Handle broke after 3 years

We like the kettle design, as with many Alessi products. However the handle broke after only 3 years. Unlike other kitchen products this was beyond warranty and therefore not replaceable.

Cheaply made and hard to use. The dragon is plastic, doesn’t whistle well, and is hard to remove from spout. The kettle lid is very hard to remove too. This kettle is definitely not worth the $300 it costs.

Only used it for a short while so can’t comment on its longevity. I didn’t expect the dragon to be so plasticy but otherwise seems like great quality.

ALESSI Kettle

I love my new ALESSI Kettle it boils quickly & quietly, upon boiling it whistles to let me know it’s ready - the best thing is it’s so quiet as opposed to electric kettles which you have to pause the TV when making a cuppa. It is also such an attractive piece in our new kitchen.

Purchased this Alessi kettle from John Lewis Cardiff. Looks great and boils very quickly, we are very pleased with the purchase. However the dragon whistle can be difficult to get off once the kettle has boiled. On speaking to a member of staff at John Lewis Cardiff they suggested we try a different dragon whistle from there display kettle. Super customer service from the member of staff in Cardiff. (Liz ground floor) Although better still can be difficult to get off. Overall love the kettle and super customer service.

This is one of my most favorite things. Many years ago, i received it as a wedding gift and i loved it then and love it more now. The original one got lost in a move and I finally decided to replace it. It’s gorgeous, it’s versatile and it makes me smile. Michael Graves’ work is sheer genius and generally, all Alessi product is fabulous.

It's beautiful. I had a lovely electric kettle that was murdered by my cat (pictured) jumping on the switch so I decided to go for a stove top. I liked the look of this one, it whistles which pleasingly bewilders the cat and it has a DRAGON, so I am very pleased I bought it. It is expensive and looks it, it is stylish, unusual and please do not judge it's whistle negatively for being plastic. Surely a metal whistle on a kettle would not be a good idea, you would burn yourself removing it. After the steam has subsided the plastic dragon is cool enough to pull out safely. It is a beautiful plastic whistle and does not look cheap. It is well done and shiny. Using this kettle reminded me of an age when most people had stove top kettles, it takes a few minutes to boil up and that is nice. It brings back the ritual of tea making. You have time to warm your teapot, tea making should be slow and relaxing, not a quick flash of a teabag in a cup of quickly boiled water. It gives time for a sit down and a chat before the tea is made. You have time to arrange your custard creams nicely.

Quality doesn’t match price

Purchased this kettle in March 2023. By March of 2024 handle has come infused from teapot. We’ve been home to use this kettle about 2/3 of the year max and have used only about 3 times a week when home. Has not u define any unusual cleaning. For a kettle that is $200+ I expect it to last more than a year with average use. Would not buy again or recommend to others.

Alessi Kettle

I bought this to Replace a previous Alessi Kettle that started leaking from the bottom after 30 years of use! It’s great looking but does leak from the bird’s beak if you don’t remove it before pouring!

I love this kettle because it's quick to boil water. My only complaint is that we keep losing the removable bird whistler top. I have no idea where it went! If it was somehow fixed onto the kettle, that would make it a superior kettle. When lost, this makes the handlebar extremely hot and the boiling water jumps out of the spout easier making puddles on the stove top and also, making you prone to hand burns.

Great kettle really efficient

Bought this kettle for the stovetop as it holds a lot of water. Fast boil good loud whistle. Downside for this item the bird whistle is plastic not metal. It should be copper as this kettle is expensive to purchase. My plastic whistle fell onto a lited gas ring and began to melt. Hope it can be replaced. It looks good on the stove top too.

The kettle is beautiful but you must remove the bird stopper every time you want to pour the water. Also the handle does not move, making everything a little awkward. I would not have bought if I had known this.

Actually really disappointing. I don’t normally review but the whistle was so quiet , barely making a sound, that the kettle boiled dry and I had to throw it out. Sorry for negative review but that’s the truth of it.
