Dirty right out of the box
Chair was heavy, difficult to assemble and had a stain on the seat right out of the box. I removed the plastic wrap to find this. (image) It’s so large and such a hassle that I don’t feel like I can return it so the most I can do is recommend you don’t buy this chair lest you end up in the same situation. Way too expensive for the quality.
The chair was just ok. It was easy to put together and looks and nice and was the right height, but it just wasnt comfortable at all for us. The fact that the chair doesnt lean at all wasnt good. It's very much only a straight back which can get uncomfortable and the seat itself wasnt good to sit in for several hours. Nothing terrible, but not good for me and my partner.
GOOD drafting table chair
Bought this chair for my dads drafting table. It is the perfect height, assembled in 5 mins, and seems to be sturdy. I am 6'1 and a 240-250 pounder and it passed the lean back test and the spin around with my legs up in the air test. The foot support ring could be improved.
Pierrepont Mid-Back Mesh Ergonomic Drafting Chair with Foot Ring and Flip-Up Arms Review: 4/5 stars
I love this chair. I have been searching for a very long time for a chair that will support my back while sitting at my desk as well as sitting at a dining room table where my jigsaw puzzle board sits. The puzzle board has several tilt positions which the height from floor to seat of a normal chair does not accommodate. I never thought of trying a drafting chair. At it's lowest position it is higher than a normal chair. Sturdy chair; simple to assemble; on time delivery. Fantastic find.
Once assembled as per instructions, find the chair pretty unstable. The mounting point between the piston and seat base rocks a bit causing you to feel unsure of the chairs sturdiness. Fabric seems thin, I expect it to fail soon too. Comfort is far from expectations given the price of the chair. Rethink purchasing this chair.
Warning! It is easy to go flying across the room on a vinyl floor sometimes without you on it I once flipped right over and was lucky that what was knocked over by hitting the door that I did not do serious damage to me or all the things that fell off. You have to be very careful in getting up on the chair when it is at its highest. I am 5’4”. I also find that the chair drops down considerable when at its highest so I have hung on to my old drafting chair. The fabric is a bit scratchy and I thought it gave flexibility in the back. It doesn’t. The padding on the seat could be better as I doubt you would want to spend a full workday on it. I do like the arms that can flip up. It was a bit difficult putting it together. If it would not have been too much hassle to take it apart I would have returned it. It gave me pause as to whether I wanted to order large items in the future through Wayfair that I could not test and was not sure of what it would cost me to return from Canada.
Delivered quickly, but very uncomfortable
I was quite surprised to receive this chair the day after ordering it. Was not supposed to receive it for another 3 business days. Three stars and two thumbs up for that.
Over all the chair is comfortable and easy to assemble. I like the flip-up arm rest and the lumbar support is well placed for me. It adjust up and down easily and rolled nicely. These are the positives. The main issues I have with the chair is the constant popping noise it makes as you move around or slide on and off the chair. I've tracked the noise to the two piece bracket that attaches the seat to the column support. It has nothing to do with the how tight the screws are that attach the bracket to the seat. I've removed the seat and flexed the bracket and you can still hear the popping noise. You can see the bracket in the image i uploaded. This noise is very loud and can be heard clearly when I'm on video calls. The second issue has to do with the foot rest, it will not stay in place. At lest once a week I have to raise it up as it slides down with use.
All parts are stiff and very difficult to move -- arm rests, tilt adjustment, seat adjustment. Foot ring is worthless. It is too small and set too far under seat, impossible to reach with your feat. Lumbar support is hard and pronounced, extending too far into the seat, pressing you forward. This awkward position increases as you raise seat. Absolutely not worth the price, any sale price or anything. I gave it to my husband for his den, but only because he did not want to take it back apart. Me? I'd have taken it apart to return. Totally dissatisfied.
I needed a tall chair to reach my crafting table, but due to hip and low back issues, I needed it to be comfy and have lumbar support. Add to all that, Im 51 on a good day, so generally my legs just dangle, whenever I sit, but I wanted to be able to enjoy working on my hobbies for long periods of time and knew I wouldnt be able to if I couldnt reach the footrest. And voila! Wayfair and this chair for the win. The seat is super comfy, the lumbar support is just right, and the adjustable footrest is perfect for my short legs. The price point is the cherry on top of an already perfect sundae. Now, the real test begins. If it holds up for more than 6mo or a year, it really will be the perfect chair. Time will tell.
This chair is comfortable! I needed a chair that would convert into a draft chair and this one is great. The chair lowers so I can sit at my table but raises up when I convert the table to a standing height. With the wheels I can move the chair or pull it in to lean against. The foot rest is convenient. The flip up arms give me even more flexibility on how I use it. The seat cushion is thick and comfortable. The material appears sturdy. I love the bright blue. It adds color to the room.
Very easy to assemble. Plan 45 minutes to assemble for first-timers. All components are well labeled and the instructions are very clear. An Allen Wrench (included) is the only tool you need. The product was well-packaged and arrived undamaged exactly when Wayfair said it would be delivered. The chair is comfortable and fits the intended space perfectly. Product design and construction quality is excellent. After just a couple of hours of use, I am very pleased with the comfort and value.
Comfortable and great-looking desk drafting chair. My new home came with a tall built-in desk (39" from floor to the bottom of the desk) and this is exactly the chair I had hoped to find. The dark gray is a nice color that goes with my wood floors and white desk/ivory walls. The armrests can be moved up if your desk is shorter. It was easy to put together using the instructions. I put on a TV show and it took about 40 min. from start to finish to get everything put in place.
As a Sign Language Interpreter working from home, I have been in search for the ideal chair. I was a little skeptical about buying this office chair sight-unseen, but have been pleasantly surprised with its comfort. It was very easy to put together and works well with sit/stand desk. I like the height of this chair especially w the foot rail which provides added comfort options for sitting. The flip up arms are surprisingly out of the way when not in use and the seat itself is very comfortable! Definitely recommend this one and would buy again.
Easy to put together and everything fits well. Comfortable and efficient use, it hits the height I was looking for on a workshop table (max 29”). I upgraded the caster wheels to rubber ones since the originals are the typical plastic office fare. The main strut is pretty skinny so not sure how it will fare in the long run or how it would do for heavier people (250lbs ). Good purchase for the price.
Not quite high enough for a drafting chair and the measurement doesn't account for seat squish or anything. Not really fitting with my drafting desk unless I have something under the wheels to bring it up another inch or so. I might take the wheels off entirely and put the chair on a higher platform to make this work.
doesn't lean back and made for a very small person
I was able to assemble pretty easily and it's well made, hence the 2 stars. But the chair is not what I expected and now I feel stuck because I'd have to disassemble to return. First, there is no 'lean back' capabilities. I realize it doesn't say that, but I did assume It would have that feature since this looks exactly like the chair I have, which does lean back. I'm 5'2 about 110 lbs and I have to scooch back otherwise I would fall off the chair. This is the most uncomfortable office chair I've ever purchased and makes me long for the per-internet shopping days when I could first try out in the store.
I've been using this chair for four days. The seat is not comfortable. It is not well-padded and it's very short from back to front. I am a 5'4" tall woman and the front of the chair reaches just to my mid-thighs when I am seated as far back as I can go. I think it would be very uncomfortable/inadequate for a taller person. The padding feels like it is non-existent and I feel like I am sitting on a wooden board. The rollers work well and I like the easily adjustable arm rests. Edited to add: It's been a few months since I left this review and the chair has only gotten worse. The lack of adequate padding has become a big issue and I've added my own seat cushion. I'm shopping around for a new chair already. Do yourself a favor and spend your money on a better chair.
I set up an office/craft area in the garage with an adjustable height workbench. I wanted a chair that could adjust high enough to work with the varying heights of the workbench. Since it will be rolling around on concrete and possibly exposed to dust and dirt, I replaced the original wheels with heavy-duty casters (purchased separately). This works great. I like the height range and that the arms fold up. With the heavy duty casters that I installed it's too high for a "normal" height desk but it's perfect for the adjustable height workbench/desk or drafting table. With the original casters it would be a nice desk chair. As some have mentioned the position of the back might not be ideal for a larger person. I'm 5'1" and my son is a very slender 5'9" and we like it. My husband is an average middle-aged size 5'9" and he says it's not comfortable for him since he feels like it's pushing him off the seat.
