Disappointed in Pittsburgh

I was told the food processor would fit my vitamix by the sales associate. I was so excited when it arrived only to have my excitement drowned when it didn't fit and i would have to buy a newer vitamix!! I simply vannot afford a new vitamix, so the processor had to be returned. I was so disappointed as i don't ever buy anything for myself but had received gift cards to WS.

This is not an attachment I would recommend anybody unless maybe you're like a top chef and it would come in handy. For what I do, the blender itself works great. Initially bought it with intentions for mainly french fries but I'm not impressed. There really is too much engineering/design put into this for what it is. What I mean by that is there too much safety going on here. I'm not against safety but really though.. an operator could easily stick their hand in the blender and cause major injury.. So why not just simplify this for what it is. The best way I can explain it would be putting everything together.. put this piece and to this piece into this piece and to this piece and then into this piece everything lining up until the motor mechanism will actually engage. Another minor thing I'm not till about is the gap between the blade and the top of the lid. It just makes wasted product. All right now the last thing is just so bulky. It's supposed to be just an attachment to save space but in reality may as well just get a different processor with less hassle.

Durable but pricey

Wish I got this with the mixer in the first place! It’s built to last, easy to clean (dishwasher safe) and stores compactly. Expensive for what it is, but hey so is the mixer. Blades are super sharp so be careful.

Finally enjoying my food processor

I've always owned food processors, actually several, but never bothered using them. They were difficult to use, difficult to assemble and difficult to clean, so I just sliced and diced with my knife. With the Vitamix food processor, it's seriously easy to assemble, use and clean. Now I just throw my raw veggies in and with a couple pulses, they are sliced and diced perfectly. One of my favorite things is how quick and easy it is to make my own mirepoix. Instead of buying the old, rancid and expensive pre-made mirepoix, I make my own in seconds.

This food processor works great! It definitey takes advantage of the vitamix's motor, but gears it down so that the blades arent moving so fast. It does a good job of circulating ingredients in things like salsas and hummus in recipes where I used to have to scrape down the sides of the bowl in other processors. It comes with a few handy accessories, but I mostly use the primary blade. Its nice having one motor on the counter and swapping back and forth between the blender pitcher and this.

I love my vitamix

I've been lusting after a vitamix for years and I finally got one for my wedding. I love it! I honestly didn't even know about the food processor attachment until my friend suggested it. The thought of having one less appliance in my kitchen thrilled me. I do wish it was tad bigger but overall it's really fantastic. The slicing attachment come stored in this little case which I completely love. I hate when attachments are floating around just begging to cut you when you stick your hand in the cabinet. Did I say I love this product? Because I do. And yes, buy it.

Works great, but could use some streamlining

I love this thing. It’s more powerful and SO much quieter than my old one. It also feels much sturdier. So far I’ve made incredible hummus and used it to slice/ shred slaw ingredients. A few cons - the snap on lid is MUCH harder to get off than the blender container. The good thing is that I 100% know it’s secure once it snaps on… but kinda hard to get off, and I’m no weakling. Also, I know the little plastic arm on the big pusher is a safety feature, but it makes it impossible to continuously feed in chunks of anything that won’t fit in the small pusher hole for shredding. You have to turn the machine off and reload for every single piece of food you want to shred - quite tedious. Finally, I wish there was more than one speed option, but that’s minor. Just kinda surprised it can’t use the variable speeds of the base, as it seems like that would be a good function for making doughs. All in all very satisfied, but those few issues bring this down to 4 stars for me.

Difficult to use for shredding cheese

I brought a vitamix and the 12-cup food processor attachment together as a early Xmas gift to myself. I finally used the food processor today to shred cheese for pimento cheese dip. I was greatly disappointed on how it performed and the overall design itself. I put my cheeses in the freezer to firm up before putting it through the food processor. I had a smaller food processor that no longer worked. It had a longish rectangular opening.

So happy to have ONE motor and MULTIPLE APPLIANCES

After buying this Food Processor and my Vitamix blender I waited a couple months to write my review so that I could use it in my everyday routine. My Vitamix blender has a permanent spot on my very limited counter. I can made a morning protein smoothie/shake, a fresh lunch soup and now with the Food Processor its a matter of popping on the processor body and cutting veg for salads, mixing pizza dough or slicing carrots/potatoes for steaming and even fine slicing potatoes for air fried chips or using the new veg blade, cutting french fries for the air fryer. now that it's so accessible on the counter and easy to use, I can say I use that food processor at least 3-4 times per week and some weeks even more. I no longer have to haul out my 13 cup food processor and put it away every time I wanted to use it. Because of the hassle of in/out of the cupboard, I found i didn't use it and sacrificed with a mandolin or knife. In fact the Vitamix Food Processor was a game changer for me. I had waited my entire adulthood to Buy a Vitamix blender and having the Food Processor tipped the scales for me. Thanks Vitamix for the innovation on this accessory and thanks for your Certified Reconditioned program. I was able to buy the blender of my dreams at a super price that enabled me to buy the Food Processor. My only request is to produce a thick slicing blade that actually cuts thick slices of a 1/4 - 5/8 inch size.

No speed control is surprising and disappointing

First, I was motivated to get the food processor attachment for Vitamix because I love my blender and the quality of Vitamix (I’ve had a BLENDTEC too). The food processor is easily stored and it is handy to not have another machine in the cupboard! The attachments are very sharp, and I’ve used the shredding attachments, thin slicing attachment, and the S-blade. Everything fits together snugly and works smoothly.

Looks good but lacks all the functions

I was extremely excited when I heard this attachment came out. Took it home and tried it out and like most things the excitement wears off when it comes to functionality.

Vitamix Food Processor Attachment does it all

I absolutely love my Vitamix food processor attachment, and use it every day. I have owned other food processors, but none compares with the ease of use and clean up of my Vitamix. I have used it preparing breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and appetizers, and desserts. It slices fruits and veggies to just the right size to make the most perfect salads, coleslaw, vegetables to steam, and of course apple slices for the best apple pies and cobbler’s. I use it to make the most delicious, best textured pastry dough. I have made homemade mayonnaise which I add to my food processor made chicken salad. I have made the best pizza dough which I top with cheese shredded with one of the included discs. As long as I have my Vitamix and food processor attachment, I can turn a few everyday ingredients into a gourmet dish!

Every time when Vitamix comes up with a new product I get really excited because I expect the same perfection that I find in its blenders...

Cracks on the Self-detect base stick

I’m just curious to see if anyone here sees small vertical cracks on their Self-detect base stick. I bought the food processor last month. Unfortunately, I had to return it for a replacement due to 2 thin cracks.

Love it!

I'd been in the market for my first food processor, but I was having trouble picking just the right one. I decided on this attachment because I really liked the idea of it being a single base for both the food processor and the blender, since I'm very limited on counter space in my small NYC apartment. I purchased an A3500 to go with it, figuring if the food processor didn't work out well, I'd at least have a good blender. Turns out the food processor is awesome! I haven't had any trouble with the base detecting the food processor attachment. It's done a great job on everything I've put in it so far: shredding hard and soft cheeses and shredding or slicing many kinds of vegetables. I'm also very impressed with how well thought out the design is, from all the drainage on all the pieces, so water won't collect anywhere, to how everything fits together pretty compactly for storage. The only downside for me is that it's not super quick to clean, and it takes up a lot of space when drying. Running the clean cycle only cleans the bowl and the multi-use blade, whether the blade was dirty or not. The lid, pusher slots, pushers, and slicing/shredding blades all have to be cleaned separately. It's definitely not a deal breaker, and I imagine any food processor would be time consuming to clean. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase!

Great, But Needs Dicer Discs

This works great and chops food so quickly. I've especially been enjoying using it to make date and nut energy bites.

Exellent Product.

I ordered me a A2300 blender for christmas along with a dry container and the food processor attachment. It worked the first time using it over the christmas holiday. I was so excited, but then it was not detecting the attachments mainly the food processor attachment. I was mad and disappointed wondering if I made the right purchase or not. I had to wait until the Monday morning after Christmas to call Vitamix. Vitamix replaced my blender with no hassle. I received the shipping label at no cost to me sent my blender and base back to Vitamix. I received my new blender attachment about a week later. I still give a 5 star rating despite the error code problem I had to deal with because Vitamix was excellent in its service to get me a replacement fast. Besides, the review of the product is where the stars count the mostly in my opinion. The FP attachment works wonders. I used to stand for several hours in preparing my fruits and veggies for juicing and for the weekly meals I would prep. Not anymore. It chops very nice, slices excellent, and I have yet to try it to grate anything. I will have to try that soon. At least I no longer need to buy pre-grated cheese which will save me money. This is my first food processor i have ever owned. I really love how convenient it is to have one machine that performs multiple functions. The convenience of easy storage (the blender is always out on the base on my counter because of repeated use) allowse to keep all FP attachments in one place for easy access for use of the product.

Quality, Streamlining Piece

This is a really excellent attachment that hugely expands the capabilities of the Vitamix. I purchased this because I only had a mini-chop and I did not really have the space for another full size machine. While the container is about the size as a Cuisinart 14-cup, there is not a second motor base to deal with, make counter space for, or find an outlet. I just had no interest in having to swap machines from the counter.
