Design could be better

The directions really aren’t clear where to place the white rubber gasket. I looked it up on youtube and most installers say it goes on top of the countertop. So I installed it on top of the countertop. Well that looks awful because the cover doesn’t cover the gasket. Especially when it’s on a dark countertop. It would be better if they offered this in a flared bottom design like other manufacturers do. I could have switched it out and put it underneath the countertop, but didn’t want to crawl under the sink again and redo all the connections!
