Excellent compact water heater
I've had this model in a commercial building since 2015 and it's worked great and been trouble free. Easy to install. Very compact. Just installed another one in a guest house.
Amazing
Not one complaint. Installed the unit 2 years ago and it works flawlessly. I flush it out every 6 months with vinegar. We have had 2 showers and the dishwasher going at the same time, no issues at all.
I would and have bought this tankless unit again and again
I bought my first one two years ago, and have now bought 4 in total for 4 different remodels.
Very Happy Client
We installed this for a client and it was crazy easy! Just check your electrical requirements. The unit works great too! Client is very happy! Will purchase again.
The Stiebel Eltron Tempra 20 plus was a big upgrade from their Tempra 12. The 12 was fine during the warm months but could keep up during an Arkansas winter. The 20 is MUCH better, didn't take much to upgrade the feed with the extra 40amp circuit and it keeps up just fine and provides as much pressure and hot water as one could want, particularly in the shower.
Installed nearly two years ago and running like a champ
I downsized to an 1100 sf, all-electric townhouse that needed a whole house renovation. The existing water heater took up a lot of space in a small storage room and really added to the water bill. This unit has been great in every way. My son changed the filter for me in the past, but he's now living out of state. Figuring out how to do that myself is a challenge and is the only negative thing I have to say about it.
Plumber had zero issues installing the unit and it works great. I got the Tempra 20 Plus model for ~900 SF, one shower, and two sinks for a property located in Tennessee. I wasn't sure which model to get, so I called customer service at Stiebel Eltron and this is what they recommended. This replaced an old 50 gallon electric water heater and we couldn't be happier with the difference.
This tankless water heater really performed. Primarily purchased to replace an older tank water heater. The primary objective was to be able to fill a huge jacuzzi tub with hot water. The old 40 gallon tanked water heater could not accomplish this task. The Stiebel Elton did it beyond expectations. Love the flow control of the plus system.
Best choice
We purchased the Tempra 20 Plus to replace an old 40 gallon unit during a recent upgrade to our utility room. the unit was easy to install and set up. We're about three weeks into using it and the results are 100% satisfactory. The water temperature is consistent and the supply unlimited. I'm anticipating a savings on the electric consumption compared to the former unit. Regardless, the cost of this heater, including necessary wiring and upgraded circuit requirements is still below what a conventional water heater would have cost to install, and it fits neatly on the wall. Definitely a solid choice for our 3 BR/2 Bath home.
Tankless hat water works
Fast delivery. Easy installation. It works. A tankless water heater is compact and takes up no floor space. This unit only runs when there's a call for hot water. I've installed this model before. Reliable and with minimal maintenance. Make sure your water is soft or softened.

Does not work correctly. Electrician and plumber who installed have been asked to investigate. Returning soon if unsuccessful. Two new designated 240V 40A 8 gage circuits were installed and extensive plumbing modifications to relocate the tank. Puts out barely-warmed water and is curtailing flow to what appears to be 0.6 gpm per the display. Very disappointing.
Great tankless water heater for a small family.
This tankless water heater has worked really well for the past few weeks thay I've had it. I live by myself, so this is more than enough to supply all the hot water I need, yet save me energy by not having to heat a big tank of water all day everyday. I love that this has a display that tells you the flow of hot water that it's putting out. When I turn on my big sink full blast, it starts by putting out 3.5 gallons per minute as advertised. Then quickly turns down to about 1.6gpm as that's all it can do to consistently put out 135°F water that I have it set to. I guess it's nice that it is smart enough to slow the flow to get the consistent temperature, but I wish it had a little more I guess. Doesn't negatively affect my experience at all though. I guess you'd just need to go to the next size up to have more flow at that temperature. This is my first tankless, so I'm new to it.
Best decision ever.
We replaced a traditional hot water heater with the Stiebel. We were worried the old heater would burst and flood our house. We love this tankless heater. No noise. You would never know it is in the hall closet. Hot water on demand should be the only option for houses. I love it.
Very happy
Install was straight forward, not very difficult. Works better than my oil furnace hot water and at $6/gal oil, saving money. Water pressure may even be better. Also, installed it closer to the fixtures so getting hot water faster. No complaints, quality unit. The screen is a little difficult to read if you're short and/or mount it above your head but I only looked to set the temp. once, not an issue.
Works like it should - no complaints
I had the Tempra 24 Plus installed in June of 2020 and it's been great. I haven't run out of hot water when my family are all taking showers around the same time or when the dishwasher or washing machine are also running hot water. I love that I can simply adjust the temperature on it as well. I will say that I was renovating my garage and the electrician put in a new electrical panel so he also made sure it would handle everything in there. Supply House was great to deal with and helped me figure out what size I needed as well.
Third tankless and Satisfied so far
Bought to replace a 50 gallon heater. Took some time to run the correct wiring and some re-plumbing. This is the third tankless heater and now out entire house and wife's canning kitchen is tankless. Have read some negative reviews on tankless, however if you run a cleaning flush on them, they seem to work fine. One is 7 yrs old. one is 3 yrs, and this one was just installed.

This is a great product. I've been using a Stiebel tankless for years. I have 2 tankless units (this prior Stiebel and another brand) and I replaced the other brand. The prior Steibel model was great but this one is even better. The readout now shows, in addition to the set temperature, both the GPM flow and the % of heating capacity being used.

We just installed the heater for a month now. We live in San Francisco so the heater usually pushing up 50-60 degree to 115. We found out it is OK with 1 shower and 1 faucet (for washing hands but not washing dishes in kitchen) or whenever under 2 GPM so we just need to learn and manage it to avoid 2 showers at the same time. It takes average about 1 min to get to 115 from we turn on the shower. It is a solid performer but you just need to know its limit. From what I seeing, we using about 15 KW per day (20 mins shower x 3) when it turns on. The only compliant I have is the display is really hard to see.
[Rewarded Review] No pressure - lower GPM than advertised
This model states it can do 1.6 GPM in the coldest climate. I am in MA, bordering on the 42/52 degrees area on their map. My unit only does 1.3 GPM when set at 105 degrees. Thats the rating for the Tempra 12. Lowering the temp to 80 degrees gets up to 1.9 GPM.
Great product works as described
This was easy to install and does a fantastic job so far. My only problem was drilling into the brick in the basement of this over 100 year old house. You must have ample space in your breaker box for the electrical hook up it takes 2 50 amp 220 breakers. The instructions for plumbing and wiring are straight forward. No venting outside and takes up much less space than a tanked hot water heater. Some of the complaints I have read talk about the time it takes hot water to get to the point of use, which is ridiculous because it takes time for hot water to reach use point from a tank depending on distance. I would highly recommend it so far as long as it last more than five years like the last tank hot water heater did I am sold. Even at that I am sold because of space and lack of venting issues solved.
