The gable vents were smooth sanded and ready to install. They have been installed as received but could be painted or sanded if desired. I plan to let them weather.

Good Gable Vent

I recently purchased an attic vent. I found that the vent fit well and was easy to install.

Absolutely perfect!!!!!

Solid and heavy so won't fall apart but needs a heavy sanding. Very hard to get hands into. I had to buy a kit of multiple size artist brushes to get into the louvers without painting the screen. It is really rough wood and even with many coats of primer and really good paint, it never looks great. Good thing it is up high.

Pleased with the quality of the product BUT really disappointed that my "vertical wood gable vent" is actually a HORIZONTAL wood gable vent! The description and visual do not match the dimensions given - something I missed! I would suggest the image of the product be changed as none of the items I was looking at actually had measurements that would make them vertical like the photo. A bit disappointed...but my mistake - shoulda measured twice and cut once as they say.

quality is what I expected. make sure you know if you want non-functional (decorative only) or functional (requires you to frame an opening for the gable vent).

Smooth finish is pretty rough...

Bought this as a replacement for a rotted out pine gable vent.

We actually bought 2 of the functional version of this vent - cedar smooth. It worked perfectly with our current vent opening, so the measurements of the product are accurate. We stained them to match our theme. We LOVE the finished look it added to our home. I would definitely recommend this product if you’re adding wood accents.

frame is produced from quality material (cedar frame is 1.5 inch stock), though the cedar box that houses the slots is much thinner and needs to be handled with care. the screen isnt robust though is likely adequate with careful install (very thin). the product isnt finished however, several areas were quite rough and needed significant sanding. i would purchase again, but it should be advertised more accurately.

We first purchased one of these vents to see if it would work for our renovating and painting project of the outside of our house. We originally had inexpensive vinyl vents which were intended to be temporary (ended up to be around 20 years). We wanted to replace the old vents with something that would look a lot better. We were pleased with the first one we ordered; so we ordered three more to replace the remaining old vents. We decided to add a primer and high gloss white finish and they look great. Since they are red cedar, they will last for years. We would highly recommend these vents.

The size we required was difficult to find here in TX. We were pleased with the quality of the manufacturing.

Very rough. Assembly crude. Expected far more for price. Estimate value at approximately 1/3 of cost.
