Very unsettling Material Safety Data Sheet
Would highly recommend against purchasing a rice cooker from Panasonic. I requested a copy of the material safety data sheet, which the company sent over. The inner pot is made from Sumiflon, which (as stated on the first page of the MSDS) may:
Value For Money:yes
Good, reliable Japanese-style rice-cooker
You wouldn’t think rice could be that different from one rice cooker to another, but after going from my cheap K-M**T rice cooker to this Panasonic one, I can tell you that it’s noticeable. I have yet to have my rice be dry or wet. I used to end up throwing out the last serve of my rice because by that time it was unappetising and too dry or soggy, and now even after a couple days in the fridge it reheats perfectly.
Happy cook.
I have only used the rice cooker once, but I found it really simple to use, even without reading the instructions :) I used basmati rice and put it on the jasmine rice setting with 2 cups of rice and 3 cups of water. Pushed the start button and walked away. Perfect rice. I love how the countdown timer shows how many minutes of cooking time is left so that I could prepare the rest of the meal. I'm keen to try the other functions.
[Rewarded Review] Review for Model SR-DA152 8 cup
Bought for $129 from Good Guys Oxley 13/10/24. The promotion was inside the box but this model was not one that was available to review. Easy to use. I put 2 cups washed Sushi rice in and water to 2 level white rice. Pushed white rice button followed by start and display indicated 37 minutes to cook after which it changed to keep warm and counted the minutes. Rice was perfectly cooked. There was no mess or dripping onto the area around the bowl. I turned it off with some rice in and there was some condensation on the lid the next day however this was captured by a lip on the silicone seal and didn't drip onto the machine - next time I'll let the rice cool with the lid up and that should stop that condensation. I like it very much.
Panasonic rice cooker and compact and cooks fast
I previously had a Breville 10 cup cooker. It lasted a long time but died on my recently. I never needed a 10 cup so decided to look for a 5 cup. So much more compact and it cooks the rice fast and perfect. I find the digital read out too bright it could have a dimmer. Other than that nice and compact and you can cook other things as well. So far after a week I am happy. I hope it lasts longer than the warranty!
A disaster
This purchase has been a disaster . I only ever cook brown rice and in my previous, much more basic, rice cooker this took about 30 mins. In this expensive fancy one it takes 2+ hours to cook the same quantity and is invariably too soft and mushy if you use the recommended ratio of rice to water. I hate it & wish I cld return it. Not fit for purpose.
Cheap & Fluffy!
Have been looking around for a replacement rice cooker and found this one on line. Cheaper than other mainstream local retailers by $40. Cooks very well just like the previous Panasonic. Its a well made & known product so I am confident it will last like the last one.
AWESOME HANDY APPLIANCE!
This appliance is Awesome! So very versatile. I have cooked whole meals in this (Marion’s Honey Soy chicken) and risotto. The steamer function is so handy for dumplings or Pork Buns. And even steamed chicken breasts. It’s is not too big and the love the handle to use to put it away.
Compact, easy to use everyday rice cooker
For a small family, this rice cooker is small and compact, able to fit in pot drawer easily. The inside of the lid comes off so all the pieces can be washed easily. Rice cooked is even and fluffy and nonstick pot means easy to clean. Takes about 35-40min to cook 1.5 cups of rice. Pot is made of 3 layers so the aluminum layer is not in contact with the rice for piece of mind. Can use timer for cooking and keeps rice warm afterwards without drying it out. Also can cook porridge. Very happy with purchase. Reasonable price- arrived quickly.
Delicious rice, every time.
This is a great step up from the 1 button rice cookers I've had in the past. The variety of dishes I can now make is fantastic and so far everything has cooked perfectly, even brown rice. I haven't tried to make a cake in it yet, but maybe one day. I would love a more comprehensive recipe book, but I guess that's what the Library is for.
Panasonic is King as usual
Not much to say. Panasonic is one of the best Japanese companies for anything tech related, and this is their top end rice cooker. My partner have started making so many meals with this and it’s so easy… does so much more than rice. Cooks rice and other quickly and reliably and have been loving the time estimate
Great size, great quality, great rice
Works great, have had it for a few weeks now and making rice regularly, never had a bad batch.
Great little cooker
Great cooker. Rice turns out nice and fluffy, although it took a fair bit longer time to cook than our traditional rice cooker. Tried making the Chocolate Lava Cake (https//www.facebook.com/PanasonicAustralia/videos/1057856851707554/) as per the recipe and instructions but the cake turned out without the lava. Just a firm chocolate cake. To be fair, the video showed the cake baked with the SRCX108SST and I don't know whether this outcome is due to the thicker (4mm ) inner pan of the SRCX108SST. The thickness of the SR-CN108WST inner pan is 2.2mm.
It really DOES make fluffy rice. And no sticky hard crust at the bottom to clean. It gives a countdown on the LED screen of 10-15 minutes to finish. I’ve only used Basmati but looking forward to trying brown rice soon. It looks great and is a perfect size on the breakfast bar and in the cupboard after super easy wipe to clean. No more soaking to get crusty rice off. Very satisfied with purchase after considering very expensive options this was a fantastic choice.
Panasonic 5 cup cooker
Perfect size for two or up to 4 people. Love this cute and space saving cooker. Previously owned a larger 10 cup model, realised never cooked rice to that full capacity. A 10cup cooker might be useful if you intend to steam food in the tray provided, otherwise 5cup size cooker is just right. So far have tried cooking white rice and oats. Very happy with how my oats turns out, just the right texture. So much better than manually cooking oats over the stove. Love the timer feature too. Set the timer and it promptly cook as per setting. And its so easy to clean.
