I was thinking of using these to mount a towel rack a bit further from the wall, so I had room for a bigger towel. It would have worked, but the finish wasn't quite what I wanted - the bevel was crumbly, though once it was painted it would probably be fine. I decided to get a big maple dowel and cut slices from that, instead (my wife wanted an inch, and preferred a disc).
