it has two plugs and a USB port in/out at the top until after placing the order, so that's really awesome for powering printers. For building quality (quality of materials), I'd probably give it a 4. It isn't made of actual wood, but is sturdy, though the backing is made of flimsier material (but they give you some plastic pegs to reinforce the back, which I show in my pictures. Also, yes, one part of the back does have black tape down it, but most people will likely place theirs against a wall, where it's not noticeable). The sides and the top rail going along the back are metal, and because it's on wheels, it's easy to grab from multiple angles and move around. My printer is a bulky Canon and the top has not bent under its weight. The worst part of this thing though is of course building it. You might know what to do, but actually doing it may be difficult. It says to have two people, but I didn't have anyone to assist, so I did it myself over the course of two days. Whether building alone or with help, my biggest suggestion is to maybe invest in some actual tools so you're not stuck using theirs, which are small and uncomfortable. A size 4 allen wrench with a handle, a size 12 standard wrench (best for the castors/wheels), and of course, a standard Philips head screwdriver (use power tools at your own discretion. I have a power screwdriver, but opted to be safe and not use it). Worst section with building this was inserting the drawers, which is seriously difficult with only one set of hands. My top two drawers are just a tiny bit crooked, but the bottom one is a bit more noticeable (notice in the front-facing image, the bottom drawer is tilted a bit more to the right by about two centimeters or so. The top drawers are off by a few millimeters, but you notice it mostly when you open and close the drawers, as they stick a little bit). I tried to pull the bottom one out to re-align it and initially couldn't get it off the track, which made me panic. Putting this here for anyone else who gets this cabinet and needs to do the same, please refer back to step one in the instructions, which start with disconnecting the pieces that will be used to build the drawer rails. There's a plastic switch-like part that you will press and that will disconnect the drawer from the rail. The slight crookedness of my drawers could also be from the holes for the rails not being perfectly centered on both sides (though I aligned all pieces with the given pilot holes, but still possible for those to be incorrect), or maybe builder (mine) error. The cabinet sits next to my desk, so I'm not staring at it dead-on and it's not enough to make me hate the item overall. It does open and shut, so I'm happy enough with it. I also broke a castor wheel by stripping the metal stem out of the wheel, so be careful about that. I super-glued it back in, but this is a poor fix and I will look for a replacement at the local hardware stores or order one online. Aside from my small issue with my drawers, I love this cabinet and the ample amount of space I now have to store things.
