Cute but Temporary. Fell apart in 2 years.
I bought this dresser in 2022 for my new apartment. I added on the service to have it built by a professional, because I did not want to risk it being built wrong. The first problem in year one was that a screw inside one of my drawers was incorrectly placed so that it eventually wore away into a hole, making the screw fall out and my drawer went off track. Now in the second year 3/5 of my drawers are “bottoming out” with the thin wood board at the bottom of the drawers bowing out of the pressure of my clothes. I have not increased the number of items. It seems like the dresser does not withstand normal wear and tear, even when “professionally” built.
This was fairly easy to put together if you follow instructions well. There was a drawer locking safety piece that was a bit confusing. We got the drawer in and locked and had trouble getting it out. We removed the locking pieces and now it is fine. Other than that it is great so far.
Not what I hoped for. The dresser looks great in the picture but is poor quality. Some parts were warped so drawers wouldn't close properly. Decorative arched detail at bottom wouldn’t stay attached. Also very heavy.
Great quality. Extremely heavy but that also means extremely durable. Only complaint is how the bottom decorative “feet” are connected. Very hard to get a flush fitting. Took 2.5 hours to install. Instructions were easy to follow and everything was labeled really well. Overall extremely satisfied with this piece.
Disappointed
I returned immediately after opening box. I knew item required assembly but when I opened the box I was shocked that nothing was pre assembled. It was a bunch of wood and hardware to build this chest. The quality of wood was nice and heavy solid wood so very heavy. However, I went to furniture store and purchased a very similar chest that was fully assembled for almost exact price ( wasn’t solid wood though but I’m ok with that ).
The overall quality of the item I ordered was disappointingly poor. Upon its arrival, I discovered that one part was already broken at the back, although this flaw wouldnt be visible once the item was fully assembled. Despite my previous experience in assembling various furniture items, I encountered an unexpected challenge with this particular purchase. As I began the assembly process, additional parts started to break, which was an unusual occurrence compared to my past experiences where pieces remained intact throughout the assembly. This unexpected fragility and the subsequent issues with multiple parts crumbling during assembly left me quite dissatisfied with the overall quality of the product.
Just ok
I like the dresser color and price however the quality is lacking. The plywood is thin, the drawers are difficult to keep on the track, and one set of the locking joints were the wrong size. I ended up going to the hardware store to complete the dresser. It probably won't last long but you get what you pay for.
Very poor quality. The top board was deflected enough that the top drawer wouldn't close. There was a crack in one of the panels. And the nails it came with to secure the back panel expanded the particle board resulting in bumps on the surface of the side panels.
IMPOSSIBLE TO ASSEMBLE
I threw it out on the curb. It came in hundreds of pieces. Impossible to assemble I gave up. Will not refund me and only sent me a useless video on how to put it back together when I complained. Cheap wooden framework cracked. I would have preferred to give my money to charity. I cannot afford another dresser so I'm left with nothing.
I think the surface color is nice, but the surface itself scratches easily. When I unpacked the box, the sides and top had abrasions from shipping and the drawer fronts have hairline scratches. It's apparently one thing to buy a cat tree from Wayfair, it's quite another to spend, what I think is a lot of money for what I thought would be a nice piece of bedroom furniture. Originally, I was thinking of buying matching nightstands, but that is out of the question. This dresser is certainly usable, but not what I was hoping for.
Yikes. This is definitely throw away furniture. I bought 2 to set them side by side in my boys bedroom. I had planned to place the bearded dragons enclosure on top. That will not be happening. Let me start from the beginning…. My husband opened and assembled the first box. It was difficult because is was so cheaply produced. We were very skeptical about how this would turn out but we had the product, one was built, it didn’t feel like returning them was a great option. The boys original dresser was already gone. We just needed something for the clothes at this point. The dresser was built in the living room of a split level. All we had to do was carry it up 5 steps. Well it’s was so wobbly that I had to help carry it only to ensure the boards didn’t break and mind you we didn’t have the drawers in it. One decorative part fell off the bottom. So dresser in place, my husband went to open the second package. Surprise it was damaged in a way that prevented it from being built. So I email WayFair who responded by saying the that manufacturer would contact me within two days. That was Thursday. It is now Monday. I haven’t heard a thing. The one dresser we have is so pathetic that you can’t lean on it without it moving and I’m only 120 pounds. Obviously I’m not putting a glass enclosure on top because I’m pretty sure it would break the dresser. The open box of dresser parts is still sitting in my living room waiting for a response and resolution. This morning I went to the thrift store and picked up a $60 dresser that is ugly but at least sturdy and can get the clothes put away and the dragon off the floor. This whole situation was a complete flop and I don’t anticipate ordering from WayFair again.
My wife and I have been purchasing a handful of items from Wayfair in recent weeks as we get ready to welcome our first this fall, thankfully all without issue until this item. Although it IS easy to assemble, the ease unfortunately was met with a trade off in quality with many of the parts either being warped or so poorly manufactured that a simple manual screw-in on one of the draws splintered the dresser (…rectified with wood glue and a 90° brace). It’s true to size and fits what’s we need but the quality and lack of clarity in several steps of directions was disappointing and extremely underwhelming to say the least. Overall, I think that there’s other alternatives for the price that are high quality but also understand that our experience may not be representative of everyone’s parts.
I mean, what do you wan't for the price? It ain't gonna be fancy hardwood with a lacquer finish. That said, they could do a little better job packing these things for shipping. Lot's of light surface scratching from the black surfaces rubbing together. For what I needed, they work great and function as cheap Chinesium particle board clothing storage cabinets, should. I'd probably buy them again.
Not recommended!
My husband and I both have experience building these "throw away" furniture items because we have kids, and dogs, and furniture just doesn't seem to last. Why shop at the hi-end stores when we know that a typical piece of furniture has a short lifespan due to our family composition. We were both prepared to jump in, and build this 5 dresser chest for our one daughter who will be 20. The box was delivered on a rainy day. I saw the delivery person literally "throw" the box onto his handtruck, and then "dump" the box off where it hit the house, and then the ground! Even tho the box was badly damaged, I was determined to open it, and build this, even tho my husband warned me that the items is likely damaged. Well, let's stop blaming the delivery driver, let's stop blaming the fact that it was raining that day. This piece of furniture weighs 103 pounds! Its stuffed all into ONE BOX! Shame on the MANUFACTURER to do this! Two, maybe even three boxes would have been better planning. Now, after opening the box and viewing that the item has multiple dents and bruises; I have to try to stuff this all back INTO ONE BOX so that Fed X can come and pick it up? NOT! I will be returning this to my neighborhood WalMart, in multiple pieces, and let them deal with it. Again, SHAME on you, Mr. Manufacturer! Did you think that it would be easy for any normal person to lift this box, or drag it into their home after it was delivered? Not everyone owns a handtruck! I'm totally flabbergasted, and just cannot recommend it for this reason!
Junk - bought in 2021. Here's an update.
Easy to assemble but that's about it. Everything else was not worth the money. The first drawer doesnt close anymore & I don't have 20lbs worth of items on it; 32 inch tv+xbox. The bottom of the drawers are weak/ thin plywood pieces that pop out a few months after purchase. I had to hot gun glue the slabs back into the drawers last yr but even still it pops out. Not worth it at all. Complete waste of $200. I could've purchased an actual set for $300 and it would've lasted longer.
Delivery was excellent, 24 hour turn around but I also live one hour from their location. Product was easily assembled although it does take a bit of time when you are alone. Sturdy, good sized drawers and size of the chest overall. Product is just what I needed as an interim chest and is pretty robust for the material which is good on the manufacturer in creating a good product for the price and alsohappy my cash stays in Canada!
Good item with some concerns
Generally good. However, I received it with minor finishing issues. I contacted South Shore and I am waiting for their action.
Don’t waste your time or your money
Assembly required 2 people to hold up a couple pieces. I struggled to make each drawer fit in, after assembly, but I managed to figure it out by playing with them. Rolling them in and out is a struggle because none of the drawers want to stay in place on the rolling thingies. The whole thing is very unstable. I’m going to have to throw it away and buy another dresser. What a waste of money. Everything has completely came apart. Looking for clothes is the worst part of my day when I have to go through this dresser. Not to mention there’s saw dust that constantly falls on to the clothes and my clothes smells like saw dust even after I passed Clorox wipes through everything. The saw dust even stained some of my t shirts yellow. Looks, feels, and smells cheap. I should have listened to the bad reviews. DO NOT BUY.
Very poor product quality. I purchased it for my kid’s room, the drawer came apart in just one month. The MDF material crumbled into pieces, so could not even fix it. It also has a very toxic- PVC like smell that has not gone for over a month.
Drawers fall out
Gave it three stars because 3 of the 5 drawers do not fall out. Assembly was probably about normal time. Believe it was missing only 1 screw and the small piece was broken that I was able to fix. Unfortunately, on a daily basis two/three of the drawers fall off the railing and I will not let my child put clothes away since I know it will fall. After spending so much time to assemble how frustrating and disappointing to start all over
