Highly Recommend
I bought this desk for my home office. Description is vintage black and that is what I got (other reviews say they thought it was gray or brown?). It is black with the vintage look so it is spot on with what I thought color wise. I love the color!
This the second one of these desks that I purchased. The first was for my daughter when Covid hit and moved school to remote operation followed by a second for my father in law. It's a nice looking piece of furniture that was not difficult to put together. Good quality for the price. It's attractive in both rooms and has gotten tons of use - held up well so far. It's definitely a good purchase.
Beautiful but assembly is a B*
The desk is worth the assembly. It's really pretty and will fit my needs perfectly. I'm giving it four stars because it doesn't have a hole in the back for wires which isn't good if you don't have normal length wires, unless you're going to keep this literally over an outlet. Also giving it four stars because the assembly is NO JOKE. Like, seriously, don't underestimate this thing. It took me eight hours to build by myself...and I'm very well versed in building furniture, having built the majority of the pieces in my apartment. I do not recommend trying to build this alone, especially if you don't lift regularly or have any hand/back problems. You can't really use a drill for the majority of the pieces; you have to use a Phillips head screwdriver. If you can afford it, get the expert assembly (I'm not sure if it's offered for this). I tried to add it on after I bought it but couldn't. Anyway, the desk is lovely and I really hope it lasts the test of time.
Great desk, spacious, lots of book shelves
Great desk! Kids love it. Spacious. Enough desk space for 2 laptops and other electronics, putting all their school books, personal books, and knick knacks. Other desks I searched for were smaller and didn't have the top shelf space for books as this desk. I will admit the build was hard. You need power tools and patience. All easily explained but it's lengthy to set up. Nonetheless highly recommend if you are looking for a great desk.
worst thing we have ever put together!!
So Bush furniture should try purchasing their products somewhere other than China. Instructions horrible and 2000 pieces. Way worse than any ikea furniture. Quality isn't all that great. Sad that something we purchased for our daughters future could make a person so angry. I don't recommend purchasing from Bush furniture unless you want to stop life in its entirety to put it together. Even now that's it all put together i still can't look at it. It makes me ill to think about it . Never again. Horrible experience with a horrible company! Do not purchase!
Pretty but complicated.
Packaging was really good as the delivery man just threw it into my porch but nothing was broken. Took an hour just to unpack and take inventory. I am an experienced assembler and this was the most complicated I have ever seen; about 40 particle board parts and 200+ pieces of hardware. BTW: You get EXACTLY the number of hardware pieces needed. No extras at all. Good thing I didn't lose any. It took me several hours spread over a couple of days to do the assembly. It gets tiring after a while. When they tell you you need an assistant, you do. BE VERY CAREFUL MOVING PARTIALLY ASSEMBLED PIECES. Phillips screwdriver and hammer are the only tools needed. Do this on a carpet or a blanket so as not to damage anything. For pictorial instructions, I have to say they were excellent. Be very careful of the orientation of the pieces before you put them together. Piece DD had me turned around and the small block FF was particularly fragile. I did make a couple mistakes that I was able to recover from. DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU DON'T HAVE ASSEMBLY EXPERIENCE. Lastly, because the top section is only attached to the bottom with L brackets in the back, I added a couple near the front part of the top section for stability. IT IS A BEAUTIFUL AND FUNCTIONAL PIECE BUT ONLY IF YOU ARE UP FOR THE CHALLENGE.
I purchased this desk for my online graduate program. I knew I'd be sitting at the desk upwards of 30 hours a week studying and writing papers. In short, this desk is perfect. It's beautiful to look at, provides me with enough space to work, and the storage up top is fantastic. I do wish the side portion was all drawers since I do not have a computer tower. However, that is my only recommendation. I put this together myself and it took me about 6 hours with breaks. The directions were easy to follow.
It's overwhelming.
I'm very familiar with putting things together but this desk and hutch was way out of my league. It's overwhelming seeing all the unrecognizable pieces, large, small and tiny that have to go into building this thing. I finally got one of my son's friends to put it together and it took a little over 4 hours and he worked non stop on it too. It looks really nice when put together though. Mine came with a computer chair.. ugh.. worst computer chair ever. It's small and very uncomfortable. The back of it is fairly straight so it's not comfortable. That was easy to put together though.
Overall a good purchase
Unit is solid when assembled (which takes less than 2 hours), and will suit my purpose quite well. I have carpeted floors so I immediately purchases a set of teflon discs to place under each leg which makes it much easier to move the desk unit. I feel that this item will fill my needs for several years to come and I am well pleased with my purchase. The finish is a creamy color with soft gray undertones; plenty of surface space, as well as space underneath for your legs. Given how inexpensive the unit was (including assembly), I feel that I certainly got my money's worth.
As others have commented this is the most complex assembly I have ever done. There are many pieces that might have been preassembled like little spacers but they don’t. I did it alone and it took much more then the 2 hours others mentioned. Absolutely you need to have more glue on hand than what they give you. There must be 30 little bags of different screws, washers, cams, pins etc. and not one spare, so if you drop a screw and lose it or the pin breaks you will need to call them for more. I found that usually provides a spare so fortunately had an extra on hand when the pin snapped even though the clutch on my drill was set quite low. The pictographs showing assembly are a little convoluted as to lefts and rights or which side you are looking at and generally the whole assembly, packaging and instructions were about the worst I have ever seen. Once all done it isn’t bad looking and for us it fit perfectly our needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
What factors should I consider when choosing a desk for a home office?
Consider the desk size, storage needs, material, and ergonomic design to ensure comfort and productivity.
How can I maximize space with a small desk?
Use vertical storage solutions, organize cables, and keep only essential items on the desk to maximize space.
Is it better to have a desk with or without drawers?
It depends on your storage needs. Drawers offer built-in storage, while a desk without drawers may offer more legroom and a cleaner look.
What are the optimal desk dimensions for a home office?
The desk should be at least 32 inches (81 cm) deep for a slim monitor and about 39 inches (99 cm) wide for ample working space. The standard height is about 30 inches (76 cm).
How can I use different interior design styles together?
Juxtaposing different styles, such as placing an old-fashioned desk next to a modern chair, creates a visually interesting space. Maintaining a balance between styles is key.
What are the ergonomic considerations for a home office desk and chair?
The desk height should be approximately 30 inches (76 cm), with enough space under the desk for your legs — at least 24 inches (61 cm) for a desk chair with legs. For a chair with castors, a clearance space of 28 inches (71 cm) from the desk's edge is recommended.
How much space is required for a comfortable desk chair?
A chair with legs needs around 28 inches (71 cm) from the nearest desk edge, while a swivel chair requires more space due to its mobility.
What is the ergonomic height for a desk chair?
The seat of a desk chair should be about 18 inches (46 cm) high, with adjustable armrests for lateral and height movement.
What are the key measurements for ergonomic furniture design?
Work surfaces should be about 36 inches (91 cm) high, with at least 8 inches (20 cm) of legroom under the work surface, and office chairs should provide 28 inches (71 cm) of space for legroom.
