Thicker and Stronger

I ordered this product before because it was a nice size. This time around it was new and improved. Ver sturdy and thicker material. I will order more.

Good quality - Sturdy

This is a great portable file box. It is very sturdy. I love that it is clear too. Allows me to tape a label on the inside for quick reference. I have bought several over the past couple of years.

Convenient and Sturdy

I bought this file box to be able to separate certain types of documents from others filed in the first Iris file box I also bought at The Container Store. The box is just big enough to be useful while also being small enough to move easily and conveniently. I love the sturdy handle and the compartments for pens, paperclips, etc. I highly recommend the Iris Weathertight Portable File Box. I have three of them and just love them.

Just what I needed!

With the pretty blue hanging folders I placed inside, this translucent portable file box is better looking than the clunky black one it replaced. Filing seems less tedious! My only concern is that the folders do sometimes fall off the built-in rails - that's why I rated 4 out of 5 stars.

I am returning these

I bought two of these file boxes and must return both. the clasps on the front fall off nearly every time I open them. This happened from Day One! At first I thought it was my fault, that I wasn't opening them properly. But that is not the case. They are poorly designed and don't function well.

Like that its clear. I can see the contents.

I got the IRIS USA plastic Legal file storage box with organizer lid to use for paper storage at my home. I like that it’s clear in color and it allows me to see the contents. It is the size to hold hanging files too. It has a nice handle on top that folds down into the top to allow you to stack more boxes if desired.

Waterproof

I needed a file box for important papers so I found this box which was exactly the size I needed and I couldn't beat the price so without inspecting it, I bought it. 2 weeks after having it on a shelf in a closet, a water pipe burst and flooded that closet. Little did I know the file box is waterproof. It said it right on the sticker on the box, I just never noticed. Nothing in that box got a single drop off water, whilst most things in the closet were ruined. I'm SO glad I bought this file box.

Durable!

The file box is plastic, and about the thickness of your standard tote. The lid flips open and closed and has a plastic snap lock to keep the lid closed. I did Drop the box twice to see durability and it held up with no cracks or breakage. It fits the standard size file folders if you want to put your stuff in file folders (not included) I have been able to hold a lot of documents and even a couple photos that I don’t want anything to happen too, and it still has plenty of space for me to add even more important documents. It is lightweight and easy to hold, while being empty and it will just depend on how much you add to it how heavy it would be, for me I am able to easily pull it out of my closet anytime I need to get something out of it or add something new to it. I do recommend this box if you are looking for a lightweight, durable, standard plastic file box.

Nice durable see through box with handle

I bought this nice see through filing tote to store my boxes of Christmas Cards and letterhead in. It was hard to find a see through tote this size that was durable (especially the top) and affordable. Maybe because of the pandemic and that supply chain issues are still going on, but I couldn't find that many plastic file totes out there and what I did find had super whimpy tops. This filing tote was the exception. Two thumbs up.

Best Built with the Best Features!

I love these boxes! I purchased a total of 8 during the past 4 years. They are the best out there! I searched for a box with these features: Sturdy (durable) plastic, stackable, sturdy handle and reliable latch, not too big and not too small, not too heavy, convenient to haul from home to car to office, a place to afix a label on the front of the box, and a built-in storage space inside the lid for thumb drives, pens, paper clips, stickie notes, your I.D. or whatever you might need handy while working off-site like I do at archive libraries. This box has all that! It holds about 8-10 lbs. of letter-size files. I wish they made these in legal-size, too. Cons? Strong plastic smell initially, but I leave the lid open whenever I can the first few weeks to air that out (the files don't take-on that smell, just the box), and, occasionally, you’ll come across or receive a box (from online ordering) where the latch won’t latch; But that’s only happened once and I think it was because too much weight was placed on the box during shipping and packing and it bowed/tweaked the front of the file box just enough to cause the front to become concave and the latch mechanism couldn’t work effectively. I easily exchanged it for another! Buy these. They’re great! I hope they don’t discontinue them.

No, these are not good products. Design or production line must have changed b/c there are so many good PAST reviews - yet the product is discontinued on all other websites. The boxes both came with the closing mechanism separated from the file box. One would think easy to snap on right? No, they legit do not fit at all. I didn't want to pay to return them so kept them but now have to keep the box closed with another mechanism (carabiner clip, etc...) I would not recommend them now LATE SUMMER OR FALL OF 2022.

After days of examination my husband and me can find no way to shut and latch this box. Are we missing a part? Missing a latch? It came in a cardboard packing box with nothing else. And nothing inside. Came with NO instructions. It's a plastic file box with nothing to hold it closed. Would appreciate some assistance. We went to the website listed on the label and they don't even have this product. Sent email and have not heard back. Very strange. Will give 5 stars if someone can tell me how to latch this thing.

Nice, lightweight but sturdy file box

I act as treasurer for my son's Cub Scout Den and I've purchased one of these boxes every year for the past several years. Both the box and the handle are sturdy. The size is large enough to keep a year's worth of paperwork but not so big it's hard to lug around. File folders (not included) fit inside very nicely.

Works well for my needs

I like that this box is portable and has a weather-tight seal which makes it ideal for my grab-and-go emergency files. There are a few minor design flaws, however. The tracks for the hanging files to hang from don't go all the way to the end of the box but instead stop just before the end. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but I don't have a whole lot of files in my box yet and I notice the files tend to slide around and can jump off the track and fall into the front of the box. The other weird thing I noticed is that one day the latch that keeps the lid shut popped off. It was easy enough to reattach, but it does make me wonder if it will be secure enough for toting around. Also, if you're really concerned about the weather-tight nature of the box, I think the section where my files are will be protected from the elements, but the compartments in the lid for pens and stuff are not weather-tight. It meets my needs for now, though, so I'll be keeping it.

This box is awesome for storing just about everything. I don't use it for storing files, but rather tall oblong things like spray paint cans or hair products. I love that it is clear so I can see what's inside easily. If your job requires you to work outdoors and carry tools or products around with you, this is the best. Handle is sturdy. Worth the price in my opinion.

I like it

Had so many documents stored in an ugly paper box. This for all of them. I didn't get hanging folders although I plan to in the future. One other reviewer was right, the rail for the hanging folders doesn't go all the way from one side to the other but that actually fits my needs, I have a few things that don't fit whee the rail is but do fit on the outer edge of it that don't need to be in a hanging file. Looks neat and the handle didn't break carrying it. I didn't feel like it was flimsy. Good product.

I ordered two of these to store my personal files and they work great! I love that the box protects my files from spills, the extra compartment for stationary items, and that it is easy to carry around. You do have to purchase letter size hanging file folders for them, but they fit great. The front and back hanging file folders tend to fall off, but if you put weighted papers in those they stay in place. Also, it took me a while to understand how to properly open and close the black latch, but once I figured it out it was very easy to use. Overall I recommend this product it is definitely worth the buy!

Stay away! Latch does not work and maybe no return

The one plastic closure latch/mechanism does not work AT ALL, could not close the box no matter what. So when one takes the (empty) box by the handle, it hangs open. It came like that in the box, does not look broken, it simply does not work at all, terrible design. So disappointed. Also, no RETURN option for this article through Walmart. I have just messaged the seller (Office Depot) and I hope that they do the right thing.

Flawed

The handle is heavy duty. The plastic box itself is made of average quality plastic. The foam gasket is a nice feature. Unfortunately the latch is poorly designed. It comes unlatched too easily and has popped out of it’s holes completely a number of times. If I didn’t get this box for next to nothing on clearance I would have returned it. There are many lower priced options to choose from. I do not recommend it.

Sturdy but a design flaw

Because I read the reviews, I was careful to look at different kind of file boxes when I bought this one. The plastic is heavy and I like the handle, which will not easily pull away from the lid as happened with my last file box purchase. BUT: the plastic file guide on the sides for hanging folders does not extend all the way to the front and back of the box. So if the box is crowded, your first and last few hanging files will fall off the guide. And because plastic is slippery, those files can slip down to the bottom of the box, never to be found again. Once you know about it it's not such a big deal, but this is such an obvious design flaw. I hope the manufacturer is reading this!
