Poor experience with service and weber as a whole
Very disappointed, I noticed the actual grill box was damaged. It looked like it had warped. I brought pictures into the store we purchased it from and was told they had never seen anything like it. I have had Weber Grills for years and customer service told us we had a high heat event. The grill would have had to have been on Fire for an extended period of time to warp the Cast Iron. In order to get the drip pan out I had to bend it because the fire box was warped. I also had to bend in the back panel. The display also was not working. With all of the problems and money we spent I would have figured we would get a replacement. The grill was just a year old. After some back and fourth we were told that Weber would replace the box and the display and drip pan. We now have to take the grill apart and put it back together. We are very disappointed. It would have been great to get a credit for the grill and then purchase another weber. I even was willing to purchase a lower model and return the one that was defective.
Perfect grill for family and entertaining
We had a three burner Genesis for six years and loved it. It juat wasn't big enough. So i talked my wife into giving my son the old grill and buying this 5 burner. We've used it 6 times and I love it. It's so big and easy to use. The folding warming rack is really nice to use. The Weber grill app is amazing. It's connected by Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It tells me the grill and food temps. It's very easy to set up and use. I used the sear side and put a nice crust on our steaks. The stainless steel is good looking and the storage is really nice. I love how it's so easy to clean. The grease pan slides out with the drip pan like a drawer. I love this grill.
Love the grill!
Excellent grill and what an upgrade from my previous setup. I’ve now been able to control my heat how I want and have produced great burgers, steaks, and chicken breast. Unfortunately some things are a little clunky. The grill is powered in order to run the smart thermostat, but that same power does not run the igniter, nor the lights in the handle so I’ll have to also keep batteries on hand which was just a little unfortunate. One power source would have been ideal. The lowest setting on the side burner is still pretty high. We toasted buns in some butter and I had to redo a batch because the butter burnt immediately. Lastly I’ve had some issues with the construction quality. A bolt that holds the side shelf on popped out when I went to move the grill. The threads stripped, so I attempted to purchase a larger bolt with no luck. Still trying to solve that problem because I don’t want the shelf to just fall off.
smart grill missing key dumb features
Grill cooks great but smart features aren’t well thought out or worth the extra cost. There is no temperature gauge in lid so you have to use the smart thermometer which is a bit of pain in itself. Either have to plug in the grill (who wants to leave an extension cord plugged in outside) or buy your own battery charger. I bought a waterproof iPhone / camping charger to use but the Weber smart thermometer connection doesn’t recognize the power source after I leave it off for a while so I have to get under the grill to unplug and telling it back in. A smart grill at this price should come with a removable LiOn battery (which forms have the unplug issue) and the Weber app (which is pretty good) should be able to tell me the charge level so I know when to recharge. Lastly, the cooking light went out so the in my first month of using it. I wish I had stayed with the high end Weber dumb grill then buy this.
Pretty good so far - SPX-435
I purchased the SPX-435 a couple months ago after doing extensive research. During the past couple months we've used the grill to prepare around 10 entrees / meals. Generally, it's performed very well and we mostly like the features. Some minor things on the wish list for Weber Genesis grills, especially this high end model. A lithium ion battery pack should be included for powering the LED knobs and smart grill display. The drip pan should be a little deeper to hold more. Wish the parts on the bast of the grill (cabinet, etc.) had a better coating to resist corrosion. I can tell that the base / cabinet will wear out on this grill well before the firebox. If those enhancements were made, this grill would be worth every penny of the price. Also, we purchased the full griddle top for this grill. After seasoning it a few extra times (seasoned once by Weber out of the box), it's performed well. I wish you didn't have to remove the grilling grates to utilize the griddle.
Best grill I've ever owned
This is by far the best grill I've ever owned. Transitioned to natural gas on this one, so no more running out of propane and swapping out tanks. First time I used it, I turned all 5 burners on and within about 10 minutes, it got to 650 degrees. Wow. Put a filet on the next day and it seared it perfectly. Since then, I've grilled salmon, burgers, pizza, and veggies. Love the built-in lighting, digital thermometer, and iGrill meat thermometers. Highly recommend the Weber stainless steel vegetable basket for awesome veggies. Also the griddle - helps you with things like perfect thick cut bacon (which I don't cook in the house because it stinks things up).
Overall awesome. Slight issue.
Amazing grill. I have yet to use the smart features but have used the grill many times. This is my third Webber in 25 plus years. 1 charcoal and 2 gas.
Weber goes WEBER! TO INFINITY & BEYOND!
For history, this is my 3rd Weber. My first two lasted 24 years. They both still worked great! I wanted a new grill! The SPX430 changes everything in your grilling game. I bought the porcelin searing grate, the griddle, and the pizza stone as accessories. Once the accessories are seasoned you have the capability of a serious family diner on your deck. Weekend mornings will have your neighbors wondering. Corned beef hash, grilled cheese, pancakes, omelettes, pannini's. Everything you need to cook at an extreme temperature without the smoke or lingering odors in the house. Go wild outside with your recipies.
Damaged and Poor Customer Service
I worked at a hardware store 24 years ago and learned from customers how amazing Webers were. The quality of those grills would last 20+ years and you could replace individual pieces as needed. For the past 24 years I’ve sung Weber’s praises to hundreds of people and always dreamed of owning my own. That day came last month and I purchased a $2k Weber grill for the first time. It arrived and to my dismay, the lid and side shelves were cut into my Weber protective film cutting machine all along each piece. I made 5+ calls to support and they sent me new parts, to my complete dismay again - the same issue! I now have damaged parts loading up in my garage, Weber won’t pay to ship them back, I’m out $2k, I don’t have an undamaged new grill, and support still hasn’t solved the issue after 1 month. I’d recommend passing on Weber and go find something that won’t arrive broken.
WOW- I knew Webber was good but not this good!
I have been grilling for many years and up until recently I made use of several other manufactures LP grills. Cost was a factor back then but I decided to spend a bit more and try Webber this time around. I have only had it for a few weeks but I can already tell the quality is top notch. I am also blown away by how quick the grill heats up and how hot it actually gets. Seemingly, I am able to cook in 1/2 the time it used to take on other grills. I really like the app and features available. I recommend the griddle insert as well. *Cooks bacon in 1/2 the time and without my whole house smelling like bacon for a week. Overall I higly recommend this grill and I am very satisfied with my purchase.
Recommendation with smaller downturnes
The most important part: the grill brings a lot of “grilling fun” and I like the overall quality which means –overall- a recommendation to buy.
It's a grilling station.
Initially disappointed in that the wireless connect feature did not work with either a 10000mAh or 26000mAh power bank. Since the wireless connect feature worked with regular wall power, I personally deducted that the issue was with either the wiring harness, control board, or the Weber Connect Module. After 4 or 5 emails with customer service, they sent replacement parts for all three. Turns out it was a faulty control board. All features now work as advertised when using a power bank rated at 10000mAh or better. Very happy/satisfied. Aside from the numerous emails with customer service to solve my issue, I wish the SPX-435 came with a built-in thermometer for those time when you don't need to use the Weber Connect feature.
Excellent grill with a couple of minor flaws
Overall happy with the grill and am a huge fan of Weber for many years.
Amazing grill
I'm writing this about 3 weeks after receiving the grill. I've cooked for a large group and several times for just my wife and me. So far, I've been impressed. The grill heats up quickly. The sear zone is large and gets plenty hot to put a nice crust on steaks and burgers. Zones away from the sear area can be held at lower temperatures to cook side dishes. The upper grill rack is great for toasting buns and tortillas -- buns take just a minute or two and toast evenly. The temperature read out and associated phone app work great for following temperature during heating and cooking. Igniters work very quickly to light the burners. I haven't encountered any flaws or downsides.
You get what you pay for and this is a great grill
This is a fantastic grill! I have had Weber before and this one is fabulous. All the little extras are very useful and the propane tank scale is great, the only way to indicate how much propane you have left. I love being able to store accessories in an organized manner. Being able to switch between accessories to do so many things on my grill has been made so easy, it is amazing all the things that are available to fit my grill and customize it to my liking. The electronics makes it a precise way to see temp. When putting together it was easy and straight forward. This grill is heavy because it is heavy duty and designed to last, which is also indicated by the awesome warranty. You get what you pay for and it only cost a little more to go first class. SPX-435
This is the best grill of many in my long life.
This grill is the very best I’ve purchased ( including other webers) in my 76 years.
This is a premium grill, Quality of build superb. Putting it together was straight forward and if you like doing things like that it will be a joy. The grill has a lot of useful options and my favorites are the hood lights, storage compartments, tank scale to give accurate tank level based on weight, sear zone makes it nice and hot, being able to go from grill to griddle to wok to pizza stone etc is awesome. Weber did a fabulous job on this, I’m still out on the electronics, although I do like the more accurate temp read and the associated app gives good recipe suggestions. If you are looking for an exceptional grill, that will last buy Weber from HD. And the warranty is awesome.
Smart Screen Power supply big problem
The grill is sturdy and well made. However the fact you need an external power pack or it has to be plugged in is a joke. They include batteries for the ignitor and grill lights. I don’t want to plug it inevery time or tote around a battery pack. Also, there is no old style thermometer. If you don’t have a power source the grill still works but you need an external thermometer. Come on. For $1800 I wouldn’t call this a smart grill. Poor effort to add technology. Should use wifi not bluetooth for a better connection.
I’ve had many grills in my 76 years-THIS IS THE VERY BEST EVER !
Ordering was easy. The delivery people were the very best, i’m 76 years old and had many grills, smokers and this is my favorite ever!!! I’m also a little handicapped and not very mechanically inclined but I was able to easily assemble this grill by myself in a afternoon with the directions and the BLT 3-D instructions. As far as the grill itself…it’s Amazing!!! My first cook of the grill to test it out was a serloin steak. I had the grill up to high 570 in less than 10 minutes turned it down to 550 and seared and grilled the steak to a perfect medium rare in another 10 minutes. The steak was perfect with a little crispy fat and tender delicious juicy inside that melted in my mouth. I love almost everything about this grill, the sear zone, the cool lighting, the 4-caster wheels that make it easy to move, the phone app that helps in many ways with the cook and recipes. The one thing i do not like is the placement of the LP tank underneath inside the the bottom of the grill as it is very difficult to hang the tank on the holder with the doors. It’s especially hard for me as I have to hook it up and unhook it each time i use it because I store all my grills and smokers in my man cave and store the LP tanks outside in a shed. Other than that this grill is both a beast and a beauty. I look forward to many, many wonderful grills because it’s a Weber!
Webber Quality Shines Through...AGAIN!
Counting the classic Weber Kettle charcoal grill, this is the fifth Weber grill we've purchased over the past forty-plus years. By far, this is the largest, most technically advanced Weber we've ever owned. However, the one constant over the years is the quality of the grill. That quality coupled with the technology built into the grill makes this more than a "grill." This is a GRILL! From the folding upper grate to the integration of a "sear zone" to back-lit control knobs and lights that turn on as the lid is raised to tend to the foo being prepared in or on the Weber Crafted baskets and cookware, Weber has, seemingly, thought of everything needed to make this THE grill of any outdoor cook's dreams.
