The electricians I hired to put in the new ceiling mounted motion detector were unable to get it to work (turn off the light) after multiple attempts. They followed the directions meticulously. I returned it to Home Depot with no problem which was a relief. They purchased different model for me and were successful. Not sure what the problem was. They were reputable electricians. Could have been a one off.

I have wired many things over my lifetime and the wiring diagram sucks. It didn’t make sense to wire it the way it showed so I finally did and it blew up the sensor. Not good.

Great Product for Reducing Unnecessary Energy Usage

I've installed 10 of these sensor switches at my church. They work great and save a significant amount of electrical energy usage.

Sensors are aesthetically pleasing but functionally they need improvement.

Faulty sensors

Bought two of the dual mode sensors and one just PIR sensor. The PIR sensor didn't work. The lights turned on once stayed on for ten minutes like it said it would, then went off and wouldn't come back on. Their tech support was nice and we troubleshot for a while. They said it was a bad sensor and to return it. So, I swapped in the dual mode sensor. Same spot same wiring. The lights came on but wouldn't go off. Even after setting the occupancy time delay to 30sec, turning off the sonic sensor and setting min operation time to 0. I left the room, came back 20 min later and still on. I'm returning these. I'll try the Leviton ones, I guess you get what you pay for.

It's a good motion sensor. I'm pleased with it. I installed it in my garage. No more walking into a dark garage when coming from work at night! I set it to 2.5 minute delay. The instructions are bit confusing. It had a 10 minute delay by default, meaning, once it's turned on, it will have to complete 10 minutes before getting turned on again. I turned this feature off. It took me a while to figure this out because of confusing instructions.

Worked exactly as advertised in terms of range amd sensitivity. Bought two and wired in parallel per the instructions for control of 4 100w equivalent led bulbs in an attic. Programming is very easy and straightforward per the instructions. Only reason I did not give 5 stars is that they do not fit a 3.5 inch octagon box as stated in the instructions. So I am stuck with 2 of these oddball boxes that I bought online elsewhere. The sensors I received fit a 4 inch round ceiling box perfectly. See the photo.

Sensor light switch

No this product did not work well at all. Poor build quality, doesn't cover standard 4" round box, never shut light off. It was supposed to be made by Lithonia which is an established brand but I saw no indication that it was manufactured by them. I bought a Leviton brand at local electric supply store and it works fine

The first one worked for 15 min until I changed the light bulb. I called tech support, and after doing some trouble shooting, they told me to exchange it. I had bought 2 so I tried the 2nd one. It did not work from the start. I even tried putting in the old light bulb to see if that effected it. I ended up returning both. Good Luck on whoever tries these.

I installed this in my closet to replace another purchase from amazon: "cheapie occupancy detector" for $16. The old saying...you get what you paid for applies to that stupid purchase. Anyway...This Lithonia sensor was easy to install and the instructions for connecting and programming the sensor were very clear and understandable. The green led inside the sensor is a little hard to see (it was faint with the amount of lighting reflecting throughout the closet, had to move my viewing location to see it, but once I did, I could count the green flashes easily. The sensor picks up movement quickly and the timer is spot on (I set mine to shut off after 5 minutes of inactivity). Price is a little high for this and other occupancy sensors, but not having to deal with turning the closet light on and off is priceless!

I have a habit of forgetting to turn off the garage lights after working on projects. This ceiling mount works great whether I reminder to turn the off or forget to turn the lights off. When power is removed from the unit when the light switch is turned off, the sensor defaults to an ON state when power is returned. Excellent for this application. Sensor works with LED shop lights. My installation was easily since I had added additional outlets for the shop lights to be plugged into. I placed the sensor in the original light outlet box which is easily monitors the whole garage.

Working as described

10' ceiling about 6' away from entry door. Comes on quickly and stays on as long as there is motion. Have timed at 5 mins and seems to be working correctly. Low profile and clean look. I installed a 4" ceiling box and Sheetrock guy did good job cutting hole tight to box. If the hole was 4 1/4" there would have been an issue because unit would not cover. So either install a small box or make sure Sheetrock is tight to the box.
