This has useful features: it allows me to set the desired humidity level between 40-60%. There is a sensor that will turn off the fan if the humidity level is as assigned in the room. With evaporative humidifiers, I can easily use tap water. The noise level is fine by me since I sleep with a fan on anyway.

Nice evap humidifier

Bought this 2 weeks ago to replace the same style and model number of the one I had for 5 years. The old one was wonderful. But this new one has a harmonic vibration when on high so I have to sleep when it's on low now. Kind of a bummer because when it's on high it would drown out all the outside noises eg loud cars, dogs barking, parties next door.

It’s a bigger version of “Artic Air” , no mechanism to create “mist” . A fan that sucks air thru a wet sponge filter. ☹️ After 3 days of use the top of filter dried and turn brown and the bottom half remained moist. I had to flip the filter to “maintain” the moisture every few days. Not worth the price or return to be resold as “open box item”

DONT KNOW WHAT PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT!

This is my second year using the unit and it’s just fine. Looks good, too. Not easy to fill but once you do, it’s carefree. Raising humidity with this type is really challenging, so be realistic. Don’t know what the low-raters are complaining about. I have a humidistat that shows it raised humidity from 28 to 33 in a few days — not an easy trick with forced air heat and forgetting to close the bedroom door. I’m sure it will go higher. And it’s the quietest humidifier or air cleaner I’ve ever used. Very pleasant white noise makes sleeping easier. Very sleek and good looking if that’s important to you.

This has to be one of the best looking humidifiers out there! Vornado’s products always have a modern, sleek look to them, and this one is no exception. This has three different fan settings (high, low, and auto), and 6 different humidity levels. Because this is a evaporative humidifier, you don’t get the cloud of mist like ultrasonic ones, and it does not leave a white residue or collect moisture on surfaces. This is a bit louder than other ones I have used because of the fan, but I prefer that and like to sleep to the sound of a fan anyways. The 1 gallon tank will last you through the night and into the day time, and it’s super easy to remove and refill. The entire unit is easy to clean, including the water tank. We love this humidifier, and have 2 in the house running all winter long!

Easy-to-fill tank

I just added this evaporative humidifier to my collection of Vornado products. It works really well in concert with the Vornado ultrasonic humidifier in my home. Unlike the ultrasonic, this is very easy to fill, but both work better than any other humidifier I've owned. Vornado quality is obvious to the eye.

Great Expectations, Great Disappointment

Not sure if I received a defective unit or not but it turned off in under 5 minutes when set to to 60% humidity level. It's winter in CT so there is no way this unit had any effect on the humidity level in that amount of time. I let it run on low and continuously for the entire night and found zero difference in the moisture in the room (average size bedroom with door closed) and very little water was used from the reservoir. I am returning.

It was promising…

If you plan on daily use, there are likely much bette machines out there for you. It struggles to keep the humidity up in a 13x13 bedroom. Out of box, it was amazing. After two months of use, a filter change and a thorough cleaning…. It’s struggling. It could be user error - but it certainly isn’t my first rodeo….

Inefficient

After 2 months of near daily use, I am still dissatisfied with this humidifier. It looks nice, but it is loud (because of the fan) and doesn’t humidify the room nearly as quickly as our old, basic humidifier. The same amount of water in our old humidifier would be gone in half the time, and this one leaves the air still feeling dry despite running constantly. Additionally, it requires more maintenance as the wick gets mildewed and needs replaced. I wouldn’t purchase this again and wouldn’t recommend it to others.

Way too NOISY

If you’re looking for a quiet machine, find something else. First I put it in my bedroom - too loud. Then I put it in my hallway outside the bedroom - still too loud. I thought maybe it’s defective so I bought another one - nope, still too loud. A constant fan/wind noise - essentially as noisy as a standard box fan running on low - I would have thought this would be designed to be quiet, but clearly not. Does it put water into the air, sure - but there must be a way to do that quietly. For the record, I’m not particularly sensitive - I believe I’m a standard sleeper.

WAY TOO LOUD for bedroom use

I had high hopes for this - but the sound level is unbearable. I bought two of them to run in two bedrooms - I'm not an overly sensitive person - but the low setting is still WAY too loud. They definitely cheeped out when buying the motor and the wind resistance caused by the grate above the fan clearly adds to the noise level. If you don't care about noise level, then i'm sure this is a fine product for you - but if you're looking for a quiet machine, this isn't it.

Excellent Humidifier

I bought this because i have several Vornado fans and they are excellent fans that never quit. I’ve had a lot of humidifiers. This one is absolutely the best! It’s been such a dry winter, so it’s run nearly non stop for months. No white powder residue!! You can set it to automatically turn off when the desired humidity is achieved! It’s easy to fill. I have this in my office but it might not be the best for a bedroom, as you can hear it running.

I have used many humidifiers. Don't like the ultrasonics. I just wanted something that would boil water and humidity my house in the winter. So easy to clean. Perfect. Please support AllergyBuyersClub. I love their recommendations and descriptions.

No noticeable difference in humidity

Did little noticeable difference in the humidity in the room. I would have it run on high until it got to 40% in a closed room and it never turned off. Still woke up with a dry throat. Would have it running all day when I was away with the door shut and still nothing. Barely any water would leave the tank either so not much air was going into the room.

Old Model?

I bought this EV100 and also a EVDC300 for almost the same price and the EVDC300 is far superior in every way.

The best humidifier I've owned

The best humidifier I've owned. Two humidifiers ago I owned a cool mist ultrasonic rated well on Amazon, but it became such a pain to clean, like 20 mins of cleaning the pink slime every other day. I hated the idea of spending my life cleaning humidifiers during the winter so I decided to get the "best" - the $950 (w/ tax) Dyson Pure Humidify + Cool Cryptomic. Indeed, auto cleaning, but it stopped working within a week, and during the week, it did a terrible job of getting the humidity levels to 40%+. I returned it. Then, I found this one after reading reviews. It does the job, looks really good, and is so easy to clean. I don't have any issues with the fan noise as described in Wirecutter (I like white noise). I high recommend this great machine.

I Can't Get Use to the White Noise

I recently purchased this and it does not seem to humidify my bedroom at all. Plus, the white noise is too loud for me. I have used several of the setting, on low 50 right now and it doesn't go off at all. It has an auto features where it will shut off when the room meet the setting need. The high and auto feature sound is way too much more louder to me so I try not to use feature. I will start using auto 50 for the next few days to see if it will shut on and off. I think I may need to return it though, just because I do not like the white noise period. I am so use to quiet humidifiers.

Perfectly humid with no dampness

I've tried all kinds of humidifiers and always found they made my room damp - condensation on the floor or damp pillows. That is until I bought Vornado's evaporative humidifier! Our bedroom stays at the perfect humidity level. The fan is great for a little white noise. And it's superbly easy to maintain and clean. This is the most sanitary and efficient humidifier I've ever owned. My only minor complaint is that the blue light is bright at night. We simply put a small strip of black felt over it. The most minor inconvenience for such a great humidifier.

Poor Craftsmanship - Doesn't Work, Right Out Of The Box

I bought this today (12/1/20) from Menards for $69.99, after vowing to not buy one of those cheap brands that Walmart sells. After un-boxing, reading the manual, and filling it with water, I excitedly turned on my new purchase to-- absolutely nothing. Sure, the pretty blue lights lit up, and the settings changed just fine; but the fan wouldn't blow no matter what. I let it sit for an hour, wondering if maybe the wick had to saturate before it would blow. Once again, nothing. Unplugged it, re-plugged it. Still nothing. Finally, in frustration, I rapped in the top of the machine like one would with an old vacuum tube television set, and the fan started spinning! And it's not whisper quiet either. Already problematic, right out of the box! What a piece of junk. This is the most disappointing purchase I've made in quite some time, and am even more annoyed that I have to drive the 30 miles back to the far side of Lansing, MI just to return it.
