Second purchase of this rug!

This is the second time I have bought this rug, as the people who bought our last house negotiated to include the rug! It looks way more expensive than it is, but it is prone to snags. I had to cut snags carefully with nail scissors every once in a while. The pattern and slight glitter adds great interest without adding busy color.

SAFAVIEH HANDMADE SOUTH HAMPTON RUG

This is my second time buying the same rug!!! I love it. I have it in my kitchen to protect my wood floor and it matches perfectly in my kitchen. Great quality and hides every bit of dust, dirt, etc... would recommend this rug to everyone.

I purchased this rug because I saw it at my sisters house, it's a durable high quality rug. Mine unfortunately cane with many rug pulls which is a bit disappointing but I hadn't noticed them until the rug was already laid out with furniture placed on top. I decided to keep it rather than hassle with a return and I will cut down the rug pulls and they won't be too noticeable. I added a picture to show one of the rug pulls.

Great Quality Rug

I purchased this runner rug for my kitchen floor. The floor was worn in many areas and this rug covered it perfectly. The pattern and the color are perfect and it made a big difference in my kitchen. I would definitely recommend this rug if you need an olive green pattern for your room. The picture on the website is exactly what you will receive. I am very happy with this rug.

I wanted to like this rug, but honestly, it is hard to look at! Does something crazy to my eyes. Otherwise decent quality and price. It was just not a home run for me for the space I intended to use in for. Should have looked for something a little more organic looking with a weave that was easier on the eyes.

We have now owned this rug for 6 or 7 years. It has held up fairly well considering we have had 2 kids since buying the rug. There are a couple spots where the material has snagged over the years. Overall, it's a durable rug but things happen and we have kids who drag their toys across the rug. When I first bought this rug, I thought it would show as mostly gray. But up close, you really do see the pattern in the rug, which is a nice touch. I've received so many compliments on this rug and expect to enjoy it for many more years. If the kids end up destroying the rug, I would purchase another as a replacement because we love the look that much.

It depends...

It is in a high traffic area with shoes and boots and, after over a year, is holding up very well. However, high heels catch in it and pull threads out. Not much of a problem for us as our clientele in high heels is extremely rare. This rug is not soft for the bear feet and I would not recommend it for a family room. Nice color that goes with everything.

Good, but wanted great!

I obsessed over this rug for a good year before I finally bought it. Not only were the colors perfect, but the size was ideal for my dining room space. While it looks nice in there, it's not quite what I expected. The rug is hard and stiff, not soft like one would expect but I can live with that since it's in a dining room. What I can't live with, and the most upsetting part is that the rug, shortly after purchasing, has pulls on it. It looks as if a cat used it as a scratching post - except I don't have one! By the time I noticed it was happening, it was too late to return it. I expected a higher quality than what I received.

Several Quality Issues

The rug is woven of black and white yarns which read very silvery from a distance, which was actually kind of nice. However, there were several areas of the weaving where the white yarns were lost and the result was heavy graphic black lines across the pattern. Even that would have been fine, but in the middle of the rug there was a huge knot, like the weaver had run out of yarns and knotted a new piece on. Sent it back.

Really like this rug

I have had this rug for a few years now and it has held up pretty well. It is a flat woven rug not a plush carpet but, despite that, it's not uncomfortable to sit or lay on. The color is a a medium gray and it has gold and black threads that form a diamond pattern. It sounds like an unusual color combination but the black and gold are subtle it really works. I love the diamond shaped pattern on the rug and the color overall . The one complaint I have is that, because it is a thin rug, it bunches at times by the couch legs or shifts over time from us getting on and off the the couches. I just reposition it when I vaccum and it is fine. I would recommend this rug and would buy it again.

Ms.

The rug is advertised as black but in fact is a deep dark blue. Also, the "metallic" threads are really not metallic but a fiber which is silvery/shiny. These are the least problems. The rug has irregularly woven pattern, which are weaving flaws and they are throughout the rug. In other words, this is a quality-control-reject rug but it is not described as "Second" or "with weaving flaws." This rug was listed for 77% off, so it is a cheap product for a cheap price. Very disappointing.

Love this!

This rug was perfect for my space. High quality. Color of the fibers blend to make a nice overall neutral look. One side of my kitchen has the safavieh hand woven marble grey sisal rug and this rug is on the other side and they coordinate beautifully. On my computer it looks darker almost black but the it's more the color of the border of the marble grey safavieh sisal rug trim because of the subtle differences in the fibers. Soft to walk on. Excellent quality. Better quality than rugs I have purchased for the popular home store and popular high dollar furniture barn. Very satisfied. Fast shipping and excellent customer service.

Dreadful

Its thin, its crooked on the edges, it gathers and wrinkles and there is no way to straighten it out. I have moved and removed furniture to smooth this bad boy out to no avail. It sits on top of carpet in LR too. I would NOT recommend this rug. nope. Also, its like mostly tan with weird silver strands running through it. Not gray at all. Just a terrible purchase on my part. I have kept it a while and now am dying to get rid of it.

Beautiful area rug

I was hesitant to purchase this rug after reading a couple of negative reviews. The rug was purchased for our dining room. It is grey in color with silver and black threading accents. The rug has an understated, elegant pattern to it. We purchased a felt rug pad to go underneath. The rug is beautiful and appears to be durable. It compliments our black dining room table set. It appears to be well made and have had any issues with it laying flat. Our cat loves the rungs, although I would not classify it as being soft but work just fine for our dining room.

Looks decent but very poor quality

I was looking for a grey/neutral rug for my dining room. First off, the picture isn't great online. The rug is actually a blue/grey diamond pattern with a black/white background thread. I thought it was going to be more brown/grey like in the picture. It's not. And it looks and feels like a cotton/blend rug. I thought it was going to look/feel more like a wood rug. I still decided to keep it because I couldn't find anything else. The killer is that the quality stinks. I've had the rug for three month - very little foot traffic (under my dining room table) - and the threads are now starting to break off and stick up...so I have all these random threads sticking up from my rug. Not what I expected from a nearly $300 rug. Do NOT recommend.

Ugliest Rug I have ever seen in my life!

I cannot believe the difference between the actual rug you get and the pictures that are on Overstock's site. Totally misrepresents the product! There is a lot of BLACK woven into the rug. The 'Ivory' metallic looks to me more of a beige or very dark ivory. There is nothing subtle about the woven-in metallics, and it's not even tastefully done. The weave is not at all tight, way too loose if you plan to walk on it. What a mess. I was taught to never use the word 'hate', but I really want to discribe that is how I feel about this thing that Overstock describes as a rug! It should have been described it as a thick sweater blanket!

Amazing Find

This is a high quality, unique rug that is made of cotton and polyester. It is very soft to walk on, and it is elegant yet not formal. It would work for a man or a woman. The rug's design is very pleasing, this is not a solid rug. It is grey, with a nice beige or taupe design through it that lightens it up, so it is not too dark. I have it on a very dark herringbone floor and it looks wonderful. The design works well with my light tan blinds and the grey is ideal for my natural steel bed and light blue duvet. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a rug that works with all of these colors. I was expecting a somewhat drab or somber grey, but it is better than that.

Not such good quality!

In the picture the thread detail looks as if it is a silver/gray color when it is not. It is actually off-white thread and black thread combined which from far away gives the appearance of a gray/silver color. I placed the rug in my living room vacuumed it twice and all the thread from the thread detail started coming out. At first I thought it was normal because the rug was new so I got scissors and trimmed the excess thread but a few days later I vacuumed again and the same thing happen. Looking at the rug from an angle you can see all the threads. I decided not to trim the threads anymore and return it. I do not have any pets and the rug was already being damaged from just the vacuum I cant imagine in 6 months. Called overstock and explained my problem and the customer service was excellent.

Below expectations - Color, Durability and Feel

Well... I had high hopes, but I'm not crazy about this rug unfortunately. A few things: 1) The color - it is darker and more of a blue-gray than pictured. Unfortunately my sofa is also blue so it gives the room an overwhelmingly blue tint. I don't care about the metallics, but be aware that these are VERY subtle. Like more or a pearlescent sheen to a small percentage of the white/light fibers. Don't expect sparkles or an actual metallic look at all. 2) Durability - if you have pets, it snags fairly easily on claws as another reviewer noted. The snags don't stand out very much so this isn't an overwhelming issue but something to be aware of. Also, if you spill anything on the rug, it is very difficult to clean. We spilled some green tea, and tried to clean it up right away, but the stain is still there. I guess maybe because of the tight cord style of the fibers it's hard to get it out? Despite the darker color and more natural shades, stains are very visible, which is disappointing as I tend to slosh my tea and specifically thought this would hide spots well. Not so. At all. 3) The feel - the rug definitely has more of an indoor-outdoor rug feel as it has no pile and the fibers themselves are not particularly soft. I'm not shocked at this exactly, but after all of the raves of quality from other reviewers, I had hoped to be pleasantly surprised. It seems fairly nice, but nothing exceptional. We added a memory foam pad under and it seems OK, but without it was quite hard. I would say maybe better for an entryway or high-use space, but with the snagging and stain-prone nature, I'm not sure I'd recommend that either. Overall, I would have returned this if I didn't think it would have been a huge hassle. Luckily, I got a pretty good price with a sale and a coupon, but I'll keep looking for a new rug for my space and live, in the meantime, with my blue-gray, dark, stained, snagged and hard rug.
