Love this container
Love, love my brown sugar keeper, it keeps my sugar nice and soft!! It looks very neat and beautiful on the counter or pantry. The only drawback is that it doesn’t hold that much brown sugar, I wish that it was larger!
Worked Great!
I followed the directions about soaking the clay disc and transferred my already-hard-as-a-rock brown sugar into the container and tossed i. The disc. To my delight, when I used some brown sugar a few days later it was soft and fluffy like brand new out of the box! It worked great !
Clear Plastic Container
Decided it was time to replace my old, trustworthy Tupperware containers. Decided on the Prepworks Prokeeper line of containers. They do hold the stated amount of product in the different sizes of containers. They are nice, can clearly see what is in them. They seem to seal tightly, time will tell if they maintain this seal. Time will tell if it keeps the Brown Sugar from getting hard. The one drawback that I dislike, it's the fact that there is no little "lip" to hold onto as you open these containers, which can make it somewhat difficult to open up. I am hoping in time, that this will become less of a problem, but we shall see. Another thing to consider is that if this container hits the floor, I think, because is plastic, it will break and the product contained in them would be all over the floor (or counters if you dropped it there).
brown sugar keeper
I don’t live close to Macy’s so, delivery is my option. I don’t have this type of store in my rural area. I bought sock, a night gown and this brown sugar keeper. Whoever packed it put everything th a medium size box with no packing. It arrived busted up. Luckily, I was going to my daughters and past a store. Exchanged it. I was happy but still disappointed. The keeper is great.
I would not buy this again
I soaked the disk as instructed. In a month the sugar was dry and hard. I then soaked the disk longer and the same thing happened. I asked Everything Kitchens and was told I should only have to soak the disk every three months and then referred to manufacturer, who has been no help. I believe the seal is probably faulty. The manufacturer customer service does not even seem to understand how the disk works as they complain about my soaking the disk longer. Will go back to storing the sugar in a zip lock with a disk (my old teddy bear shaped one) in the bag. This lasted six months or more. Note at one point I was told maybe my area was very dry. Ky is not a dry state.
Keeps brown sugar fresh and lump-free
This Brown Sugar Prokeeper is an ideal storage container for brown sugar. The clear container has a silicone seal and is air-tight. It has a terra cotta disk to remove moisture, which keeps brown sugar fresh and clump-free. The 6.5 x 5.25 x 5.5” container holds a 2-pound bag of brown sugar, and has 2, 4, and 6-cup increments on the front so you know approximately how much brown sugar you have on hand. I just purchased my second container to replace the first one I purchased 8 years ago because one of the hinges cracked. Considering all the usage, I think that's a good run.
Perfect container
Holds standard size bag of sugar as it states. I'm writing because the second snap top didn't seem to fit tight so I looked at it closer. The problem was me, push down a bit harder and the fit is tight and snug. It also pushes snug into the top so it stays open when pouring.
Love it!
I bought this and am so glad I did! I saved $8 buying it here. This is the second container I own now. I bought the other one from another merchant site. The exact same item
I should have bought it years ago
It looks exactly as pictured. I put a brick of a brown sugar block thinking I would have to chisel that mofo later for stupid cookies for these damn kids I love. A couple days later the brown sugar was soft and perfect. Why did I make my life hard without this all them wasted years? Buy it. Just buy it.
This is airtight! Works great for Brown sugar
I love this airtight container. I have never had a container that worked to keep my brown sugar. It always got hard and dried out. This container is great because it comes with its own terracotta disc that you add moisture with. I put in hard brown sugar and soaked the disc and voila the brown sugar has been moist and soft ever since.
Pour spout doesn't securely close, hinged top
This is a disappointing product. It is made of thick plastic which is good. However, the The pour spout at top doesn't lock or close firmly. Doesn't provide a good seal or protect from a spill. The top is hinged which can be nice but also doesn't allow for removal for putting in dishwasher. Very small container also, would fit box of brown sugar but far too small for the usual white sugar bag volume.
Love this range of containers, particularly for baking products like flour and sugar. High quality containers that I know I won't need to replace after several years. I like that they are airtight and keep out pantry moths too. The terracotta disc keeps the brown sugar from clumping. This size only just fits a medium sized bag of brown sugar, could be slightly more generous in size. The latching system is the best, it's just a single latch that's easy to use but feels really secure (easier to use then the OXO one). The lid doesn't detach, but I've come to really like this feature.
The plastic bag your brown sugar comes in does a better job...
I've normally kept our brown sugar in the plastic bag it comes in with a chip clip to keep it closed. Worked fine but a hassle to open and scoop. Thought this would be the trick. Nope - hard as a rock. The instructions say to place the terra cotta disk "in the brown sugar" and I'm not sure if they mean literally resting in the sugar or clipped into the holder but I tried both ways and neither worked. It's also a hassle to have to soak the disk occasionally. I'm going back to the bag for now - have never had a problem in the past.
Great product. Sugar can't fit if in the bag
These 2 containers met my needs perfectly. 2 things to mention though.
Excellent Product
I wish I would have had a brown sugar keeper like this one years ago. This is ideal for storing brown sugar. The first one that I ordered had a crack in it. The shipping box was in good condition so it was packed damaged. I ordered two more while they were on sale and they arrived in perfect condition. I've thrown away more brown sugar over the years. But hopefully, I won't need to throw away any more. I think Martha Stewart's Collection of these items are exactly what I need.
Brown Sugar Savior
Don’t you hate when you go to get your brown sugar and it’s hard as a rock? This container is a perfect addition to your kitchen for your brown sugar. It fits a regular box of brown sugar then drop the clay disc, included, into the sugar. This container and clay disc keeps the sugar soft and preserved for a very long time. Love it. Fast delivery and great craftsmanship.
[Rewarded Review] Brown Sugar Prokeeper Storage Container
I got this (and several other containers) after an invasion of mill moths in my pantry. I had never heard of such a thing, but my pest control man said its a fairly common phenomenon and they usually come in as an egg sac from grocery stores, etc. I told him my grandmother, my mother and myself had never had them ...until now...and I've never heard any of my friends mention them either. Apparently, they like grain products, like cereals, flour, sugar, spaghetti, dog or cat
I regret not buying one sooner
I heard about brown sugar bears years ago but never bought one, just thought they were a gimmick. I was just trying to make an order for 35 dollars to get free shipping and decided to purchase this as I've had some rock hard brown sugar I was about to throw out. I saw a review saying that this totally revived rock hard brown sugar. I was a bit skeptical, but less than 24 hours later I checked my brown sugar and it was as if I had just bought it. Totally shocked. I like that the container keeps the terracotta disc out of the brown sugar and you really can't beat the price because most terracotta discs or bears that go into the brown sugar cost almost as much, if not more than this disc and container combined. I'm very happy with this purchase. No more throwing out brown sugar. I have thrown out too much over the years, and I would even try to revive it with a wet paper towel in the microwave but it never worked that great or brought it back to the moisture level of being new. I never write reviews either, but I felt this needed one since its works way better than I expected.
Wonderful Product!
The Prepworks 1.5qt Prokeeper Brown Sugar Container is fantastic! The brown sugar I had was as hard as a rock, which obviously made it difficult to measure. After following the instructions for the terracotta stone and putting the hard brown sugar in the container, I was truly amazed that the following day, the brown sugar was fluffy and fresh just as if I had bought it that day. I also loved the fact that it was not expensive. You cannot go wrong with this product.
