Chintzy
I wanted to love this carrier because the design is perfect for my cat who refuses to get out of the carrier at the vet and can become less than pleasant. However it's so cheap it's practically unusable. The handle broke off when I lifted it while empty. The door falls off when you open it. In order to close it you have to bend the plastic in order to align the door properly. And the plastic is so thin and flexible it doesn't feel safe. I'm a loyal Chewy customer but this was so disappointing.
It slides open.
Belle is 12 years old and has arthritis. It's easier to get in and out for her.
Not easy to use have to put the door on and off every time to use the cage dum
I hate this cage makes me angry to put the door on is a pain in the butt when you open it the door falls off. You have to put it back on again.
Don't Bother With This Sliding Drawer Carrier
There are a few things I did not like about this carrier:
perfect for scared cat
Pirate hates to go to vet. We popped him in the bottom half and slid him in. No fussing. Vet slid him out on the bottom half, no fussing. Gate is a bit tricky to place properly initially and needs to have suitable lubricant to slide easily but works for us as expected.
Cat crate
The black gate doesn’t work like it should and it is much to small for my cats
Not EZ
This carrier is very flimsy in the front. It is difficult to line up the latch. My top load carriers are much easier to load cats into and sturdier.
Best bunny carrier!
Sir Blue loves this carrier when performing magic with us. Easy in and out!
New pet carrier
Buddy likes it it's much easier to get him in and out of the carrier and lot less trouble
Not thrilled
The handle was broken so I had to MacGyver it. Other than that it is good.
Cheap
very cheap. No way would this carrier hold up with a 20 lbs. cat?
Vet recommended
This carrier was recommended by my vet. It makes it much easier for them to access your cat . The only thing I didn’t like about it was the front door. When it is closed the door works great. But as soon as it is unlatched the door comes out. This would be great only the door is how you slide it open. Otherwise it is a sturdy little carrier.
Love this!
Got this carrier for my bunny and I love it! I was so easy to get set up with a blanket and hay, easy to get him out when we got to the vet and easy to clean!
Wished this worked, but it didn't
I have 2 year old siblings who are very difficult to get into their carriers. I didn't put these together until a couple of months after receiving, due to illness. When I did have time, I simply could not get the black metal door to fit properly into the "holes" at the bottom of the blue part. Thus, when attempting to close, the metal piece that you squeeze together would not go into the correct place either. Attempting to put a wild kitty into this was ridiculous. Every time I tried to pull the white plastic up to the front and squeeze the locking portion, the whole bottom of it would slip out of place. And, in order to squeeze this closed, you need to have strength in your hands. Attempting to fix this without having an animal inside was still very difficult. Good in theory, but terrible in real life.
Flimsy - But Does the Job
Was disappointed in the quality of the plastic - a small part cracked during setup. A bit of a learning curve to opening and closing the drawer.
Good.
I thought this would be better than shoving my cat in the cage head first. Turns out, he jumps out before I have time to slide him in.
Thought I was going to love this.
The idea of the slide out drawer versus having to reach in and pull my frightened cats out of their carriers sounded wonderful. Other people seem to really like theirs. Myself - I had trouble with the front gate. It didn't fit into place well at all. As much as I wanted and tried to make this happen I just couldn't. I was so very disappointed. You will not find a seller of anything more lovely than Chewy. I was refunded. I'm going to take the carrier to an animal shelter in my town and see if it can be of use to them or a potential adopter. They may have some insightful way to get this carrier to fit together securely.
A Definite Must for Any Feline!
This calm carrier is fantastic and works well. Good instruction for assembly. Highly recommended.
Gate issue resolved!
I purchased 3 of these and was having problems like some of the other reviewers noted with a gate being loose or not stable, and not even fitting into the locking holes upon latching. I was sadly going to return them but decided to view the video instruction VanNess provides on its You Tube Channel. The presenter on the video clearly gets the bottom of the gate to Click with a undeniable sound which clearly resulted in a secure fit. I realized that although I had aligned the holes at the bottom of the gate, I did not press down as hard as the video demonstrated. When I went back to my carriers and performed this single instruction very firmly and got a real Click sound, what that meant was that the two metal extensions at the bottom of the gate actually punch through those two holes at the bottom and indeed create a secure fit for the gate. I was so happy to have resolved that issue, because I was looking forward to getting my cats into their carrier much easier than had been the case in the past, and this unique design held so much promise for achieving that. The only reason I did not give it all 5 stars is because I still have not tested it with my cats in a real life situation getting them into this carrier. Will update this review after my next vet appointment using it!
Prefer the top loading hard carriers.
I gave up trying to attach the gate securely. Way too large.
