Super functional shelves.

The product is really nice, very sturdy and functional, it is exactly what we needed.

Outer corners need to be bolted together.

This product is a nice concept and makes for a great storage option but is lacking a safety feature to prevent a total shelf collapse. The 4’x8’ shelf was all in place and I had already placed a few items into one corner. I was going up with a fairly large box and caught the corner of the shelf knocking the outer frame up and out of its 2 slots and suddenly the whole shelf collapsed. Fortunately I wasn’t hurt and nothing broke but the outer corners need to be bolted in place.

The buying process was straightforward with undamaged delivery. Installation was easy. The powder coat finish and heavy gauge steel makes for a durable great looking finished product!!!

Fantastic garbage storage option

Really solid and clean looking. The shelves fit an incredible amount of stuff. I used Task Rabbit to get someone to install them so as not to have to fuss and it was well worth it. Highly recommend.

Pleased

Really nice shelves. Very sturdy. Minor problem with the cables for the 4x8 shelf. The cables popped out. Not sure if they was meant to happen because they reattached. However, I feel a bit uneasy that the shelf may fall.

My home is contemporary. I am using the 2’ width to display my very nice purses in my very unique closet. The 4’ width are going to be used in my garage to get some boxes filled with seasonal goodies off the floor.

Nice project, but even some supposedly pros have trouble getting the thing up, these are really long so be sure to measure carefully. I bought two sets and realized I only needed one. Also some parts were missing but it was easy little things that you can possibly replace for cheap.

New Age Exceeded My Expectations

The New Age shelving system selected for my garage exceeded my expectations. The product is well designed, well-built, and comes with easy installation instructions. I highly recommend their products for anyone interested in a very professional and functional solution.

Cable snapped!

I'm a handy person, I've installed similar shelving units several times without any issues. I followed instructions with precision, yet the cable came detached from its joint up by the wall mount. Not the hook mounted to the wall, the actual cable came detached from its joint. The shelves came crashing down on my garage door track. Please note, this happened with NOTHING on the shelves. 500 characters won't allow the whole story, but to say I'm displeased is an understatement. Incredibly unsafe.

Terrible business practice.

They shipped them missing some of the 1/4" acorn nuts for the 4x8 shelf and missing ALL of the acorn nuts for the 2x8 shelf. When I contacted them, they offered me $20 to get my own because they can't get them. So they sent these shelves to me that are worthless because they are partially installed and the rest of the parts are sitting on my garage floor taking up space. Shelves themselves are 5 star as I already have 2 others installed in my garage. They are great, just shouldn't sell something that you don't have all of the parts for!

Well made product, but missing hardware

Overall it is a nice product very well built but in trying to assemble I found missing hardware which prevents assembly. In working with customer service I am told the replacement hardware will not be available for over a month and nothing else can be done. So I am stuck with a product partially assembled and can not do anything with it while I wait over a month for the hardware. For this reason I would consider looking at other options because of the headache of not being able to install and I am not going to take apart just to try and return.

Not Impressed

As other mentioned, I was missing a whole bunch of bolts and acorn nuts. I had to make several trips to my local hardware store to find something that would work. Very inconvenient. the second thing is this thing is poorly engineered which is shocking and surprising. the overall length of the back plates is a little over 98” but the overall front plate is under 96”. so therefore your two sides are forced in and not square. very disappointed. by the time i realized this it was too late to return.

They look great and I want to love them, however...

They look great and I want to love them, however there are a couple of issues. First, the way they are made to be installed really limits you. Unlike the new age cabinets which have a cleat hanging system that gives you versatility left or right, the shelves have to be anchored into specific studs at specific distances. Basically you have to install these shelves first and then design everything else around them. Secondly, the grid pieces feel cheap. They're light and flexible and just don't feel solid. They just sit in the shelves and aren't really connected.

Can’t say enough about these shelves. Absolutely love the design and they are well built. If you are not mechanically inclined you will most likely have a hard time with the installation. The you tube video helped and made things much easier than the included written instructions. Overall extremely happy with the purchase.

Sways dangerously and and was missing some support parts.

The cross supports that came were too short for the 4x8 shelf. I would be surprised if those would fix the sway that it has. I am afraid it will come crashing down at some point when moving items on or off it. Also the possibility of things falling off when using it because of the sway. There is an option c for constructing it that would provide a doubled up center beam and third cable but it does not come with those. That might help limit the sway. Worried about the safety of this product.

Robust and straightforward installation

I bought the 4x8 and 2x8 shelves in white as part of a garage rehab project I took on. These shelves are super sturdy, fairly easy to install and provide a lot of storage that is up and away. The pro tip I would offer is to ensure your studs are very close to 16 on center where you intend to install the shelves. Mine were slightly off and it made it a bit more tricky. In hindsight I would have chosen a better spot in my garage that wasn’t as far out of tolerance. Overall, I highly recommend these shelves and with proper planning, the install should be very straightforward.

Great quality product at a decent price. The only reason I am rating this product 4 stars is because the wall brackets are really specific to how far out they need to be spaced/mounted. I installed in my garage and the wall studs didn’t exactly line up to their Specific/recommended instructions. If your studs aren’t spaced exactly 48” apart (16” OC) then expect to have to add an additional nailer support between studs and re-drywall where applicable. Wish the brackets were more universal like other storage racks. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase.

Good and Bad

I purchased the 2 x 8 and 4 x 8 combo kit along with a single 2 x 4 and a single 4 x 4. The plan was to make a 4‘ x 12‘ shelf toward the ceiling in a 2’ x 12‘ shelf under it.
