This plug has extended the life of a window air conditioner whose electronics failed and the part for repair is no longer available. I thought I was going to have to throw away the window unit, which has a compressor that works fine. Now the Wexstar controls the on/off cycle. The Wexstar also saves electricity when using air conditioners that run continuously by shutting off unit when it reaches set temperature. I initially could not determine if the Wexstar was working. The first time it shut off the appliance I thought something was broken because a red light was on and nothing was running. The easiest way to use it is to crank up the thermostat above the appliance temperature until the appliance shuts off. Then adjust as needed. Voila.

Saving us money, while being safe. Very accurate and is working perfectly.

The product is fairly accurate for the temperature it is set for. But, had to reset temperature setting after one week to get it to work. Since resetting it, it now is working fine.

This is an excellent product. It is the only way to get a portable air conditioner to shut off at a given temperature. I hung it on the wall half way up the wall so the sensor would read the temperature at my height rather than at the floor.

You will need an extension cord to use this effectively. The reason is that you have to get the heater away from the temperature sensor.

Used this item to control a heat lamp in our dog house for winter warmth... Works great !!

The highest temperature setting is 80 degrees F

The highest temperature setting is only 80 degrees F. I am using this thermostat to control the temperature of a turtle vavarium which needs to be between 82 to 86 degrees F.

It works. A bit bulky - hogs whole plug. Works well enough and only way to adjust heat level of the Wexstar panel heater...

Expensive and not accurate

Bought three of these for my three Wexstar panel. They do work fine, but the temp dial doesn’t seem to be accurate. Could be the fact I have a vintage 1962 mobile home and it’s poorly insulated and drafty. I just made my own marks on them for the temp settings. I have a digital thermometer and simply marked them at 65 degrees for use and 55 degrees over night. The panels are awesome though and I’m saving close to 50% on my energy costs so not really a bad review of the thermostats you just have to see how they work in a modern home. Mine may be an anomaly for the age of the place. Kinda pricy tho. Overall I’m happy with them and would buy again.

To get this thermostat to work with my portable a/c unit(lg in my case) i had to coordinate the wexstar thermostat temperature with the temperature you set on your portable a/c. meaning.....i set the a/c unit to 72 and set the wexstar to 72 and it got around antarctic cold in my room but wouldn’t shut off, so i set the wexstar to 75-77 and within 5 minutes it shut off and 5-7 minutes later cut back on. so, from that point on it has worked great as it should going on and off with no issues keeping my room cold. you just have to get the two temperatures set right and you’ll be good to go.
