The foam seat cushions are firm but have a little give that makes them comfortable. The back cushion is overstuffed which makes sitting in the chair uncomfortable. I sat on the back cushion for about 1/2 hour, and the back cushion compressed just enough to make it comfortable when I sat in the chair.
