Poor Craftmanship

The rain saver barrel design was just what I wanted , but the spigot in the front would not screw in properly. Instead of returning it, I purchased plumber's putty and have hopefully repaired the problem. Amazon delivery was great, arriving 2 days earlier than expected.

Leaks

Didn’t realize until it was too late but the thing will not hold water at all. It took a while to find it but there’s several cracks in the seams at the bottom. A huge waste of money because I can’t physically return this thing even if they would accept it.

Does what it is built to do

Some of the reviews here had me wondering if I should buy this product, I did. No issues that others have had with bulging, dripping, etc - always makes me wonder if people that write these reviews have ever changed their air conditioner filters or changed a light bulb. I leveled the unit - left to right and leveled the back to be higher than the front so that if the water overflowed (as designed, when full) it would spill further from the base and not siphon back under the base. I put cement blocks under the unit to support the weight and then poured gravel all around to discourage bugs, snakes, etc from making a home there. My A/C unit puts out about 10 gal of condensate water per day (I measured it) so I had a very muddy spot in the yard before adding this. Now plenty of water for my potted plants

Inadequate response

This water “ barrel” was not manufactured correctly. Screw holes mal-aligned. I contacted the company for a partial refund, but was told I would have to return it through Amazon. That would be a waste, and also not easy to do with this large of an item. I’m able to make it work using duct tape to correct the gaps. Also in one day, the price of this item dropped. I requested the differential be refunded as well as a partial refund due to this, not being high-quality due to an error. Apparently that is not possible because it is through Amazon. It is for this reason I give it only one star.

It’s about what you’d expect. It looks ok and does what it’s supposed to. The issues are: when installing the hose bibs, you need to be very careful as it’s easy to cross thread them. And the long front and back bulge if a lot of water is in it. There is also very limited space to install a hose on the front which can be a problem if your hose has any protection near the connector.

Nicer looking than a round barrel but doesn't hold as much

I like the look of this better than a tall round barrel and being able to plant in the top is a nice feature. The first heavy rain we had filled it tho and I had to empty some of it with the bottom hose nozzle into the garden, but since then it hasn't rained as heavily and its has been nice being able to fill my watering can with the side spout. On the whole, I am very pleased with it. Its attractive and suits my garden well

Works great but bulges out on sides if full

Works great and we love having the flowers up top. However you must check it every time it rains as the sides bulge out when even half full….

Overpriced now and not holding up- see pic

Beer bellied now that it’s full. Regardless was considering purchasing again until the huge price increase- I’m still looking!

The picture is deceiving

Under that black mesh is a very big round hole that normal bulkhead hardware won't fit. While I got a kit that'll work, it won't have a seal. Searching for the right fit proves challenging.

Not what is expected

as soon as it got some water it started leaking and not from the lower faucet but, from the silicone around the faucet. What a disappointment! The container was already installed.

Purchased this rain barrel due to the shape.

Great little barrel

Great little rain catcher. The two threaded joints for the spigots could’ve been better quality. I had to epoxy both spigots in place to prevent leaks or I’d give it five stars. However, its small footprint makes it great for under windows.

No overflow holes

This product does not have overflow holes. Therefore I cannot connect it from the back to other rain barrels. Very disappointing!
