First time bathroom decorator

This package is very sleek and looks fantastic. Plumber was quick to install it. But there's one thing that I didn't foresee... because of the ribbon of water that flows from the faucet, it splashed all over the vanity and mirrors. And I've tried different forces. Does it every time. I'm now keeping paper towel at the sink.

The product was good the customer service terrible

worked with dedicated trade specialist who forgot to include faucet and slide bar. Said he would overnight slide bar and did not. Totally NOT a โ€œspecialistโ€

I Agree With The Reviewer Who Says "Just Don't Use It"

I have five of the Newport Brass Secant Faucets in my home. I have two lavatory widespread faucets and a roman tub set in chrome, a lavatory faucet in polished gold, and one in polished nickel. These were all installed in a remodel completed five years ago, so I can speak to the longer-term performance of the faucets. They are beautiful, and appear to be well-made. However, we have hard water, and within a year or so, I noticed that around the spout outlet, there is corrosion. It has become worse over time, and now on all the faucets, the first 1/8" inch or so at the outlet has a damaged finish. There seems to be no way to stop this. I note on their website that they recommend wiping the faucet down after each use. While this is something I have never had to do with other faucets, and which IMO should not be necessary, I am a fairly meticulous person, and usually wipe the faucets in my bathroom down if they are wet after using-though I believe that even after wiping, some water remains inside the spout and this perhaps causes the corrosion. If you have hard water, you might have to wipe-down after each use with these faucets--but even with frequent wiping-down, my faucets all have corroded around the spout outlet. The faucets in my powder room, which guests do not wipe down after using, have deteriorated in an amount similar to those in my master bath, which I generally wipe down after using if they are wet on the outside after use.I "splurged" on these beautiful faucets for my master bathroom and guest baths, however in my children's bathrooms, I purchased similar-looking Grohe faucets (which are the same "ribbon spout" style) in chrome. In the kids bathrooms, which have heavy use and no wiping-down with every use, the Grohe faucets have no corrosion or issues with the finish--and now the kids faucets, which were much less expensive, look better than my powder room, master, and guest-bath faucets. The Secant is beautiful to start with, but not so great-looking after a few years of use.I have one powder bath that is infrequently used in my home. The Secant lavatory faucet in there became clogged. The plumber said he would have to break out the plastic diverter inside the spout to clear it, as it is permanently affixed and does not come out easily to be cleaned as in other faucets. I called Newport Brass, and they told me the diverter was below the spout in the water lines. We checked there, but that diverter was clear, and it is the spout that is clogged. I suspect that the interior of the spout corroded to the point of clogging since the diverter at the water lines is unobscured. Since the plastic diverter in the spout is not removeable, nor is it available as a replacement part, an entire spout assembly replacement is the only way to repair it. The spout-only costs nearly $600 in polished nickel. After having spent around $5,000 on my five Secant faucets, which are five years old and all are no longer beautiful because of the corrosion at the spout outlets on all of them, and one has lost functionality and requires a $600 repair cost (excluding plumber fee to install), I am not happy, and would not recommend these faucets. They are beautiful but impractical, and the beauty does not last. For the price, one should expect practicality, lasting beauty and durability. Sadly, this has not been the case in my experience with these faucets.I likely will replace with another brand due to the issues. I will say that someone who does not have hard water might not have the issues I have had with the finish deteriorating, however, the manufacturer's notice in their "care and use" instructions to wipe the faucet down after every use makes me think that this is not an uncommon problem with these faucets. Evidently, Newport Brass could benefit from whatever technology Grohe employs in manufacturing their faucets, because the Grohe faucets I purchased (at substantially lower cost) and had installed at the same time, which have had just as much use, and far less maintenance and polishing, have no issues whatsoever with the finishes--and no clogging issues.ย Less
