My daughter loves to bake but would mix up all the goodies she made by hand, then she broke her hand and was complaining that she was not going to be able to bake for awhile. I mentioned that she could use a mixer but she said no because there wasn't one that would go with her kitchen color's I found this one and she loved it. Her hand is healed now but she loves her mixer and she is baking more than ever. She loves ❤️ her mixer.
Strong, lightweight, and beautiful metallic blue color! The four suction cups on the bottom of the mixer hold it securely to the countertop. The mixing bowl can hold two batches of cookie dough (4.5 dozen batches). And, iis less noisy than my blender. I haven't tried all the attachments yet, but they easily attach to the head of the mixer. I'm very happy with this purchase!
doesn't mix well
I purchased this product about 2 years ago and it worked well for a while. now, the paddle does not reach far enough down into the bowl so it just ends up spinning around and making a big hole in the middle of whatever you're trying to mix shoving it up against the walls and on the bottom. other stand mixers seem to have an adjustable height but this one does not I don't recommend it if you need a mixer that works.
Horrible product, returning immediately
I was so excited to get this. As soon as it came in, I tried to make chocolate chip cookies. While creaming(!), the stand mixer was walking across the counter. I tried pushing down a bit to make the suction cups engage, which really didn't make a difference. By the time we were adding flour, my husband had to hold it down to stop it from walking away. Also, the hole for the guard is awkward to use, so I ended up cleaning just as much flour (if not more) as I would when using a hand mixer.
I replaced this for one my daughter gave me for Christmas. Saddlery she passed away in May of 2018
Ive had this for over a month and really put it through the paces. Cake batter perfect, dough really good, meringue was amazingly easy. If you have a dense cookie dough it will bounce a bit. I just hold it by the handle on top to damp that down some. It is much lighter than other stand mixers - a good feature for my small kitchen. It is easy to lift out of the cabinet. It is much sturdier than those hand mixer in disguise kind though, it is a real stand mixer.
SPEED DIAL HAS RUB-OFF PAINT
Bought this mixer last summer and it’s beautiful and functional. I have had no problems with it EXCEPT ALL the numbers on the speed dial have disappeared. Now I don’t know what setting it’s on. Not good when a recipe calls for specific speeds. After use I always wipe mixer with water; no use of chemical cleaners. Maybe Hamilton Beach will put RAISED NUMBERS on the dial instead of PAINTED numbers.
A very pleasant surprise.
After giving away a $300 mixer because I didn't like it, I bought a few different stand mixers and compared them. This was the only one that passed my first test of whipping a single egg white into a meringue. (And one of the machines claimed to be 800 watts!) Unfortunately, it couldn't handle a large cookie mixture containing 5 1/2 cups of flour and a cup of sugar. But it was a very pleasant surprise. In asking friends which machine they thought would win out and be kept, no one said the Hamilton Beach. Too bad, because it is a good little machine. Just don't expect to make anything with more than about 4 cups of flour.
[Rewarded Review] Poorly Designed Bowl
I bought this mixer in 2018 so it’s about 4 years old. I use it periodically. Maybe several times a year to mix cake and breads using the paddle attachment only. So 30 to 35 times in 4 years. I love this mixer bc of the convenient carrying handle as I store mine in a cabinet. It’s heavy but not extremely heavy, great suction cups on bottom to prevent movement, and it lists which speed to use depending on what you are mixing. The things that I have not liked but we’re not a deal breaker is that the splash guard must be removed before lifting up the paddle or attachments bc the hole is not big enough otherwise. The video does not show this as an issue so maybe the splash guard has been redesigned since I bought mine. Next I would not put the attachment in the dishwasher as the coating comes off. I just noticed bare metal at the bottom of my mixing paddle. Yikes. I hope it didn’t leach into my cake mixes! I may have put this in the washing machine 2 times ever but I would normally wash by hand so not to damage. I do not have a basis of comparison so maybe this is normal wear and tear? It seems awfully fast for how often I used the paddle. So this needs replacement. So the reason I’m posting this review is bc I found a very poor design issue with the bowl. The bottom section traps water. It has always been a struggle to get the water out of the groves between the metal components and the black plastic portion. Well, it just completely rusted off a few days ago. No replacement in stock either and Christmas is approaching. This really disappoints me. I can’t really afford to buy a completely new mixer at this time for desert making.
Good Value for the money
Well packaged for shipping to you. Tilt mechanism is good. Noisy on high speed, but that is without anything in the mixing bowl. Comes with everything that is needed for mixing. Struggles with mixing bread dough using the dough hook in what would be a dry dough mixture of four cups of flour. I will split the batch to two cup and make two and join the dough after completing two small batches. The handle makes moving it to the counter top easy. I like that it can be used for all mixing requirement, other words, one machine to store, plus it doesn't take up the space that a bread machine would. The bowl is plenty large enough for all home uses that I think I will ever have. Components are dishwasher safe on top shelf (Wouldn't use extra dry cycle of D/W
This was my mistake for the year! May look like the expensive brand but lacks in performance. Eg. When mixing sugar and butter it pushes the the mixture up the sides where it stays. Throughout a recipe I have to stop, raise the mixer and hand blend what is on the sides back into the beater range. Extremely annoying. The piece of plastic on the outside bottom of the bowl stays attached to the bowl making cleaning an extra step. This is the plastic connection that keeps the bowl attached to the base. Every time the mixer is started it has a surge of energy and then backs up to the speed dialed. I’m so disappointed that I’m looking for an antique sunbeam that my mom used to use! I did not use this when I got it, so I think I am too late to return it now.
This is a good one!
I haven't used a stand mixer since I was a little girl. I thought about a Kitchenaid, but wasn't ready for the 300 to 400 dollar investment. This stand mixer caught my eye because of the handle, nostalgic style and price. I tried this on a batch of cookies and it did great. It wobbled slightly at first when it started mixing the stiff dough, but quickly smoothed out. The suction cups keep it stable on your counter. I love the fact that you are hands free and can grab other ingredients or clean up while you're mixing. As far as the beater getting to all the sides, I thought it did a great job. I did scrape them down once, but the mixer got mostly everything on its own. I have not tried the whisk or dough hook yet. I think this stand mixer is a great value. I always have good luck with Hamilton Beach products.
Best thing about this mixer is the color and the handle that let's you carry it with one hand. You have to scrape the sides several times to get everything mixed. The splash guard is pretty useless. The opening in it allows the flour to go all over.
Good at first but NOT SO MUCH!
First off I want to make it clear that I never give reviews but I felt it was necessary in this case. That being said- at first this mixer was great and worked very well but slowly it started to fall apart. I am a person that takes very good care of everything and after every use I would clean the mixer and make sure it was like new but even that didn't help the situation. First, the on/off switch would not work so I had to unlplug it every time I wanted to turn it off to check the ingredients being mixed. Secondly, once I got to a certain speed the attachment tools would come off and go into the bowl. Thirdly, the button that is pushed to lift up the head of the mixer one day just popped out and with it came an inner spring and that was it- completely FELL APART! I was so disappointed because even though it is not an expensive mixer I still had higher hopes. I still have it on my counter and have not used it for a while, now I don't know what to do. I'll have to purchase another mixer eventually because I really enjoy baking. Please again read this before purchasing because it is a true and honest review. Thanks!
Our family is new to baking, we just purchased this Hamilton Beach 7 Speed Stand Mixer and used for Christmas for our 1st cake mix and frosting from scratch. It is amazing! Easy to use, has 3 attachments included for mixing needs, a suction base to secure when bowl is mixing, and a splash proof guard that sits onto of the bowl included with an opening to pour ingredients into. For the nice quantity (black and stainless) and price- I feel it is going to be a great addition to our family with baking & cooking needs.
[Rewarded Review] Good for home use, and very lightweight
We have been giving our new Hamilton Beach Orbital mixer a pretty good workout with holiday backing. It is a very good value for the price. Definitely "light duty", no industrial strength, but fine for our home needs. I have a bread machine for my regular bread making. We do not have space to store a mixer on our counters, and we like that this isn't too heavy for my wife to lift and its height just fits a shelf in our pantry. The suction cup feet keep it from dancing away while using it, but I would supervise it during use. Toss away the dust deflector, it is awkward and unnecessary. The bowl is also nice and light and the mixer attachment works well with it. The handle is very useful if you bring it out of storage for usage. For a light duty mixer....an awesome deal.
This is the third mixer that I've bought from Amazon. The first, a Bodum stand mixer, worked great until it broke a few months later. The second, a two beater Sunbeam Heritage model has survived, but as much as I wanted to like it, I found that it just didn't mix well and required me to move the bowl manually and otherwise fiddle with it constantly. When I found myself reverting to using an ancient hand mixer, I knew it was time to replace the Sunbeam.Today, I spent the day putting the Hamilton Beach through its paces. First, I made a batch of fairly stiff bread dough, containing 5 cups of flour. This definitely was the upper limit of the mixers capacity, both in terms of volume and power. The motor overheated just as the dough was finished and I thought I had broken it as it stopped mixing. In the time it took me to wash up the dishes, the mixer recovered, however. I next made a half batch of reverse-creamed cup cakes. The mixer performed well and didn't require a lot of bowl scraping in spite of the small amount of batter. The same was true for the half batch of ermine frosting that I made in it. The last thing I made was a small batch (2 1/4 cups flour) of yeast rolls. I used the dough hook only rather than using the flat beater first, and the dough came together quickly with no problems.Bottom line: so far, so good. I'm not sure how long this mixer will last, but for the low price and the $8 four- year product protection that I bought for it, I'm not too worried. I wish it had a slightly larger capacity, but again, it was inexpensive. By the way, I have used a friend's Kitchen Aid on a number of occasions and I would say that, at this price point, the Hamilton Beach compares pretty favorably to it.
Perfect for a stand mixer novice like me
I waa hesitant to buy after reading the few bad reviews, but needed something on a tight budget. I really only needed something that could handle light duty for cake mix and frosting and KitchenAid is far too expensive. Ive only had it one day but am making a birthday cake this week for my mom so i used it today. A tad noisy but not obnoxiously so. Handled a box of cake mix just fine...ingredients mixed well on slow and medium speeds. Our hand mixers are heavy and tiring on the arm and do not have “slow†speeds at all which some recipes call for. If you follow the booklet’s suggestion and add your ingredients closer to the side of the bowl, the paddle grabs it just fine and mixes everything. (I even used it without the splash guard and everything stayed put). I did have to stop and scrape the sides once or twice but it isnt any extra effort like others have said. Only other issue was a bit of flour residue at the very bottom so you want to give a good scrape there too to make sure youre getting everything down there into yo ur mix. Im anxious to give homemade frosting a try again with this thing as just creaming butter with a hand mixer is a tiring process. So far im happy and feel like for a first time user its simple to learn and operate and does the job i need it to. The blue color also is very vibrant and pretty. All in all unless you need heavy duty equipment, id recommend this for those on a budget and light baking. Bowl is a decent size and the attachments are large, both are easy to attach/remove and easy to clean. Overall for a beginner i love my pretty new mixer!
Good Lightweight Mixer!
I used this mixer to make banana bread on 26AUG2019 and it performed pretty good for a medium end mixer. I noticed when I needed to cream the sugar and butter I had to put it on a higher speed. Once it creamed the sugar and butter, I had to lift the beater to scrape the bowl and add the eggs as the butter and sugar was stuck to the sides of the bowl. Even though there is a spout on the bowl cover, it really is easier to just lift the head of the mixer and add the ingredients. I like the interlock beaters and bowl. It is a great mixer for baking easy items like cookies, cakes, banana bread and anything that is not a heavy consistency. I like the suction cups on the bottom that hold the mixer in place. I wanted a lightweight mixer that could handle my smaller baking needs. The Hamilton Beach 7 Speed does the job with ease. I was a little disappointed that the mixer is made of plastic with little or no metal. I do like the Silver color. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give this mixer a 7.
Total Disappointment
After years of typing and computer work, my hands began to ache when kneading bread. I thought i had found a stand mixer that would do it for me. The price was right and it got decent reviews. Sadly, this was a real mistake. The “nonstick†dough hook was not “nonstick†. The “0†shape of the hook would not allow the dough to slip off and fold naturally. I tried making a thinner bread dough. The dough still got stuck on the hook, but now i had a puddle of water collecting beneath it.
