LOVE this tortilla press! It
LOVE this tortilla press! It made light work of homemade tortillas. I struggled multiple times rolling with a rolling pin. No more! Can’t wait to make them again & again!
Press tortilla press in the world
I wish I had bought this press sooner!! It is amazing at making naan, flatbread and pita, along with tortillas. Corn or flour. This amazing press saves me time, my wrists so much work and makes me want to cook more often. I love all things cast iron. the durability and weight really do all the work. If it wasn't for pie crusts I would give away my rolling pin. Totally worth it. I will love it for years!
Poor customer service, lost in shipping.
Unfortunately I never received my tortilla press. UPS lost it in transit. Macy’s customer service falsely claimed that it would be delivered the day I called (after 10 days with no shipping progress). During my second call I was told again that it would be delivered soon. I had to interrupt the agent to call them out on their false info. They changed their approach from the script to now talking to me like a normal person. They assured me that they would ship a new press, but the next day I had a refund to my account. The press was now out of stock so they automatically refunded my money instead of waiting for restock, which meant I would have to pay full price. It’s no longer on sale so I ordered from another source. Note: Macy’s price is nearly doubled everywhere else I found online.
Great quality
I do not use my tortilla press for tortillas, I use it to press out my ground beef for smash burgers. And it does a great job! The tortilla press is made of great quality and super easy to assemble. My press was delivered to my house when it was raining, unbeknownst to me, and was left outside for over 12 hours. When I discovered my package, the box literally fell apart from being saturated in water. I inspected the press and there was no rust! I washed it throughly and patted it dry. Rubbed oil all over it and have been using it since.
An appreciated gift
The gift recipient had discovered King Arthur organic, gluten free masa harina.
Easy and fun
The press is easy to use and produces great corn tortillas. I have not yet tried making flour tortillas. If I end up using this often, I may consider a larger press. This is really too small for burritos.
Heavy Duty Press
Our tortilla press was the perfect tool to make our traditional Christmas Eve meal. I used it for the tostones (plantains) and tortillas. Though it is heavy, I didn't have to worry about it moving around on my counter during use like my old wooden version. Easy assembly and cleanup.
Perfect press.
Simple to assemble. Light pressure to press out the masa. I also turned the tortilla 180 as I read in a couple of other reviews and did a quick light press again as it is slightly thicker on one side otherwise. Wow, so fast and easy. I highly recommend this product!
Enjoying the experience!
Growing up on a farm that employed migrant workers, we were treated to tortillas. So many years later, the memory of that taste is so overwhelming! Warm, tender, flavorful flatbread -- simple, yet prompts so many memories! Of course, our migrant workers made them completely by hand -- this press makes light work of the process. Thank you!
Easy to use. Quality construction.
Love it! Have used it several times in just the first few weeks. So easy to use. Heavy- duty cast iron construction. I sit it on a potholder so it won't scratch my counters- not sure it would be an issue, but just in case. I use a split quart-size storage bag to prevent sticking and for easy clean up. Great for both corn and flour tortillas.
Heavy duty, multi-purpose
Made a difference in pressing my masa corn tortillas. I originally tried the recipe w/o the press, and the press definitely made the difference. At first I thought it was odd the the handle was at the opposite end but hey-it worked beautifully. To add to this, I purchase the round parchment made for 8" pans. After making the tortillas I rinsed each of the parchment papers and dried, then I stored back in the cleaned/dried press for next use. I figure I will also use this for mini pastries such as kiffels. Anything small where you need to roll the dough.
SOLID tortilla press; fast shipping
This is not like my mom's light weight 6" aluminum press Read: this solid cast iron tortilla is heavyweight. Absolutely perfect - looking forward to using it forever (fingers crossed.) Comes with an extra cotter pin, and for me, it came in the original minimal packaging. This was just a cardboard box, but I imagine this is an indestructible item, so the box was a bit destroyed and the tortilla press... well, it's in perfect condition. haha. Price seems good - for a big chunk of solid metal that may really work forever, $25 was great.
Quality product
I recently started making my own tortillas and was using a plate to press down the dough but that method only made thick tortillas. I decided to get serious and purchase a press. After reading reviews on-line for several different manufacturers, I found this one and almost all of the reviews were positive. I tested it out last night and the tortillas came out to the perfect thickness and it was very uniform across the tortilla. The instructions that came with the press were helpful in achieving a great result. My family is loving the fresh made tortillas over the store bought ones. Looking forward to the next taco night!
Great tortilla press!
Excellent press! First batch of corn tortillas came out well. I still need to work on the perfect dough, but that comes with practice.
I love this Victoria cast iron tortilla press! It makes delicious fresh tortillas a breeze. The secret to avoiding sticking and torn tortillas is to use plastic sheets to sandwich the dough. Zip lock bags cut into squares work well and can be used many times. After pressing, just peel the plastic off and put the tortillas in preheated, lightly oiled skillet (I use cast iron). While one is cooking, another is pressed and prepared. The cast iron is definitely superior to the wooden one that I once had. It is solid and a great value.
