Not quite what I hoped for.

I really liked my Keurig, but I hate the stuff I'm sending to the landfill. I bought the DGB-2 to get a good single cup without the plastic waste. The documentation says that the grind is medium and defends that choice. I believe it is way too course for this brewer. All of my comparisons are with Peet's House Blend Decaf and Peet's House Blend Regular. First I tried one of my left over Decaf K cups. It was great. Maybe even better than my Keurig. Then, by accident I got the coffee from Peet's already ground. That was really good, but not quite up to the K cup. Finally I got the whole bean coffee, ground it in the machine and it was disappointing. Not terrible, but not as good. The grind was very course. The pre-ground was much finer, and the K cup was the finest. In my opinion, the finer the grind, the better the coffee, in this machine. My wish would be that the grinder was adjustable for fine, medium and course.

Fresh ground coffee made easy

As someone who loves coffee, but only drinks 2 cups in the morning, the concept of being able to grind and brew one cup at a time really appealed to me. This coffee maker does exactly what I wanted and is easy to use. It grinds the exact amount of coffee needed for one cup and is easy to clean. It can also be used with K cups, but I really prefer the grind and brew process. I highly recommend this for anyone who likes fresh ground coffee.

[Rewarded Review] Kudos to the Cuisinart Genius who Invented this!

A Cuisinart burr grind and brew coffeemaker user for years, had to move to a K-cup coffeemaker because my tummy could no longer handle 5-6 cups of coffee per day.

Love the grind and brew combo!

So far, I've enjoyed my grind and brew coffeemaker. I love how it's automatic, so I don't have to worry if I'm using the right amount of beans. And the filter for the water reservoir really helps give me a clean taste in my coffee. I'm very happy with my purchase! As for the grinds spilling after, I try to lightly tap the bean hopper to get any loose grounds into the filter cup, but even when it does spill it's not that much. Otherwise, it's a really great product!

Disappointing Machine

Had high hopes for the cuisinart grind and brew machine since I owned a cuisinart brew only machine that was great. This machine throws coffee grinds on the counter top when grinding, coffee has sludge in the bottom of the cup and the lid of the plastic coffee grounds holder broke within the 1st month. I wish I would not have wasted $150 on this and put my money toward a better quality machine. I will replace this with something of better quality and consider my loss a life lesson.

Happy with this decision..

This is my first espresso machine. Its a beginner one, of course, but it works well.

Not worth the money

Great idea, not great in real life. Grinds get everywhere and the coffee maker drips, leaks, and sprays coffee everywhere. Within the first few uses the machine looked like it had been through months of heavy use with coffee build up inside and out. Would be tolerable if it at least produced a great cup of coffee, but the coffee is just ok and there's a sludge that settles into the bottom of each cup. Tried pods, tried filters, tried different beans, nothing helped.

[Rewarded Review] Messy Machine On Your Countertop

I wanted to like this machine, but you can't control the amount of coffee it grinds. So I am dumping some of the ground coffee each time I'm using the reusable capsule, or I'm adding additional water to the cup and having to microwave it to warm it back up after the brewing is over.

Tastes great but with a caveat

I like having fresh ground coffee to use instead of purchasing pods. It's more economical, more environmentally friendly & tastes better. The only downside to this machine is it can get a little messy. After grinding, when removing the cup to move to the brewer, there's always ground coffee that spills over. Maybe the amount of beans that this brewer grinds should be adjusted? But, we will put up with this because of the other features that we like.

Happy with my purchase!

I wanted a single serve coffee maker that could grind coffee too and the Grind and Brew Cuisinart does that well. The coffee tastes much better than what I used to make with my old coffee maker. I like how convenient it is to fill the filter with coffee thanks to the scoop that’s included. The filter is also easy to clean. The grinder is not as noisy as I expected by reading some of the reviews and I love that it grinds just enough coffee to fill the filter and stops automatically. Overall I’m very satisfied with my purchase.

Leaky bottom

For some reason when a person goes to add water the bottom of the machine will leak out quite a bit of water. I've not figure out why and it's quite annoying. Looking underneath it appears to being a hole for a screw that it leaks out of. But short of taking it apart completely and looking at it. I'm not sure how to find the problem. It's definitely not been a small leak either. Usually the entire length and width of the machine.

Was hopeful

Biggest mess of a coffee maker I’ve ever owned! I was so hopeful some of the other reviews were wrong. It gets coffee grinds all over and don’t even bother trying to use a kcup the mess is even worse! Contacted customer support and that was a waste of time. Blamed the kcups for having to much air inside, thought maybeI lived in a high altitude area, needed to clean my 8 day old coffee maker..list goes on and on. It couldn’t possibly be a crap machine! This will be returned

[Rewarded Review] Exceptional

After using this coffee maker and grinder for approximately two months now, I am now leaving my review. The ease of using my own coffee or Keurig cake cups is great. I find that I get a better tasting cup of coffee from grinding my own beans. The only negative that I have on the grinder is that if while you are grinding your beans, if you don’t keep tapping up on the coffee bean basket while it’s grinding coffee to compress the beans when you pull the basket out, it does push some of the ground beans out onto the catcher. So my recommendation is to keep all of the ground coffee beans in the little basket when you pull it out while the grinder is grinding the beans keep tapping up on the basket and when you pull it out, the coffee is in the basket and not falling out when you pull the basket out.

My favorite coffee maker!

I’ve had this coffee maker on my counter for several weeks and use it joyfully multiple times a day. It’s easy, compact, clean, and quiet. I love having the option for freshly ground coffee (which is the majority use), pre-ground coffee, and pods. I am the sole coffee drinker in my family and wanted something that didn’t take up much space, where I could have a fresh cup whenever desired. This machine fits the bill. If I had to make a complaint, it would be the lack of fun color options. If they ever come up with a soft green version, I’m getting it!

Looks don't match performance. Save your money!

Love the asthetics of this machine & compact design! However, this poor things makes more of a mess than it does coffee.

Coffee grinds everywhere.

This machine just doesn't work! It left coffee grinds everywhere- in the coffee, in the area where the water pours out, around the rim and outside the rim of the cup containing the grinds. It was just a big mess. Returned it. Don't recommend it. Salesperson thought that this was just a fluke and hasn't had this occur before. But I'm looking at something different. If it did work seems that this would be a great device.

Kind of Messy

Overall I like the way my coffee tastes from fresh ground beans. The machine is definitely meant for one person. The grinder fills the cup too full and spills coffee out and I have to knock out some to get the lid to close. So definitely clean up required after each cup. Also only comes with one set for grinding coffee so if there is two folks wanting coffee it requires cleaning up from one to make another cup. Just use K Cups if there are several folks waiting on coffee.

Great unit for minimal waste & a great cup of Joe!

I had always wanted a new burr grinder to optimize my at-home coffee experience, and minimizing coffee waste was a priority too. This unit allowed us to check off both boxes, and with flair to boot. It's a beautiful unit on the counter top. It allows us the flexibility to try friend's kuerig-style "K cups" on a whim. We also found that the burr-ground coffee made our cups of coffee taste less acidic as they're ground more evenly for the brew process. And to top it off, there's NO waste; we just make a cup or two as needed in the morning. No more throwing away a half pot of unused coffee daily. All in all, it was a solid upgrade from our 12-cup drip unit, and decluttered our counter in the process. Win win!

I did and I regret it.

I was excited about this machine as it offers a one cup, fresh ground coffee option. I made the investment and was excited to try it out. I brought it home, unpacked it and gave it a try. There are three brew options- 8 oz, 10 oz and 12 oz. I went for the 12 oz. Took my first sip and it was watery. I thought maybe I had done something wrong so I attempted again. Once more, the coffee was watery. Instead of wasting more fresh ground coffe, I used my meauring cup to see how much water was being used for the 12 oz cup. To my surprise, the machine dispensed 16 oz for the 12 oz. I tried the 10 oz option and 12 oz was dispensed. The 8 oz option dispensed 9 oz. in addition, the grinder does a good job but it leaves a mess behind. If you choose to use a store bought pod be prepared to clean up a blow out. I would not recommend this coffee brewer to anyone I know.

[Rewarded Review] Brews quickly and the water is hot

I have enjoyed using this coffee maker. It brews quickly and the water is hotter than the previous Cuisinart model that I had which was the SS-10. I haven't had any issues with the coffee maker at this point. I only have 2 complaints. My first complaint is that the water tank is too small. I'm finding that I keep having to fill up the tank, and it is harder to access because it is in the back of the machine and can be harder to pull out if it is stored under a cabinet. My second complaint is that I cannot fit tall insulated metal cups under the area where the brewed coffee is coming out. When I place a mug underneath it all fits fine. The fact that it doesn't fit my larger cups is not a problem with the machine per se, but I didn't pay attention to that when I was purchasing the new machine.
