Black AND brass
I believed this lamp to be entirely black, but in fact the whole socket base, pull chains and finial are brass. I didn't see this in the photos and it's no where in the description. Not what I wanted so I returned. Also, be aware the height of the shade is very short. Only about 6.5 inches tall and a definitely dark oatmeal beige.
These work perfect in my house. Very nice quality for the money.
Good little lamp
This is a nice lamp. It's well-packed, very easy to assemble (<5 minutes) and looks good. Although there's no dimmer, there are two different bulbs so one can adjust the amount of light that way. We are using it next to a seat as a task lamp, though it also has nice ambient quality.
