[Rewarded Review] Great Seat!

I purchased this to replace a wood seat that was impossible to clean. This is the best looking plastic seat. Easy to install and easy to clean. Self closing lid and seat are terrific. It also does not dent upon use. I like it so well purchasing a second one. While it is on the pricey side, you get what you pay for.

This item broke as soon as I took it out of the box. Returned and purchased a Kohler seat which has been excellent. I do not recommend.

Quality and sturdiness is impressive

Bought this after getting a cheap Kohler toilet seat that broke in 14d. It is very study. You can sit on the lid or seat and it will not bend or move. Fasteners hold seat tightly in place and don’t loosen. Tho commercial grade, it fits perfectly on my home toilet. Installation not difficult but does require a wrench. Does not have any quick release (i don’t care but you might) and soft close is real slow (may improve with use). I am really glad i bought this and wish i had done so before i got the Kohler.

I find this toilet seat quite comfortable and like the sloped shape of the seat towards the back. For me, it will never feel quite as nice to sit on as an enamel-coated wooden seat, but the payoff in durability makes it worth it to go plastic. It is a nice shape and fits my standard toilet well. I like the soft closure lid, but it is a really slow close as some others mentioned. My one major beef about this seat is that I can’t sit on the lid sideways without the plastic bending. I’m only 160lbs. I worry that it will permanently defect eventually. I sit sideways on the seat when giving my kids a bath, so this is a bit inconvenient and means having to sit on the floor. I can sit on it forward facing without problem, just sideways is a no-no. I wish it was a bit stronger in that aspect. Overall, a comfortable toilet seat and I’m happy that it isn’t going to lose its finish in a couple months like an enamel coated wood one. I liked it enough to buy a second one, but there is some room for improvement. Installation was super easy and the fit strong.

Didn't last

Bought one for home, and liked it enough to buy a second one for my place of work. Unfortunately, the soft close on both of them failed in under two years. I don't consider that "commercial grade." Disappointing.

Could not find a suitable replacement in the UK so fortunately obtained one from the US. It fits perfectly and is very good quality and certainly good value.

No one in this house is a 28 waist. No one floats on air. This is a seat made to last. All four toilets in the house now have one. I saw where some people complained that the seat stays open when closed, but I didn't see any updates where once it has a week or so of use it closes like normal, because it does. And it will. The hinges are tough. The seat creaking is the rubber on the bowl. I think a lot of the negative points about the seat would have been avoided with a waiting period before reviewing. I wouldn't own any other seat. Do NOT clean the top lid or top of seat with abrasive cleaners like Comet and Ajax. Under the seat is fine, but really a Clorox wipe or a spray cleaner is good enough for that. Reason being is the shiny finish will go away, and that's not the fault of Bemis, that's the fault of science. If you are concerned, stick to spray or wipe cleaners that aren't super harsh. Don't use a scour pad. Paper towels or soft sponge. Other than that, it will hold up to weight and use and you will be hard pressed to find a better seat.

I'm a bigger guy, 300+ pounds. And no matter my size, I've always had issues with toilet seats twisting, loosening, sliding off the bowl and the bumpers breaking off. I was tired of replacing toilet seats every year or two. This thing is well built, solid and will last for a long time with the right care. I love the design of the seat. The bolts are steel and molded solidly into the hinges of the seat. All you have to do is slide it into the holes on the bowl and attach the nuts. The nuts are a harder plastic so they won't bend and twist but they're not so brittle that they will break. The nut is a long threaded sleeve that covers nearly the entire length of the bolt. It also has what looks like a standard nut molded onto the end of the "sleeve" that intentionally breaks away when the right amount of torque is reached to secure the seat. This provides the right amount of pressure to hold the seat to the bowl without over torquing and potentially damaging the bowl or seat. And boy does it keep it snug to the bowl. No slippage or twisting here. All that is needed is a standard 5/8" wrench. I used a 5/8 ratchet box end wrench which made it real easy. The bumpers are a harder rubber material that provide complete coverage on the rim of the bowl. The bumpers sit down into a molded cavity with a ridge all the way around to help keep the bumper from moving back and forth and breaking or twisting off. The soft close feature is awesome as well. No unexpected slamming of the seat and causing you to jump out of your skin. Or, if you have grandkids like at my house, no slamming of the toilet seat after they are done using it.

I'll be honest- when I opened the box and felt how light this thing was, my heart sank. I'm a really big bish. I needed a sturdy toilet seat. However, looks can be deceiving, and this thing is sturdy AF. People who exceed the weight limit listed have used it multiple times without issue. Very easy to clean, and I love that the lid doesn't slam down. It very slowly closes itself after, which is great for those late night Taco Bell penalties. I will be taking this seat with me when the time to move comes. I'm suddenly aware of how weird and lame and fat it is to be this excited over a toilet seat, but here we are. If you've got a big booty, this will handle your doodie. 10/10 would purchase again.

We purchased 200 of these for our guest rooms. Since installing on brand new American Standard power flush toilets, we have had to replace over 40 of them due to what I would consider manufacturer's defect. Every one has split at the hinge where the assembly plug was inserted. Material is either too thin or not strong enough. And what is worse is that these are supposed to be "Commercial Grade" and are listed as "Hospitality" (read: hotel), yet the warranty states RESIDENTIAL ONLY!!! And the Bemis Representative met with us and recommended them when we bought them. Very unhappy. I will grant you this - none have ever loosened and only one had the soft close fail.
