Shipping or pick up process terrible

I ordered this item to be shipped for a birthday. I placed order on 6/1 and it says it is still in order place status. I would have thought it would at least be processing by now. Then I ordered it for pick up from JoAnns near me on 6/6 and it is just in process. How hard is it to fulfill an order when you can go and pick it up off the shelf? No wonder people order from Amazon. This is just ridiculous at this point.

good magnifier

It would have been nice to have a display I could try out in the store, not a "take it or leave it" box. One of the advantages of shopping at a brick and mortar store is in-store displays. Joann should take advantage of it. Read through reviews and learn the shortcomings. Magnifier tends to be scratched but not unuseable. It can break off if you pull on the magnifying part, not the neck. I just got a cateract removed and lost my near vision in one eye, will lose near vision in the other tomorrow. 2x and 4x are good magnification for general work and threading a needle respectively. Magnifier arm could be a little longer. Lamp is stable if you set it up as shown in illustration. Disappointed the main light is a mercury light. Hope replacement bulbs will be available in the future.

I found it too heavy and bulky for my needs. It was difficult to position it for stitching.

Light for crocheting

I’ve waited for this particular lamp to go on sale. I’m so happy with my new lamp. Now I’ll be able to see the tiny stitches when crocheting a table runner or doilies! Much needed,much appreciated.

Sturdy lamp

This lamp is heavy, well made and useful. I have used other of Otto floor lamps but this one is the best. Easy to put together, stays in position, does not swing on its own.

Ungainly and Awkward are my first 2 choices

I've had this lamp for at least ten years and it does put out great light. It is unbalanced, awkward to use and it falls over easily. I'm glad I bought it at half price because it was expensive. The magnifier and clamp are hard to adjust unless you stand up, put your foot on the base and move it close to where you want. Then sit down, grab the neck and fine tune. If it isn't balanced it will fall over. Mine fell over in the middle of the night, scared the heck out of me. It is fairly sturdy in as much as only the light bulb got hurt when it fell over.

I have had one of these lamps for a number of years and love it. I bought a second one so I could move between two different rooms and work on my cross stitch or quilting without having to constantly move the light. The light is excellent and I love how I can adjust where it shines easily. The clip is another plus since I don’t have a lot of table room to put a pattern holder. The magnifier doesn’t get a ton of use but has come in very handy when dealing with knitted threads or even looking for a sliver in my husband’s hand.

This is the Greatest Lamp!

I've wanted this lamp for years, got it on sale for $112.00. The light is pure so I can see every stitch. The holder is a great addition and the magnifying perfect.

Difficult to change configurations

First, after taking the time to assemble this light, it didn't work. Lo and behold, the bulb was broken on the end. Then, I tried showing my husband how it's convertable- I had it set up for the floor, on the long pole. You put the light into the pole and turn about 30 degrees... I couldn't for the life of me undo it, and neither could he. I realized with this much effort (you also have to flip it over and unscrew a nut from the bottom) I'm never going to "convert" it to the other styles. I was initially going to ask for a new bulb from the manufacturer, but when I realized what a pain this is I decided to return it.

Ott Light with Poor Design and Construction

This is the second floor lamp style Ott Lamp we have purchased in a 12 month period. The first had a faulty design that resulted in the two pieces of a supplied pole failing time after time. Recently we purchased another that appeared to be better designed and constructed. NOT TRUE! ON first day, the illuminated magnifying glass broke away from its supporting member. Reason was total failure of "epoxy" between magnifying glass and arm. For the cost, Ott light needs to hire better designers and spend more time and money on field testing a design to make sure it will not fail right out of the box.

Wonderful lamp

I’ve had my lamp over ten years and I absolutely love it. It’s never had any issues. I take care of it and handle it with care. The only thing I had to replace was the lightbulb. It was readily available and easy to do. If I ever need to replace it i would certainly buy the same lamp

Excellent Lighting Fixture

This light fixture are well designed mechanically, to help artists to accomplish one’s goals .

Poor balance and quality

The lamp does not balance properly especially when using the magnifier. In addition it is poor quality since the lamp section snapped (broke)off the pole. very disappointing since I had liked ottlamps

This lamp has spoiled me.

Got this to help with knitting and embroidery projects and I feel spoiled now, I now don't even want to work on my current project (sewing together sweater pieces that were knitted in a very dark green color with very thin yarn) when I can't use my magnifier ring-light!

Everything light

Great craft light. The clip is a bonus to leave your hands free. With the clip and magnifying glass even the smallest project is accomplished with ease.

Ott light

This particular outlet has so many features and such a wide canopy that my work is so well illuminated it’s like being in the sunshine all day. The clip to hold notes, or whatever else might need to be held up while using the light has come in very handy. the magnifying light has proved it’s worth over and over. The stand Bass is very heavy, which makes it very secure on the floor, and the risk of it toppling over at so many heavy, headed lamps can do.

ott light

fantastic. i had one with just the light and wore it out. i have a desk top lamp that i use for my sewing machine. i use this one at my couch. i have vision problems and this light does just the trick. the magnifying feature is awesome. i am able to embroider, knit, or anything else especially well because of the light and enlargement. i like the clip that holds your pattern and the extra outlet is also a great feature. i love it and use it every day.

The Best Crafter's Lamp You Will Have Own!!!

I cannot say enough good things about this versatile lamp. Purchased one for myself a couple of years ago from Michaels and still use it consistently! My Mother-in-Law loved it so much that we have ordered this one for her for Christmas! I must have for any Crafter. If I could give it 10 stars I surely would!!

Great addition to cutting table - light is bright and large and the magnifying area can be moved around so you can have it where you need it. Also great to have choice to convert from standing to table top. In standing mode the base is stable but not too heavy that it cannot be moved around easily
