Broke in half.

Great idea, poor execution. The plastic has cracked off of it, and today it snapped in half.

[Rewarded Review] Grater redesign improvement

This is an excellent product and unique in that it can be taken apart to store more compactly. It has been redesigned which makes the disassembly process much easier.

Don't recommend

Not very stable. I cut myself a few times on this because it would move while I was grating. I have not had this problem with other graters. And the plastic around the metal grates started cracking

Great grater!

I purchased because this is more compact than typical boxy graters, and it did not disappoint. I really like that the sides can come off (although it's a bit hard to pull them off at first). It easier to use just one side and clean it afterwards. It also takes up almost no space in my dishwasher when I use just one side! All in all, very happy with this purchase

Broke after a few uses

The grater does not hold up to grating blocks of cheddar. The metal grating part has broken off from the plastic. Would not recommend.

Better than the prototype

I had what must have been a prototype of this model for years (or perhaps this is just an improvement on the older version) that came apart at the bottom of the grater. I can see that this model is much more sturdy, as the grating portion is smaller but still large enough. I prefer this foldable model to box graters because I only ever use the large holes for grating. OXO products are consistently utilitarian for serious cooks.

Cheap, not sharp, not stable

I don't know why this item is highly rated (though when you read the actual reviews they are pretty negative). It's not what I expect from OXO. It's poor quality, cheap materials, unstable, and the grates are not sharp. The construction is flimsy too. Very disappointed.

Hazardous

This is the worst cheese grater I’ve ever used. One small slip when grating cheese and your taking your thumb off. This has happened to me three times. It’s because of the amount of pressure needed to grate cheese. This is a dangerous tool and it should be removed from the market.

Cheap Plastic shredder

Broke in half. Not sturdy. Be careful pushing too hard when shredding cheese. I like that it collapsed to save space. But now I have to buy a different one that I should've bought in the 1st place. Save your money.

Fiddly but ok.

This was really hard to take apart. I was afraid of cutting myself, but once it was a part I was pleased with the product. I wasn’t looking for a standup or a box grater so this works well for me now.

Plastic Cracked Shortly After Purchase

Plastic cracked within the first few months we owned it. Now a year later, it’s so badly cracked it’s unusable and needs replaced. It’s only ever been hand washed, never through a high temp dishwasher. It should be much more durable than it is!

I actually bought one of these because I didn’t like having to grip the metal one while trying to keep it still. I can honestly say this thing has come in handy. I also was in between buying a spaetzel maker and found the smaller side of this grater works really well for that. It’s not hard on my hands either so that’s an added bonus. I’m really starting to love the oxo brand!!!

I bought this from Safeway because I needed a grater because the one I had at home broke on me. I didn’t have high expectations but it blew me out of the park because it was that amazing. It definitely lasts because I had mine for almost a year now and it still does an amazing job. I used this to grate cheese, garlic or anything else that needs to be grated. Also, I love the fact that it has 2 sides that have two different sizes. It’s also very comfortable to put into any bowel.

Great for a small grater

Great. Easy to use. The slight convex of each side and the stand make it easy to grate cheese inside a bowl. I even detach the sides from the top handle and then place one of them over a small bowl to grate cheese. Though smaller than other graters, it is sturdy, effective, and efficient, and not clunky to store. It is cheaper, too. You get a lot of bang for your buck...it will be even better if you buy it when it's on sale!

Does not come apart

I like the grater but mine simply will not come apart. I have tried to gently pull the panels out of the handle with no avail. I have even forcefully tried to pull them out but it's not working. Nothing seems to work.

This box grater has all the grating sizes needed for any kitchen task. It is perfect for grating cheese (including both soft cheeses and parmesan) or zesting citrus. The blades stay sharp for a very long time, and the grip is comfortable.

Bad angle for grating

I got this as a wedding gift nearly 6 years ago. I liked that it folded flat as we were limited on kitchen space. We've moved 3 times, and it has fit well in drawers at each place. However, I always hated this grater because I could never get it to sit right over a bowl or plate to grate my food and be stable. I did cut my fingers a few times, but I assume that's a risk with any grater. The plastic part on one side broke one grater side completely off, so I am happily purchasing a different grater and will not be repurchasing this one. The metal under the plastic frame was also rusted. It did a good job at shredding cheese, potatoes, carrots, zucchini, etc, it was just uncomfortable.

Just What Our New House Ordered

We had a somewhat similar model, that rested on the bowl but it cracked. Moving into a new home, we had to do better. So this is just what we needed. Boy! It's Great! We will be looking for more items for our new home and winning this prize will put a cherry on top of the pie. Thanks

Great design, but plastic cracks

Bought it in-store because I loved the rubber grips, how it stands up/folds up, and comes apart if you want. But after using it off-and-on for 2 years, the plastic on the larger grater cracked. I expected it to last longer than that.
