Our home was built in the late 1960's. The original cedar shingle siding was dated, worn and required either painting or replacement. We chose to replace it, and did so with Hardie Plank. We took the opportunity to replace all the exterior fitments on the home as-well (mailslots, door knobs, door knockers, door bell buttons, house numbers, exterior lights, etc...).

My Experience
I bought two of these to replace existing ones on my front door and had to return them (at my expense) because the holes for the new ones did not align with the standard spacing used for the old ones. If you are putting up brand new doors, then it may not be an issue. Customer service was excellent, however, and I would buy from this site again!
