Good, solid design

Replaced a Grohe mixing valve that finally gave up the ghost. This was the mate to the trim lever and had little choice of the rough in, but this one is well made and solid. I like the positive, geared connection between this and the lever; the Grohe was friction and would loosen periodically, making temperature adjustments difficult until the handle was removed and reseated.

Needed a replacement part

Need a cartridge for this shower diverter. Had difficulty sourcing in the past. Removed cartridge worked like a champ.

I have a Kohler Habitat II from the 1980s (steam, sun, air, shower all in one). Haven't used much until wife had leg surgery and she could get into the Habitat easier than shower. Due to lack of use, temperature control was frozen in position and valve stem broke when I forced it. I called 3 plumbers, none of whom would do replacement of valve since they could not get the original Kohler valve. I found this valve which was very close to the Habitat valve size wise and replaced it myself. Easily accessible with plenty of room to work in utility area behind Habitat. I post this in case you are a Kohler Habitat owner, because there is a dearth of info available about a suitable replacement valve.
