BEAUTIFUL WINE FRIDGE
This wine fridge is absolutely STUNNING. Opening it out of the packaging you can feel the quality of it, especially with the wooden shelf inserts. Love that it is dual zone to keep my reds and whites at the right temperature. It screams luxury at a great price! Would highly recommend!
Beautiful & Functional Solution
We love the Newair 24" because of the dual zone, the 160 bottle capacity, how quiet it is, and honestly how great it looks. Its sleek design elevates the look of our living room, and is always a great conversation piece when we entertain. Great addition!
Very disappointed does not function as advertised
Cooler has two sections for cooling. Top section performs as advertised, cooking to 50 degrees. Bottom section will not cool to lower than 59-60 degrees well higher than advertised and Warner than recommended for red wine. The warranty folks could not diagnose and actually provided a new unit. That was great until I experienced the same problem and bottom cooling zone would not cool to better than 59-60 degrees. Warranty folks have gone silent on me. Secondarily, the shelving is too close between levels. Bottles between shelves scrape. I have to hold shelf on higher level up when inserting or removing a bottle. Not worth the few hundred dollars you will save over higher quality units.
Bought the 160 btl unit for Pinot btls and the extra space
We bought this cooler for our Mtn. home to store wine for family occasions. We had read the reviews on how the shelves were fairly tight and that the larger bottles had issues with scraping the labels, so we decided on the 160 bottle size knowing we would reduce the capacity by removing some shelves for Pinot bottles and other larger bottles. Plus we wanted the extra room to space out the bottles.
Performed Well
Like virtually all wine refrigerators, the shelves are too tight for larger bottles. There was only one shelf in each zone that fit bigger bottles, which wasn't nearly enough for me. We solved the problem by taking out two shelves, one in each zone. Since we have a lot of sparkling wines, we doubled up where the shelf was removed, and I was a little concerned it would be too much weight, but it hasn't been a problem.
Like NewAir but actual bottle capacity is WAY less than stated!
We have three smaller NewAir compressor wine coolers and decided to step up to the 160-Bottle Wine cooler for our Pinot Noir, Italian Red, Chardonnay and Champagne collection. As with the previous three units, the stated capacity of the 160 unit is far, far less than that stated. Based on prior NewAir experience we assumed such would be the case with the 160. With the previous three units we could store a few champagne bottles in the lower wire basket/racks. The 160 unit has no place for Champagne bottles anywhere unless one removes a shelf somewhere. Doing our best, we only loaded 105 bottles and even then we had to lay 2 bottles per shelf sideways (i.e. parallel to the door). Still when we try to slide open a shelf the shelf (or two) above and below the target shelf jam and slide partially open. Sometimes bottles work their way to the rear and when the shelf is slid open the bottles do a nosedive off the rear of the shelf onto the bottles below. Not good! Measuring a wine bottle and designing clearance in a wine cooler is not rocket science yet NewAir continues to allow this capacity problem to go uncorrected. The wooden racks in this unit are MUCH nicer than the wire racks in the smaller Newair units (that shred bottle labels) but are very difficult to remove to make room for larger bottles.
Impressed by both the unit and the customer service
I've had the unit for a year and a half and it's worked wonderfully. No mechanical issues, and I love the features of it. I had misplaced the key to lock the unit, and Newair's customer service center went above and beyond to help me. They had mailed out a replacement key at no cost to me in less than 3 minutes on the line. I've loved the product since we had it installed, but Newair's customer service is what will make us purchase exclusively from them moving forward. Thank you!
So far very nice. The slightly larger pinot bottles still fit...a bit snug but no hangups on other shelves. I also have higher-end pinot bottles that are even larger still, and they want to hang-up a bit so I've put them on the top and bottom shelves of the lower half. Cabernet and other bottles fit beautifully. I have about 75 bottles in now with room for probably another 40 depending on bottle type.

Overall its nice and working fine. The drawers are a bit flimsy for what you are paying for in my opinion. They work, just not as high quality as our other wine fridge. The drawers, as many other comment, will not hold as many bottles as advertised unless the bottles are the smallest diameter. Larger bottles like most chardonnay bottles will only fit on the top shelf. And forget about champagne bottles. Again, overall it looks nice and is working good. My recommendation to the manufacture would be, take out one or two drawers to make a little room for all drawers to be fully functional. Would reduce the overall quantity but as it is, I could never put anything close to 160 bottles of the wine I buy in there anyway.
Great unit at a great price.
I recently bought a NewAir 160 bottle cooler. I liked it so much I bought a second one. The two level temperature setting great for spiting whites and red wines. The unit is attractive and supports many bottle formats . The wooden shelves are of very nice wood and the unit does not need much maintenance . Highly recommend this unit and the company service is easily available and helpful.
Decent wine fridge that could use some improvements. First, the shelves are not sturdy. They are made of cheap, thin wood. Second, it is mostly silent but makes strange squeaking noises intermittently. Third, the upper zone can only be raised to 50 degrees. It would be better to have both zones have the same temperature range in case you have more red wine bottles as opposed to putting mostly whites in that zone.
Pros: It holds the different size wine bottles nicely even champagne bottles. It is aesthetically pleasing to look at. Cons: I don't like the placement of the lock on the bottom of door. It does not secure the door at the top. The top of the door will still open a little.
Nice Looking
The New Air dual zone is very nice looking and looks beautiful in my bar, but unfortunately there are a few things that aren't so great. The shelves are very tight and do not allow for bigger bottles. A normal bottle of Chardonnay will not fit unless shelves are removed which is a complete pain.
Overall Happy
So I received my NewAir 27 about 2 weeks ago. Upon arrival the door handle had some visible damage to the end of it. I emailed customer service right away and Christina emailed me back and immediately corrected it by re-ordering another handle with no questions ask other then a picture of the damaged one. EXCELLENT customer service!! As for the cooler love the looks of it and the the interior light looks great when the wines are loaded in. As for loading wines in, like many other wine coolers out there the count is based on normal 750ml cab based bottles. So any Burgundy bottles or chard bottles don't quite fit like I wish they would bringing the count down by quite a bit. But I expected this and overall very happy with the cooler.
Bought this fridge from Wayfair and the bottles did not fit in the racks, we had many bottles damaged while trying to load and unload the racks. Wayfair was unwilling to return or refund the fridge even though it was within the 30 day window.
A constant struggle
I bought my Unit in October of 2018, and all went downhill from there. It arrived damaged, side panel had a huge gash and handful of noticeable scratches,,, and the door lock was off centered. I was given an agreed upon refund and a new door shipped out. 2 months later the Unit would not hold a constant Temperature. Reading 55 on its built in thermometer and 62 to 68 degrees on a high end thermometer/humidity reader i purchased. The fans never stopped running. I was in constant contact with customer service hours on end sometimes. This is not an exaggeration. Long story short i was sent a brand new unit. Well 5 months later here i am again in contact with customer service. The temperature is Off by more then 8 degrees and i can't get the upper half to cool below 50 even with the internal temp setting at 45. Also the humidity in the unit is 35. ! the humidity in my basement outside the unit is 80! i have this stored in an ideal area, out of direct sunlight, wooden floors, and insulated environment. I have filled every water bowl they give you and place by the fans having to fill them up almost weekly. I wish i never would have tried to save a few bucks and went with a Eurocave. This is a big F for me on New Air . 2 units in less than a year both with the exact same problems. I think New Air needs to go back to the drawing board on this because something is not right with this unit. Im now panicking on what to do with the over 9k dollars worth of wine i have cooking in this while i wait on a new temperature sensor to arrive. Hope you read this before its to late.
Could be much better - 3.5 stars
I purchased this wine cooler in November 2018 based on reviews, features and price. First, the packaging for this unit, at almost 300 lbs, is inadequate, consequently, my unit was slightly damaged when it was delivered. To their credit, I was able to get someone from Newair on the phone while the shipper was still at my house. Newair gave me a discount to compensate me for the cosmetic blemishes caused by the poor packaging in order to prevent me from refusing shipment. The shipping dept. really needs to solicit more feedback regarding this and make some major changes to the packaging. For instance, the foam and the cardboard shipping container both need to be thicker and the pallet should be of standard size. The shipper was unable to use the pallet jack due to the custom size of the pallet. I really like the style and most of the features of this cooler. However, regarding the advertised capacity of 160 bottles, it is important to realize that not all Bordeaux, Burgundy, Rhone, etc. bottles are created equal. Some bottles are taller than others while some have a larger diameter at the base. If you purchase wines from all over the world, you will find a great variation in bottle height and diameter thus reducing the overall capacity of this cooler to hold these bottles. Effectively, I can store 120 bottles in my cooler, including some half-bottles and magnums. The unit is very quiet, a nice bonus since it is installed in our kitchen. It has a very sleek design with attractive, gold LED lighting at the top of each zone. Regarding the zones, I really wish that the temperature ranges were the same since my cellar is 80/20 red wines and I would prefer more storage at 55-57 F. It's not a big deal to allow my reds to warm up after removing them from the top zone which I have set to 50 F so this wasn't a deal breaker at purchase time. Overall, this unit is nice and I would recommend it with the caveats listed above.
Great wine cooler but shelves way too tight.
Just received and installed the AWR-1600. It's great looking, temps work great and it's quiet as heck....a very good thing. BUT, the shelves are cheap looking and the distance between them is too small....the only bottles that will fit are cab bottles. Anything thicker, like chardonnay or pinot bottles require removing a whole shelf because the shelves are not adjustable. Removing a whole shelf diminishes capacity unless you're storing a whole case of one wine. And, to tell you the truth I don't know if those shelves would hold a whole case. Should be a easy fix. Not sure why it hasn't been done but would not recommend this cooler until it is. Then it would be a "10" or in this case a "5" in my book.
Marginal Service & Repair
Unit functioned OK for 10 months although it took long time to reach temperature levels. LED panel went out & unit quit cooling. Have had MUCH difficulty getting warranty support. Hours of waiting on hold. We bought the Lowe's extended warranty but that doesn't apply until after the manufacturer's warranty expires. Finally got through to a 3rd party warranty administrator. No one in the surrounding area works on the cooler. We're now waiting for a decision to replace or refund purchase price. This has taken weeks. Meanwhile, my valuable wines are sitting in the garage to stay cool. Thank goodness this isn't happening in the summer!
So far, only ok
We went with HD to get the cooler, even thought it was not the lowest price, as we thought they could deliver it into the house and they would stand behind the warranty. Well, they could not deliver it inside the house and had nobody who could. We finally arranged for it and it is running well. Except for the aluminum trim on the side that is peeling off every time we open the door. Minor problem with quality control. Called NewAir and they said to call Home Depot. About to see how well they stand behind the products they sell. One other point- the racks are a bit tight if you have larger bottles- it's a tight fit for Pinot Noir and a mess for Champaign bottles. No shock, but so far, not overjoyed with the product.
