Sjoberg Bench

Excellent quality and easy to assemble!

Sjoberg makes great workbenches: durable and solid. The Home Depot website is, however, inaccurate. The workbench shown is the 1425, which is shorter (53”). What is provided is Model 1825, 73” long.

Great product, poor shipping

Received this bench today, assembled it and now ready for use. While the instructions were minimal and could be much better.,assembly was intuitive and all pre-drilled holes were very accurate making assembly go quickly. The bench is heavy and stable, my hold fasts clamp tightly in the dog holes, vices work well. Cabinet drawers and doors aren't fine furniture quality but are functional and should last in normal use. The bench top is very close to dead flat. The only downside about the purchase was the shipping. The bench arrived a week late due to some missed pickup at the drop ship site. When the bench arrived, the box had visible damage. Trying to slide the box of a pallet, the driver and I found nail sticking up an inch and a half on the pallet had pierced the box and torn the box up. By luck, the nail poked through into a hollow area where the bottom of the bench top was and didn't damage anything. On one edge of the box the bench top was exposed and there was visible gouging of the wood. Fortunately, it was on the bottom where it would not be seen. The steel hub of the end vice had also broken through the end of the box but there was no damage. Better packaging by Sjolberg could prevent possible damage from normal handling. Attention by the shipper would help prevent damage like nails poking into the product. Great bench, glad it survived the shipping.

Would help if it all actually came

Box was ripped open on the end so only the top and legs arrived. Took 3 weeks for them to finally ship the missing pieces. Haven't even arrived yet. We will see if it all makes it.

First class bench

Well made with lots of attention to detail. Not much for written instructions but then it's a bench so if one has any mechanical ability assembly is relatively easy.

Missing parts

Assembly on this workbench required multiple bits. Three parts were missing entirely. I was disappointed in the quality. For what I paid, I expected more.

Exceeded my expectations, and I was expecting a lot. I don't think I could possibly be happier with my new workbench. It is solid as a rock and beautiful. Picked it up through Home Depot curbside. The main workbench was in one box, the cabinet was in another box and the accessory kit was in a third box. Everything was strapped to a pallet and wrapped securely. With the use of a dolly I was able to unload the workbench by myself and bring it into my home. I'm short, fat and not much muscle. I took my time assembling it and it took me about five hours. It probably took me longer than it would most people, but I am a perfectionist and I wanted the cabinet doors absolutely perfect and everything else to be 100% correct. I took my time and looked over the instructions carefully. I was concerned if I would be able to lift the heavy top and set it on top of the base, but I did. I have wanted one of these all my life. I no longer have a shop and have missed woodworking so much. I decided that I could do old-school woodworking in my home. This type of workbench is a tool that makes all the other non-electric woodworking tools possible. This workbench is so beautiful it looks great inside the home.

I've been wanting one of these for decades. Wish I'd gotten it sooner but it was worth the weight. Most everything I do in my shop now, starts or ends up on this bench.

I LOVE IT. Assembly was easy and the quality is evident with the following exceptions....The drawer hardware seemed chincy and the bottom drawer is really no deeper than the top two........it's just the front that is larger.

While I give the overall quality and appearance of this bench 5 stars I did need to contact the manufacturer bc the doors are1/4” too wide and don’t close flush. They believe the wood swelled. I don’t believe that to be the case. Everything else went together perfectly. The bench is beautiful otherwise. Heirloom quality.

My thoughts

I was very satisfied with the overall quality and ease of assembly. I was disappointed with the small size, which is my own fault for not scrutinizing the dimensions further before purchasing. It is really a "hobby" size workbench. Needed something larger for my uses. Again, everything else was excellent! I would recommend

Just got an email about the big sale on Sjobergs workbenches. Opened the email and went straight to the item advertised to find that you are out of stock and that it is unavailable for purchase. This is just a suggestion, but I recommend that the next time you go tot the trouble to send sale notifications to your customers that you check to make sure that you actually have the stuff you're advertising.

I ordered this work bench from Home Depot and the delivery to the store for pick-up was smooth and fast. If you have a SUV with the possibility to fold down the back seat, you can easily drive it home yourself. The assembly was very easy. Make sure you single out four screws that is meant for the last step in the assembly. I used three of them on the drawer assembly and had to go back and find those smaller screw. Besides that, the assembly is very easy and fast. This is a wonderful, sturdy bench and I can highly recommend this bench if you plan to do some wood work. It is not too big and has a feel of a professional bench that would last you a lifetime. I got this bench because I do not have too much space, and the review online for great. It is going to be the bench I am using for violin building and other wood work I plan to do. I can highly recommend this bench and my shopping experience with Home Depot was free of any trouble.
