This is really an expensive looking desk

Product went together perfectly for my husband who is pretty handy. I would not have been able to do this. Desk is very heavy. We had to take the box apart to carry pieces downstairs. It says almost everywhere that Sauder can not be painted. I Did not like the color of the Vintage Oak. It did not look like the picture. I put 2 and three coats of Chalk Paint in Blue Lake and am really happy with the results. My only complaint- I will never be able to slide this desk on a floor without scratching. The bottom boards are all unfinished and would definitely scratch a floor. Other than my own personal color choice and unfinished bottom, I would say this is a really expensive looking desk and will last for years.

Cheap and nasty. Timbers are scratched and bowing because of the cheap timber veneered chipboard. It's Incredibly difficult to assemble. It won't last 2 years.

Great Purchase!

Purchased this desk and in 4 days it was delivered. It is a very heavy desk and needs 2 to place it together. It took us 8 hours, but reading the directions twice to make sure we understood was worth it by far. Some of the number markings are hard to find, but if you have plenty of sun light you will be able to see the ones on light wood pieces. Now that it is all finished, I love this desk!!!! I highly recommend this desk. It will last a long time.

Looked Great but that's it...

I got this desk in May of 2020. It took me a good week to put together but unfortunately the parts weren't properly manufactured so the alignment of the drawers were all off. I took it apart and tried again but same result. I then contacted Sauder who asked me to take pictures and provide which more then proved the manufacturing issue. Their response was to take it apart AGAIN! Sure enough I did except for this time, I had a professional contractor put it together this time. Same result!! Sauder then came back asking me to take it apart again!! At this point I realized they weren't going to resolve the issue and I was just stuck with an expensive faulty desk. This past April, the desk was being moved and because of the faulty manufacturing and alignment issues, the entire desk fell apart in the movers hands. This is unacceptable and too expensive to have such issues without customer service that will resolve. Complete waste of my hard earned money and time!!

You get what you pay for!!

You get what you pay for is the point of this experience. The desk is very pretty but the materials are cheap. The veneer is easily scratched and I have already spent too much time trying to color in the scratches and dings caused from putting this thing together. The drawer assembly is easy but extremely in accurate. The slides have adjustable holes you screw into and therefore you don't know where exactly to attach them. The top drawer would not go into the slides and the particle board broke while I was attempting to do it. I had to call and have the parts sent to me again. However I still don't believe the drawer will fit properly. The instructions are to tilt up as you slide the drawer in. However you can't tilt it up because it's a tiny top drawer with no room to tilt. Spend more and you'll definitely get a better product!!

I would highly discourage anyone from purchasing this product. I have been putting together furniture for 20 years and I have never had so much trouble as I did with this one! I am SHOCKED that Home Depot carries this particular item - it's certainly not up to Home Depot standards! To begin, many of the parts are not labeled and all of the 25 different types of screws, cams, etc come in a single bag. It takes a lot of unnecessary time to separate them all out but it is critical to do so because they end up giving you too many of one type and not enough of another. Then, only about half of the guide holes for screws are actually there. The rest, you have to measure, square, and figure it out. Finally, after a few hours of trying to put this together, you get to page 18 and they have a little comment; "Don't worry. It isn't Rome. This can be built in a day." What is that, sarcasm?! Anyway, while this desk looks pretty in the picture, it is definitely not worth your time or money! I will NEVER buy another Sauder product again!! And, Home Depot, if you're reading this, please save your valued customers the trouble and consider dropping this item from your inventory. :)
