I made a few mistakes when installing because I couldn't find any installation directions. None came with the order. The overall project turned out well, but here is where I stumbled: 1) The outer edges of the foam are beveled. I thought it would be easier to "grout" or finish by butting beveled edges toward each other. I should have put the flat, cut edges together instead. 2) I would have done better to semi-glue the pieces in place & then cut sides once installed. 3) It was necessary to use a piece of painted, flat 3/4" oak moulding to frame up the outer edges with a frame for a more-finished appearance. All that said, the foam covered a lot of sins and is a vast improvement. Take care to not bump it though; it dents easily, and you can't fix that.
Nice design and very lightweight. With some practice my husband was able to glue it on to a popcorn ceiling, that had a few unsightly repair patches. We're happy with the outcome asis and hopefully we'll paint it up some time in the future.
Ive had these tiles for over a year now. They were a breeze to put up. They weigh nothing and are simple to cut and fit. I just used the recommended glue to install, and it only took about 4 hours to complete. It looks great.
Only downside is paint does not stick to the shiny side super well and they definitely need painted to not look like styrofoam. Otherwise this is a great product. We used it on the ceiling in a basement bath remodel that had a wonky ceiling and it looks amazing!
These turned out amazing! Bought it to cover a bad job done by a contractor that left lines in my ceiling. I honestly thought it would look cheap, cause it's styrofoam. Just wanted it to look better than the grid lines that would have been am expensive and messy repair and now I want to do multiple rooms. Pics show one half covered and one half uncovered. Used it with the suggested deco glue to stick to popcorn ceiling and applied 2 coats of paint. Great upgrade!
Perfect fix for the popcorn ceiling in the closet. I would not recommend it for a big space unless done by a professional. Upon arrival the tiles look very flimsy and cheap as it's the same styrofoam material as restaurant containers. However, a coat of paint does the trick. Also caulking around the edges and painting over one last coat makes it look much clean and professionally done. We love the end result, and others have complimented it also.
Wasn't sure how these would look. I have to say they made such a difference and makes my bathroom ceiling look expensive. I just bought this house and the bathroom was so outdated and ugly. The ceilings and walls had a weird texture on them and sanding didn't take it all off. These tiles were the only thing that worked. The peel and stick wallpaper is room mates that I bought on Wayfair too, in case anyone is interested. Excuse the mess in the before remodel pics. I bought more ceiling tiles to do my laundry room too.
They are thin delicate pieces of styrofoam, so you have to be extra careful when putting them up and cutting. I damaged some with my fingernail. I did notice that not all of the corners are straight and are the same length so some connect great while others you can tell aren’t long enough to connect which leaves a small gap. Overall it made my bathroom ceiling look better.
I used them on my bathroom ceiling. Several years...
I used them on my bathroom ceiling. Several years ago, I'd had a leak on the roof, around the chimney. Water was dripping down the wall in the bathroom. After the leak was fixed, you could see where some of the tape had come loose on the ceiling, it was always an eyesore and I didn't want to start ripping it down and replacing it- there was nothing structural wrong, just looked bad. I used these tiles, it covered it up and it looks just beautiful. I was so pleased, I bought more of these tiles in a different pattern and did my dining room ceiling, I am so happy with it, if I had the ambition, I'd do all the ceilings in my house.
