Would be great for gelato!

I bought this as an ice cream scoop, but I think it might be better for gelato consistency. It worked well! It is very well made - heavy and easy to clean. But compared to a traditional scoop, I'm not sure I'd choose this.

Let's call a spade a spade

Here's the scoop: this is great for all kinds of ice cream in larger containers. The edge cuts through the hardest ice cream. sorbet, or dairy delight. I like using it - it feels good in the hand and makes the job easier (as do all OXO tools).

I don't know why my sister would continue to use that old, wooden handled scoop that's older than she is; and she's in her 70's. I bought it as a gift and we acquired a new, half gallon of rich vanilla ice cream. This scoop cut through hard ice cream just like a butter knife through soft butter.

Handle is great, shape is great, but it does not make a dent in ice cream unless you soften the ice cream first. We recently purchased a similar one that works wonders because of the thermal material in the blade.

This is one of my favrite purchases ever! Great quality scooper and really easy to clean. Makes scooping ice cream a breezze! Note, it's surface is larger than a more traditional scooper but it doesn't interfere with regualr sized ice creams. Woud defintiely purchase again if I ever need to.

Love that it is stainless steel. I had another really nice metal one but the chrome finish started chipping off and I certainly don’t want to be eating paint! I love the shape of the scoop too.

Good quality

I've purchased many OXO products. Most of them are 5 star items, this one is no exception. It's a good weight and size. The handle is the perfect size and comfortable. It works very well on extremely hard, deep frozen ice cream. It's been washed in the dishwasher many times and still looks like new.

Best thing I have bought for hard ice cream digging, so much better than the scoop. And you can just throw it in the dish washer without it corroding. Perfect.
