Crap!
Thor Rangers are a piece of crap. Customer service and tech-support are lousy. It is a Chinese manufactured company tech-support says you have to set the dial 25 to 50° above the desired temperature for the oven to reach desired temperature. This is really stupid. Prepares food poorly. worst investment I ever made.
[Rewarded Review] Do not buy a Thor oven
I bought a Thor 36” electric range in 2022 and within 18 months the cooktop had to be replaced under warranty. I am now 2 1/2 years out, the oven is out of warranty and the convection fan has stopped working and the oven is no longer working. The oven is total garbage do not get it. The oven is also missing a dial because part of it melted, and it is not fixable. Parts are hard to get Thor is difficult to get a hold of and they are not very helpful.
[Rewarded Review] Thor Range
I love my stove!!! I've had it for 2yrs now and I really love it. 2 things, the pilot light went out and was damaged due to a spillage and it costs $700 to fix smh. If you have a spill under the grates, it's hard to reach. Also I don't know what to call it but the pilot topper where the flames comes out that is cast iron fades to gray very quickly and I used a cast iron stain to get it back black but it doesn't work. Other than that, I still love my stove.
Worst range ever
Oven temperature inaccurate, burners frequently don't light, knobs are very hot to the touch. Nothing but trouble from day 1. We decided that we would not invest any more money in this piece of junk, and instead just get rid of it when the next repair was needed. The oven fan started making noise, so I figured that would be the next thing to go - but no - surprise! - one of the door hinges broke. This piece of junk is going out to the curb, and it is less than 4 years old!
I Love this Range!
I moved from overseas in 2018 where I had a professional range and other kitchen appliances in my house. I downsized dramatically in Santa Fe. The previous owners were cooking on a 4 burner white enamel "Barbie Doll" range with a max. of around 5,000 BTU- trying to use a wok, got simmered I veggies- not 'woked' with 10,000 BTU.
The perfect package for us
How I came to selecting this Company and Appliance package is kind of relevant. Our previous Range by a well known manufacturer was considerably more expensive, about the same size and had fancy display... Great while it lasted. Unfortunately, the microprocessor chip on the controlee panel went bad. Not covered by warranty, replacement board not available, sent off for repair to two different repair facilities both returned unable to acquire the "microprocessor chip".
[Rewarded Review] Very dissapointing
As a chef, I purchased this range/oven and had it installed in March 2022 with expectations of a great cooking/baking experience in my home. Although, it is a beautiful piece of equipment, the oven is not what I expected. I have found that there is some type of thermostat issue. it bakes very unevenly (even on convection), the temperature fluctuates and half of my products are burnt, while the other half is raw. I have contacted the warranty department and we will see what they have to say. The range is ok, but very finicky and adjustments have to be made all while cooking to accomodate the lack of consistency in the flames. I do not think this is a reccomendable product. Very dissapointing.
Oven has stopped working
Our Thor came with our house, so, we're the second owners. That being said the oven is less than 2 years old and has stopped working. The oven trips the breaker in less than 10 seconds. Two different repairmen have come to look at it, each has found nothing wrong with it they can identify and an electrician who has replaced the breaker even though they said it was 99% not the breaker. Yet something in the oven keeps tripping the breaker. We're $500 into it at this point.
Leaks gas, poorly made
Don't be deceived by the stunning look of this gas range - you get what you pay for. It is beautiful and mirrors that of a Wolf or Viking from the photos, but it is very poorly made. I purchased this range recently and had it installed by a professional and it was immediately leaking gas from one of the elements and from the oven. This means that either the regulator and/or the seals and components were not properly made and installed in the factory! What's strange is that usually these tests are run in the factor on each range before it goes out and is sold and the fact that this was not flagged or picked up is very concerning and demonstrate poor Standard Operating Procedures with this company. I now have a beautiful stove sitting in my kitchen for past week and not able to use it. Thor's response time for a fix is very slow as well and they outsource to local companies that are not reliable or responsive. Do yourself a favour and spend the extra money on a reputable brand that works out of the box.
Knobs Peel, Service from Thor terrible
I bought this stove (but the 30" model, that seems to not be sold at Lowe's any longer) 3 years ago, and I usually don't participate in writing reviews, but in this case I just feel obligated, hoping it will save someone else from wasting their money on this product. If the knobs are not the cheap foil covered ones, then okay...maybe. The knobs on my stove started peeling shortly after install (I cook and bake a lot). The writing on the stainless steel face plate (that the knobs are on), also rubbed off - so that means guessing what temperature you set you oven to. The service from Thor directly is non-existent! I've tried contacting them via phone and email - over the course of 2 years, and have had no response from them. One of my igniters stopped working properly about 6 months in, randomly. I troubleshooted and cleaned the igniter, adjusted the gas flow, and it still doesn't work properly. I would not recommend this product because of the cheaply covered foil knobs that peel because the stove front gets too hot to touch when the oven is in use. The oven grates also don't slide easily and it is impossible to clean. If you even, just once splatter grease on it from a chicken or something, you will never get it off!!
Amazing Range!
Been using the Thor for 6 months, figured it was high time for a review.
The Good and Bad
Well purchased this over. Over two years ago so heres what I have for so far.
