This Sea Gull Lighting Traverse Mirage 6-inch 3,000K Integrated LED Light with Recessed Trim looks like a perfect replacement for the old clear globe ceiling light next to our master bath shower. Since this light kit includes a rubber seal it's a good match for a damp location. I've become a convert to LED lighting because they are so much easier to install than the heavy old light fixtures and they save a lot of energy.

I have replaced at least 12-15 lights in my house with recessed lighting and this turned out to be the hardest. It is billed as usable for both old and new constructions but failed miserably in my house. I have other recessed lights from Seagull Lighting that were easy to install and look great. The metal frame at the back of the mirage light did not sit flat on the connection box. As a result the hooks on the back of the light it not fit snugly on the frame and the light lay hanging. Pushing it too hard broke off a piece of the ceiling and now the ceiling will need repair. I had hired a professional to install the light who found the defects. It may work in new homes but did not work as a replacement light in mine. The only good feature is the nice bright light.

I was introduced to seagull lights by a electrician and I must say that they are the best unknown low profile light I have ever seen. I have 6 of these lights in my home. 2 outside under soffit at front door, one over tub, and 3 down my hallway/foyer. They mount onto a 3 inch pancake box and are made for wet areas. No need for a can or a converter box for LEDs. any ceiling gang light box will mount these flush to ceiling. These are lights you wont kick yourself after buying.
